Stayed here about a month ago. Me and my wife were chaperoning my sister-in-law's daughter for her prom which was held here. We booked 2 rooms for her and some friends of her's and a room for me and my wife. We specifically requested for rooms with TWO double beds in them in the two for the prom attendees and one bed in the room for me and my wife. We even called ahead to make SURE our reservation would be booked and they ASSURED us it would be.
WE BOOKED A MONTH IN ADVANCE OF OUR STAY THROUGH BOOKING.COM.
When we get there, they inform us the rooms are no longer available!!!???
They gave them away under us, then gave us LOWER QUALITY ROOMS FOR THE SAME PRICE WE HAD BOOKED THE HIGHER QUALITY ROOMS FOR ON BOOKING.COM.
The rooms only had ONE bed in each, for more than 2 girls staying in each room. The floors they were on smelled AWFUL. Like someone had died, mixed with cigarette smoke. They said they would charge us extra to put extra beds in (lol?!?). So they wanted to charge us SAME FOR LESS, then charge even MORE to give us what we had already booked for.
I complained and they backed off trying to steal from me for extra beds in the rooms. But i was still so aggravated i emailed a complaint to Dusit Thani's website. I received an email same day from some guy basically apologizing, but saying something along the lines of "with websites like booking.com, customers are made aware that not all rooms are guaranteed to be kept and will be given away at first come first serve basis"(!!!!) he offered to make us some kind of "gold members" at dusit thani, but why would i want to stay ever again at his overpriced stinky hotel...
"This should be considered criminal. Let it be known thay Hotels like Dusit Thani are using sites like Booking.com to LOCK in unsuspecting customers at a high price, then giving away their rooms to people who come at shorter notice who are willing to pay even HIGHER!! The whole purpose of using booking.com and other sites like it is to RESERVE the room! But hotels like this all the while have the option to just GIVE it away?!! Either they are doing that, or they are CLAIMING on websites like booking.com to have more vacancies in their different rooms than they really do, so more people are booking the same types of rooms than are open, and the day of reservation, the earliest arrivals get them while the later ones get stuck with same price and crummier room.
So what is the point of using websites like booking.com then?? Its definately shaken my trust in it for sure...
Dusit Thani couldnt hold our rooms for us bt they had no problem charging us the same hefty prices for them (about 6000 php per room or 120$) read more
