Went to Mustang Ridge campground at Flaming Gorge UT from 07/09/17 to 07/11/17. Upon arriving…read morenoticed that the sites with the "R" designation could be reserved online. We attempted to reserve an open site by going to the webpage shown at the camp ground. We found out that reservation must be made 2 days in advance so we tried to talk to campground manager "Kenny". Kenny said we couldn't use the site because it must me done online. We explained the online booking issue and showed him that the site was open until 07/12/17. Kenny then said that he wasn't familiar with the website (posted at the campground) that we were using and we couldn't stay at the unreserved site. He did find us one next to the bathroom, the site smelled like sewage. Another guest offered the use of a site that she reserved because she wasn't going to use it. She contacted Kenny and cleared this with him. After we set up 2 tents and unloaded our gear, Kenny showed up and told us that we would have to move because we couldn't stay at a site with an "R" designation. We explained to him that the site was already paid for and walked him over to the lady that let us use it. He then became upset and said that this wasn't allowed because it was stealing. That's when I became upset and the conversation became heated. I explained that I did not appreciate being called a thief and I didn't like the way he was hounding us. Kenny even threatened to call his manager, which I welcomed because Kenny was being intentionally obtuse and not listing to reason. Once he saw that we would not back down, he backed off and even took back his statement about us stealing. I would also like to note that the male restrooms had poop all over both toilets for the entire stay. Maybe Kenny should worry about the upkeep and not hassle guests so much.

Restrooms are large and have one shower in each of the women's and men's restroom. Each campsite offers a fire pit, and covered area with a picnic table. There is a short walk down to the water from the campsite. We spotted mule deer. Of all the campsites we visited, this one was most notable for bugs...LOTS of flying bugs: both morning and night. My choice for accommodations was the rock Springs KOA Which was situated literally in the shadow of about 10 giant petroleum tanks or drive 25 minutes south into flaming gorge national recreation area. Well I chanced it and I'm glad I did. Spacious campsites with roomy covered picnic tables and inground fire pits. One of the two bathrooms was closed when I visited but that was not really much of an inconvenience. The showers were acceptable but certainly not super high end. Beautiful high desert area on the green river the views were incredible. So, these views, not another camper for 50 yards and the coyotes howling all night! I will definitely make a point to come back here.

Most spaces offer shade. All spaces offer built-in fire pits and a picnic table. They have the MOST clean restrooms I have EVER seen for a campground! It barely has any "smells." It was surrounded by fencing on either side that gave it a grotto feel and definitely kept the Wyoming wind out. The WiFi was good, the site was level and the pool looked refreshing. They've built a new Shower House that has individual full-suite facilities (shower, toilet, sink). They look nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The interstate noise is present in the background, but can't really be heard once we were in the RV. I would stay here again if passing through.

The bathrooms and "kitchen" were filthy, and the facilities (especially children's play areas) are in desperate need up a facelift. The pool water was cloudy, and we met a couple who were checking out early to go to another camp area. My daughter made friends with a stray dog that was roaming around and feeding off the full trash cans. It felt like we were staying at an abandoned carnival.

We stayed in the RV Pilot Butte RV Park while we were there. We were just passing through the area…read moreand not part of a rally. This location is famous for hosting rallies and group events because they have hundreds of RV sites. When we stayed at the end of August, there weren't very many other RV's at the campground, so we had good separation from our neighbors. The sites are gravel, with not grass, but they have a dog park nearby with lots of healthy grass for the pups. The area we stayed in has two sites inside each fenced area with full hookups. We chose to park parallel to the fence rather than back in so we could have more room. We have a 40 foot motorhome and the back in configuration makes our front end hang out into the roadway quite far. The utilities were easy to access with our parking sideways, but could be far back for sewer if we had back in. There were not issues with the utilities while we were there. The over the air TV channels were not very good, and we had to use our own internet hot spot to stream some TV in the evening. There was a bathhouse near the center of the RV parking, but we didn't use it. They had a book exchange inside of an old newspaper dispenser that I chose a book out of. While staying, we went over the horse races that were happening over the weekend we were there. It was pretty cheap to get in and we enjoyed placing a few bets and watching the ponies run. You must check in with the elderly couple that manages the park before choosing your site. They take cash or check only. I paid cash to make things easy. The price was not too bad compared to other RV parks now days. We would surely be back when in the area.

My family and I had a wonderful weekend here. We were in cabin 22 and loved running into the ice…read morecold water. The lake is so fun, wish we would've kayaked. There's lots of spots even on a busy day to find along the beach. The cabins are really quaint and a blast from the past. There's a stove, heater, and fridge that takes a long time to get cold. The beds are spring mattresses and cool to look at (see-through from the side). The mattresses aren't comfortable. I didn't sleep well my time there which was a negative. Bring sheets and pillows. The stove works great and the fridge can keep things cool. A complaint I have is Cabin 22's fireplace. Every other cabin has a really great "grill surface" over the fire pit, but ours is broken and has this dainty, cheap, steel grid grill that is not user friendly. We made it work, but would've like to know beforehand or have a better grill replaced. Awesome peaceful place with no internet and cell service. Come here if you want to decompress and unplug.
