Small but efficient rooms. Looks to be in a current remodel project. What they've done so far looks great. Beds are super firm and nice queens. 2 per room. Place was clean and everything was in working condition. Microwave & mini fridge were in our room. Shower was clean and water pressure was only adequate. This could've wen better. We didn't run out of hot water. Stayed here 2 nights while in town. Like I said they are remodeling and hope to see improvements when we're in the area again. Close to cafe. Right on the Hyw headed south to Flaming George Dam. I gave this place 3 stars and think they could easily be a 4 star place if they continue improvements. read more

We needed to travel out here for some legal reason, and it is in the middle of nowhere during the winter months..at the end of the day we were hungry and the 4 hour drive home we needed some grub... Can't eat here unless you have a lot of time to burn. We were seated. It took about 30 mins for the waitress to come say hi. She took our order. Another 20 mins to get our drinks. At this point I would have left and went somewhere else, yet this is the only place around here. It took 2 hours from entry to get our food and shove our food down our throats. There was no offer of refills or any help. Burgers were decent. Kinda bland. I asked for a swap on my burger. No mention that they were out of it... so, she made it normal and didn't tell me until she brought the burger. We ordered cheese fries. She brought regular and when I asked, she said she though we did too... but didn't bother to confirm. Another "nothing to write home about" restaurant with inconsistent hours - at least from the info in our hotel room. They're only open in the afternoon as far as we could tell. It took quite awhile for our food to come and when it did it was not piping hot. I think my 8 medium sized onion rings must have sat waiting for awhile. The French fries were great! Yay! Burgers were ok, lime Ricky was ok. Prices reasonable. What I think is sad about Manila restaurants is that they have so much potential and could be great! We sat in a booth with a window that had a plastic water bottle on the window sill containing a clear brown liquid (resembling diluted tea) that was placed there (we're assuming) to capture flies. There were six or eight dead flies in the liquid and one or two living ones who were trying to get out. Then there were another dozen flies swarming around the window sill where I was sitting, so it felt "buggy." Yuck! And the window sill was a little sticky- I know because I tried to rest my elbow there... ick! The atmosphere was down homey and rustic with a very country feel. The wait staff didn't seem real happy to be there, but who knows! I just know that there's not a lot to choose from in Manila, and this place has a lot of potential. The fly problem is an easy fix. Absolutely no vegetarian or vegan options. Cruising around the gorgeous Great Gorge, we figured the "big" town of Manila would have a few dining choices for a quick lunch. Nope. Only Brownings was open at 1:30 on a summer Tuesday. Generally, I can concoct a meal of fresh veggie sides. Nope. Mashed potatoes- from a mix. Or, one can eat an iceberg lettuce salad - you know the kind: onion slivers and a tomato slice. I opted for the only other "there's something healthy here" choice: onion rings. Batter dipped this morning, says the waitress. Definitely tasty. Suggestions: get some frozen veggie patties. The world is changing - diets are becoming focused on healthy heart and body choices. Yeah, I know. Those onion rings aren't exactly healthy. But there's an onion in there... Note: kimsey the waitress was a sweetheart. Hubby said his food was good - and filling. Dirty, dirty place. Floors gross, doors broken, trash filled to over capacity and all over the ground. Food was awful, greasy. Felt sick for hours afterwards. It's the only restaurant in Manilla, except a food truck and a deli in the gas station across the street. I'd choose one of those. read more

We asked the older Woman who took our order if we could get our fries and she said that we didn't order them when we had a receipt that said otherwise. Cannot comment about food now, have refused to go back after ordering and sitting there waiting for my food while all the children that make up the wait staff were flirting with each other the older cooks and every young boy that walked in the door, I even pointed out that my food was getting cold once or twice, and was ignored while others whom came in after me were helped and left then the manager ate one of the fish fillets, when I finally got loud he came out and asked what was up and I said give me my money back, I even demanded the TIP back because I would not give them 1 cent, he then offerered me my 1/2 eaten dinner (eaten by him) instead of a refund.. I held back the curse words!!! NOT EASY as I was pissed off.. I had been in enough before that and had enough lousy service to call it a permanent NO GO!!! .. If you go good luck, to the people that own it, Yes I have talked with you in the Past, and used to love being in your restaurant, I know you only keep some of the staff as they are related... but Run a business and get GOOD help (yes tough in a town with 350 people) .. Three of us ordered pastrami burgers and our 4th had a different type of burger. Two orders of onion rings and an order of fries. We had a nice young lady serving us and an even younger girl shadowing her. Their service was impeccable. It's clearly a family run spot and this family gets it for sure. The restaurant was packed, but our food still hit the table in a timely manor. My buddy and I decided to finish off our meal with some orange creamsicle shakes. They're a definite must try. There's only a couple places to eat here in Manila, but Browning's is the best of all of them. Our server was a real cutie with a sweet smile and was very helpful. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a children's cheeseburger and accidentally got a cheese sandwich but it was good so I didn't complain she realized and tried to change the order but I was okay. My brother-in-law ordered the onion rings they were pretty much nasty. My husband had the Swiss burger and my brother-in-law had the cowboy burger they said they weren't extraordinary but they were good. The fries with cheese on them were pretty darn good though. Worst service and restaurant is dirty and unsanitary. Walked in no one greeted us after standing by the register for a few minutes l asked the girl who looked at me several times but never said a word if we seat ourselves, she said yes. After seating ourselves we sat at our table with the same girl looking at my family several times and another waitress on the floor 15 minutes before either came over and asked for drink and food orders. We ordered two pizzas and two salads. We then continued to wait for about an hour for one pizza to come out because there was a "mishap" with the second. She said it would be right out be we waited another 20 minutes for that one, I asked to just have it boxed up, when that one came out it was wrong she came back to the table asked for it back and I'm assuming she gave it to person who ordered it but I had touched the pizza and put our leftovers on top. They then gave me my $60.00 bill WTF!!! $60 for two pizzas and two sides salads. I just wanted to pay and get out, there were flies EVERYWHERE and food all over the floors. So I proceeded to the register to pay my hefty bill Where I continued to stand in a line of unhappy people where the same girl who never acknowledged us was then standing behind the register with her back towards people. I passed the people in line and walked right up to her and said do you think you can check my out she said oh yeah then gave my ticket to the waitress and got on her phone. We stopped in for lunch while visiting the area. The interior and exterior are nothing fancy which is fine with us. The deer head mounted on the wall however isn't our thing. The menu is a mix of American and Mexican with a nice selection of each. Prices were a tad high. The jalapeño bacon cheeseburger was very tasty although the patty was pretty dry. The cheese quesadilla was good. The fries were very good, as was the fry sauce. We ordered a shake but there was a problem with the machine and it never came. On a recent trip to Flaming Gorge we stopped at Browning's for a late lunch/early dinner. Between the three of us that ate there we all enjoyed our food. The burger were fresh and cooked well. We decided to indulge a little bit and have desert too. The shakes were good and they had a lot of variety for toppings and such. There are not a lot of options to eat in Manila but Browning's is worth checking out. It's a pretty typical cafe but has good service and the food didn't suck. read more

This was the only option in town the night we were staying here. It was warm, clean, and smelled pleasantly of wood smoke from the wood-burning stove heating the place. Good burger. Good French fries. Onion rings and salad were ok but I never expect salad at a place like this to be great. Service was prompt and very competent, even when we asked her for separate checks after everything was done. I would try the malt next time.
