Stumbled on this place while driving out in the country and had to stop and give it a try. It's some kind of hybrid of an Amish grocery store/lunch counter. Shelves were lined with things your grandma would go nuts over. Jams and jellies, bags of grits, all sorts of things for the cook who knows how to cook with real ingredients. Also a solid selection of prepared/ready to eat items including some pies that looked pretty amazing. Additionally there's a sandwich counter where you can build your own or order one from their menu. All the sandwiches are made to order on their house-made bread and the prices are super low. If I lived near this place that sandwich counter would quickly become a go-to lunch spot. The people were friendly and the place is clean. The prices are right and the selection of items is unique and of high quality. Don't skip this place if you're in the area. 5 stars. read more

That is a great place. All kinds of special candies, kitchen pantry items kitchen tools... You name it -they've got it. That's not to mention all the desserts to go and pie. We picked up a sandwich for lunch and it sounds basic -wheat sourdough bread, roast beef, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onions. I will tell you this may be the best sandwich I've ever had! When I opened the box to eat it, the smell was so overwhelmingly wonderful. My friend warned me that the sandwich would be great, as basic as it sounds, and it was. Next time I'm in Cullman I will definitely make a point to get back there. Service there is amazing everybody's there willing to help you and listen to what you have to say on your order. Omg! What a hidden gem! Not really hidden, it's a couple blocks off the highway, but if you don't know, you don't know! They offer home made sandwiches for $5.99 and they are the bomb! They cut the meat on site and use scratch made bread also made on site! They also sell deli meats, cheeses, scratch made breads, cookies, cinnamon rolls, cakes, pies, cheese cakes....and more! I've only been twice, but it already has a place in my heart and my tummy! It's just off highway 157 in Falkville Alabama, between Cullman and Moulton, stop in and you won't be sorry! read more

This bakery is fantastic! Only knew about it from a billboard we saw but have visited twice since then. The bread is fresh and tasty. We've tried the sourdough and also the raisin bread. They offer preserves and jarred items such as salsa and chow chow. We bought red and green tomato relish and it's very good. I was thrilled to come across this bakery and it did not disappoint. They have a wide variety of baked goods from all different kinds of pies and cakes to cinnamon rolls and raisin bread. They had different flavors of cinnamon rolls which I've never seen before like blueberry and peach. They have candy and fudge and a lot of jars of jam and apple butter. I liked that they had two different sizes of cake so you could get a smaller one for less people. They have toys and wind chimes and metal works. I could have gone crazy but I held back and just got cinnamon rolls and fudge. I would love to come back in the fall. read more

I've been here a few times. Their prices are on the high side. They have a large variety of different foods and spices, cakes, desserts, kitchen items, candies. It's nice to go in and browse. Their spices are a good price so I get them there. Their cakes are ok...nothing to brag about. Cheesecake is the no bake kind.. not real genuine cheese cake.. it's from a box so I won't get that again. I've driven by this place for 2 years, always thought about stopping, never did, now kicking myself for not. I finally stopped here to see if they might have a good looking cake for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary. I wasn't really sure what to expect but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. The first shelves were lined in all kinds of goodies. Multiple varieties of flavored pound cakes, all kinds of homemade candy, and even rice crispy treats. Other shelves house homemade jams, bagged snack mixes, a few bread varieties, and large bags of flour. It was quite a smorgasbord of baked goods. They have a deli counter with unsliced cheese and meat that they use to serve up sandwiches. I ended up with an orange cake, a Hawaiian Sunset cake, some candies for my husband, and a cup of their soft serve ice cream. I LOVE orange flavored baked goods and this pound cake was by far the BEST I've ever had...fluffy, flavorful, and moist. I told my husband he better be glad I only drive by there every two weeks or I'd spend all my money on the orange pound cake. The cake was ~$3.79 for a small pound cake. I've paid more for less for other orange baked goods and this is the best quality. The Hawaiian sunset cake was also delicious. This I found in a refrigerated section which held the iced cakes. It was a moist, fluffy cake iced in a whipped, not too sweet, coconut and crushed pineapple filled icing. The price ~$6.79 for a single layered cake, but it was good and worth the price. I thoroughly enjoyed the soft served ice cream on my drive home especially with the near 100 degree weather. My first bite left me wide eyed, smiling, and saying mmm. I'm not usually a big fan of just plain vanilla ice cream but this had a delicious vanilla flavor with the perfect amount of sweetness. The texture was similar to homemade ice cream but with a soft serve feel. It was only $0.99 for a cup that other ice cream places would charge you nearly $3.00 for. I may also be partaking in this treat several more times over the summer. I might even be able to overcome my stereotypical thoughts that vanilla is a boring flavor. If you're not from the south then this might just be a good place to stop to experience wonderful flavors of baked goods. I believe us Southerners take pride in delicious baked goods. We stopped in here while staying at Quail Creek Resort. We loved it!! We all ordered sandwiches, and it's so easy to just check each box of what you'd like on your sandwich!! They were all delicious, the bacon cheddar cheese breed is pretty amazing on a sandwich! We ordered a few desserts too, the sour cream orange rolls were delicious, not super sweet, they were perfect!!! Cherry cheese cake was delicious too! The Dutch Oven Bakery is a community treasure! It was a happy day when we discovered that we lived near a business here that offers so many of the wonderful, delicious foods that I knew from having grown up outside of Philadelphia, thirty minutes from the Amish in Lancaster. Our family has many favorites but when we visit we ALWAYS have to buy several pounds of Sweet Lebanon Bologna and a dozen bottles of Pennsylvania Dutch Birchbeer soda. My husband especially loves the molasses and jams. Their cakes and pies are delicious... I lve the coconut cake so much I won't try any other type though ( : We also keep bags of their small kernel popcorn on hand. I ended up here and I was hungry. This is a deli, bakery, and small grocery store. They have all kinds of pies and cakes, some even in single slices. They also have soaps and candles, the best smelling soap is the ginger peach! The candles are homemade looking in glass sugar shakers. If I'm anywhere near this place I'm required by my wife and son to stop and get homemade sour dough bread at the Dutch Oven. The Dutch Oven is a relatively small Mennonite Bakery just outside of Cullman on 157. If traveling 65 it's roughly 10-15 minutes off the interstate. They offer tons of homemade cakes, pies, candies, bread and assorted sweets and bakery goods. In addition to the baked goods there are a number of jams, jellies, pickles, soup mixes, sauces, dips, crackers, cookies, dehydrated fruits and vegetables. The deli is the most recent addition. As you peruse the aisles you'll see a number of toys, novelty items and even hand made furniture. It's a true variety store and destination shopping for many. My in-laws go bananas for the homemade apple butter and variety of jams including: grape, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, pear and peach. They also have natural local honey and fresh churned butter. You may see a rogue chicken or two wandering around in the parking lot and it's a bit off the beaten path. But If you're in Cullman or headed anywhere near the Shoals area it's absolutely worth stopping. You will spend far more time in there than you intended and you'll purchase far more than you need. The owner and employees are super friendly people of strong faith that live a simple life; however, what they produce in their store is extraordinary. read more

Thanks to the Yelp reviews, I went here to buy a birthday cake for my father-in-law while visiting from Oakland, CA. We got the four-layer Hawaiian Sunrise cake and the orange pound cake.
