3.5/5. I came here to grab a few donuts to take home with me a week or two ago. To be totally transparent, I honestly am not the hugest fan of donuts, so my opinion may not be the most informed. There's plenty of room to park and I like that they stay open a little later than many other places that offer donuts. It's more spacious than I thought it would be inside and there are a few tables to sit at. The trash cans looked a little full and one table had some sugar spilled on it but other than that it was clean and warm. Donuts are displayed in a case by the register. There were a LOT of choices and I remember it being mostly unlabeled so I kind of had to guess based on appearance. There was a menu on the wall but one couldn't necessarily 100% reliably match the listed items to their counterparts in the case. Not a huge deal, but would be a positive change imo to add labels next to the actual donuts. Anyway, I wound up with a chocolate cake donut, a blueberry cake donut, and a chocolate glazed regular/fried donut with peanuts on top. The woman operating the cashier was supremely pleasant and really made my visit - she was just so warm and friendly. She threw in a couple donut holes, either as a kindness or perhaps because they were nearing closing time anyway. Regardless, the were appreciated! I brought the donuts home to my husband and we ate them for dessert later. He likes fried donuts more so he got about 80% of the fried (I wanted a little bite lol), I ate the blueberry donut, and we split the chocolate cake donut and donut holes. The holes were airy and had a nice vanilla flavor. The traditional fried donut was a little dry and the glaze a little waxy, but the peanuts were a nice addition. The chocolate cake donut was heavy and the sugary exterior was crackly in a way I didn't particularly love, but it was tolerable. The blueberry cake donut was my favorite part, as it was fluffy and not overly sweet. Again, I tend to be kind of hard on donuts because they're just not my favorite treat, so definitely give them a shot and see for yourself how you feel about them. The most delicious and soft doughnuts I've ever had the pleasure of eating! I moved from out of state and my roommate introduced me to this place and I thank him every single Saturday morning when I have a simple glazed doughnut filled with icing! The staff is kind and wonderful and always add in extra little things with your order just because they can. It surely makes the day, Take today for example they added in a red velvet cake doughnut something I wouldn't have picked for myself and it was DELIGHTFUL and DELICIOUS! Ok so this place is like a hole in the wall business but they are oh so good. This is the only place in Decatur that I found to have Chocolate and Maple Bars, Apple Fritter and twist. This place also has what most would call Pigs in a Blanket. Like I said it's like a hole in the wall but I'd rather drive the extra distance to buy their Doughnuts than Krispy Cream or Dunkin. The doughnuts from Kaymay seem to stay fresher longer. Maybe because they make smaller batches the way they did 20 years ago and not from some assembly line machine like Krispy Cream. Don't get me started on Dunkin that trucks their day old Donuts in every morning to sell you as freshly made. Do yourself a favor and buy from Kaymay your family will thank you for it. This is my go to Doughnut shop from now on. read more

K May doubts, we went there for the past three mornings this week, giving them a chance to correct their mistakes, but they just don't care the owners have a so what attitude towards customers. We order four cream filled maple iced long John's Monday, we ask them to inject the white cream to please not cut them open in the middle ( that's so gross), well instead they went ahead and cut them open, we took them out to the car and checked them because they done it behind the scenes where we couldn't see what they were doing to the donuts, we took them back in and owner put them back in the donut window to resale! Tuesday and Wednesday we went back and asked for the same cream filled donuts, we got them home No Cream inside both days on Wednesday we got so sort of jelly filling spilled inside the container, we didn't order any red donut filling, so that tells me they are not clean neither , I refuse to go back to that donut shop due to unclean containers, selling donuts for more money and not having the cream inside that I paid for, and the owners arrogant attitude. While in the area for a race I found this shop close to my hotel. I intended to only grab a couple donuts as my "recovery" meal, but the selection was so great that I felt compelled to pick up a few extras. I was extremely happy with everything that I selected. If I had to choose a favorite, I'd go with the apple fritter. The cake donuts are nice too. Everything was well fried and not greasy. The owners were pretty cool, but the best part was the prices. Saying that I love little mom and pop donut shops like this one is an understatement. read more

After seeing great reviews on Google Maps, decided to take a detour on our trip heading south on the I-65 to K-May Donuts in Decatur, AL. Generally, I do not believe that K-May lived up to its 5-star rating. Although the donuts looked good on the shelf, they were thin and fell apart when eating. Also, the store was in need of a makeover. I met the owners, who were very nice, but need to invest more in the store facility and make the donuts more substantial. With improvements, a higher rating is possible, which is hoped for. When in the area, visit and report on their progress! read more

Great donuts and don't get me started on the apple fritters. Small but very efficient and heard they were busy early morning so waited till 7:30 and still busy. I would imagine they sell out based on most people getting one or two dozen and well worth the price which isn't inflated. read more

I used to think that Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Doughnuts were the standard of delicious doughnuts. But when a co-worker brought K-may doughnuts to work to share, my bar was raised. These light and fres doughnuts are so yummy! And the "plain ones" are lightly glazed instead of swimming in melted sugar. I also picked up one of their "pigs in a blanket". It was a hot dog and cheese wrapped and baked in a roll. The only downside is that there isn't one in Huntsville...but as good as K-may doughnuts are, it might be a good thing! read more

This place is much better than the one in Athens. The people there are very friendly, and have always been quite generous. The apple fritters are among the best that I've ever had when fresh. My advice would be that if you order apple fritters, ask if they are fresh. I think mine had been sitting overnight to save money on ingredients, so it was pretty stale. That being said, when they are fresh, they are amazing. There isn't much of a fancy coffee station. It kind of needs an upgrade. I wanted to say again how much I love this place. I went in today too buy food for many people, right before I left I got a text telling me some sad news. I did not tell the lady behind the counter but my expression changed from happy to sad, she looked at me and said hold on then went and got me a bread wrapped hot dog. This place is so good, but don't expect to find fancy doughnuts like the ones served at Krispy Kreme or Dunkin. Instead you will have your run-of-the-mill doughnuts made at a very-high level. My personal favorite is the blueberry. read more
