Who would've thought that this very plain looking restaurant attached to a grocery store would have such savory, delicious comfort food. The inside of this place literally looks like a college dining hall but the food is like something out of a loving grandmother's kitchen. We were in the area to inquire about building something for our home at a nearby business and the business owner recommended we come here for lunch-and we were glad because it's our family's new favorite! We love it so much we came back and ate here a second time. The first time we came I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was probably one of the best meatloafs I've ever had: tender and beefy. My son had the chicken and cheddar quesadilla with waffle fries which he loved. My husband had chicken soup and a lemon blueberry pie that was so good (he shared some with us). The second time we came my son and I hit Philly cheesesteak quesadillas and my husband got a club sandwich. Fast friendly service and the definition of comfort food. Come get some! read more

We stopped in for lunch today and it was very friendly here. No wait, and sat immediately. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The restaurant was casual and comfortable. Very warm welcoming restaurant with nice market attached. Staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. We had Matt and he was great! Had fried pickles, chicken bacon ranch quesadilla with fresh cut fries, and my brother had a BLT with fresh cut fries. Food was amazing, I dug in so fast I forgot to take pictures. The quesadilla was stacked full of filling and flavor, and I will be dreaming about it for a while. Fries were a little undercooked but with some salt and vinegar were great. Total cost with food and 2 drinks was $34 so not a bad price at all! Hate that I live so far away or I would be coming here a lot more often. read more

This was awful. The food is basically processed food put on a plastic plate. My husband ordered the meatloaf and the texture was so compacted it seemed like it was from a can. The beets were clearly canned/jarred based on how sweet and uniform they were. The beets were covered in a sweet cherry pie like jelly. The potatoes were decent but they could have been refreshed from the day prior with more cream and butter. Something about them.... I got the roast beef plate. The roast beef was heated on a flattop and covered in gravy that had a ton of corn starch so it had a thick film by the time it made it to the table. The max and cheese was premade and heated in house. The backed potato was cooked . But served with cafeteria style butter. I thought for SURE the rolls would redeem the meal... nope. Store bought rolls that were cold with cafeteria butter. The space is 1990's which matches the food. It was so cold in there we shivered while we waited 25 minutes for the processed food. We really liked this place for local Amish-style food. The place is nicely decorated and was well supported by friendly staff to help with everything to seating, dining and checking out. We brought a family of 7 and had no issues getting in for breakfast. Our sever Brittany was just wonderful, explaining "scrapple" to us and helping us through our options. She was prompt, courteous and just all around wonderful to us. We tried just about everything on the breakfast menu it seems, from pancakes (they are dinner plate huge!) to omelettes, breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato) to several customizable omelettes, breakfast scrambles, and more traditional Farmer's breakfast platers. Some of the highlights: the omelette options are endless, really. You can make it with as few or as many ingredients as you want and it doesn't change the price; this was a huge plus!! The omelets and scrambles are similar with the ingredients mixed in and browned nicely. Many of the specials came with coffee included which was another plus. There were about 4-5 potato options which was great; we liked the potato cakes the best as they were nicely seasoned and included dill; deep fried to perfection. The hubs and I have been to their restaurant a couple of times for their buffets, and the prices are pretty competitive compared to other smorgasboard/buffets in the area. The only thing is, you are working with limited items for the hot bar, with the dessert and salad bar being pretty consistent. I personally enjoyed their made-to-order cheesesteaks (they offer a variety of styles that can be customized), the ham balls, fried chicken, and their creamed soup. The broccoli salad is creamy and tasty, and they also have a variety of nice baked breads and slices of pie. Staff are always friendly, and they're pretty good in clearing the plates. Once you're done, you just bring your check to the front to pay. They have an omelette station, where they can also make waffles, pancakes, and crepes. They have French toast, stuffed French toast, baked oatmeal, etc... - Quality. Their ham slices are a decent thickness, which is nice. Not those deli slices of ham. Their omelettes are pretty good and have a decent amount of fillings. - Price. For the amount of food you can eat for the price, it's a pretty good deal. I've heard they also have coupons sometimes. Kids under 3 eat free, which is also helpful if you have little ones. What's Not - No hot sauce on the table. I had to ask if they have any and the waitress told me they only have Tabasco. Not bad, but I'm the person who like spicy foods and you better have spicy sauces. - Quality. Hubby noted that their blueberries for the crepes aren't fresh blueberries. My hubby is particular about his berries. They have cracker stew, which looks like it's saltine crackers in a bunch of butter and brown sugar. Really? This is our second time here and the food was just as hearty and flavorful and tasty. We had the AYCE salad bar which comes with soup and breads plus soft serve for dessert. Our waitress was polite, friendly, and helpful. This is a family restaurant with a lot of delicious options. Last time we had the breasted chicken with two sides which were filling. We loved their choice of breads especially the zucchini bread but not so crazy about the bread rolls (had a slightly off putting aroma). The soups were hearty and filling and they had at least four choices tonight: chili, beef vegetable, broccoli soup, and clam chowder. Pre-Covid they had an amazing buffet which held home cooked PA Dutch food as well as burgers, stir fry, and chicken fingers for the young and young at heart. Now that things have changed the whole restaurant is off of the menu which is still amazing. On my last visit I had balls, think meatloaf and with ham, topped with a pineapple glaze and it took me back to my grandmother's country dinning room. Today I found myself in the middle of nowhere for work (in a nowhere called Atglen). When I asked someone at the company I was visiting about the local selections for lunch, they said "Well, there's a McDonald's about 9 miles away; otherwise there ain't much out here". I'm totally bummed. Not particularly about the 18 mile lunch drive ahead of me (which was only mildly annoying), but the thought of having to eat that crap is certainly nothing to look forward to. I get out my GPS, and do a food/restaurant query of the area; a Wawa pops up, 4 miles away. "Well, that'll have to do today". So, 4 miles later, my GPS politely says "you have reached your destination" in the usual female voice with an ever-so-slight British accent. Puzzled, I look around the area, and find nothing but farmland, as far as the eye can see. Certainly nothing that resembles a Wawa. So, after briefly yelling at the inanimate electronic fool on my windshield, I notice there's a crest of a hill about another mile down the road...I figure I'll continue on to see what's over the top. A small town! Still, no Wawa (???) but I do find this place, the Dutch-Way Farmer's Restaurant. For a few cents over $8 bucks for the buffet, you won't find a more diverse, delicious lunch anywhere in Southeastern PA. I mean it...it's a darn good, well-made meal. I was stuffed after only two plates, but I couldn't be happier about my GPS being so totally wrong. The service & atmosphere were all very nice, and I will definitely get back to this place when I'm in the area again. (So I'm wondering...maybe my GPS knows more than I think it does).
