An update to my previous review. I went back here about a month later, to take my sister for her birthday. All of a sudden the policies had changed! We were there on a Monday at about 4 p.m.. I was very disappointed to find no whole Maine lobsters, the reason for me taking her there. They changed the policy to weekends and holidays only for the whole lobster. Granted they still had lobster, but as a Ginger Scallion Stirfry dish. The lobster was cut into small pieces, which were overcooked and tough and dry. The sauce makes it much messier to eat. I didn't care for it at all. The huge jumbo crabs I'd seen on my previous visit, on this visit were very small. I was rather embarrassed, as I'd talked it up so much to my sister and I promised to take her there for her birthday. I was sorry she did not get to experience the same experience I'd had a month before. Yes, there are still many options to choose from. That was not the issue. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with a party of 8. $39 per person with gratuity tacked on as well (assuming due to our large group) As a value proposition, this place is worth it especially if you're a shellfish lover. Lobsters and crabs were abundant. I learned about this place awhile ago from YouTube of which many gave praises. We frequented many mid level AYCE places like this and we've found that as time goes by, quality degrades with restaurants like this. Now there was a rather long length of time between discovering this place on YouTube and actually visiting this place. I wonder if the praises that were sung about this place were still valid. I would say yes. As previously mentioned, lobsters and crabs were abundant and makes it worth the trip on that alone. As for the other offerings, it was mostly surprisingly good. Don't expect Michelin quality food here. Generally, it's about the quantity BUT the food is pretty good. The sushi/sashimi shocked me a little. AYCE sushi is usually just passable but here, I thought it was pretty good. Everyone in my group loved the quality of the salmon. Other offerings, of which there were many, were pretty good. Standouts were the lamb chops in my opinion. Dessert options wasn't as extensive as the other AYCE places I've frequented but they do the job. Aside from the usual fountain soda options (serves by the restaurant staff) , they had a few fruit drinks and a milk tea option as well as some specialty drinks in a can. Scale 1 to 5. (Keep in mind that this is based on quality you'd expect from a typical AYCE restaurant. Food 5 (large selection of food and that shellfish!) Unlimited lobster, lobster sashimi, scallop sashimi, sweet shrimp sashimi, abalone, ox tail, lamp chop, blue crab, Peking duck, snow crab leg, grouper, soft shell crab, frog legs, you name it. Soft drinks, fruit tea drinks, milk tea, Japanese Ramune and some other canned drinks are all included in the price. Nothing memorable, but everything was fresh. I have a sensitive stomach, so I can usually tell when something is off, and everything here seemed clean and handled well. The buffet does get crowded around dinner time, so going earlier can make the experience smoother. One thing they do well is clearing plates. If you're planning to go on the weekend for dinner, try to arrive early the line gets packed, and wait times can run anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. I don't drive for 2 hours for a buffet unless it's great. I went there on a Saturday and timed my driving so that I get there at opening around 11 am. Don't want to deal with the crowds later on. This place I remember used to be a Toys R Us that I visited years ago. They have done a great job of decorating it. It looks very modern. I am a little confused to see the register line at the entrance. Anyway, I didn't have to wait long to get a table. I have planned only eating lobsters and nothing else. But after checking out what they have, I ended up eating a lot of other food beside lobsters. Went back again after a 5-star-worthy visit the first time! Once again this place blew me away! This time I went with my mom and her boyfriend and we all loved the food and left with our bellies full! Our server was very attentive to us, kept our drinks filled, cleared our table of dirty plates quickly, and didn't make us feel rushed or pressured at all. We were disappointed to see that there was no soft shell crab, honey-coconut shrimp, or egg custard dim sum (all of which were present during my first visit and I was looking forward to) but given how wonderful everything else was, it wasn't a big deal The building was still crowded even though we went on a Tuesday evening, but I hear on weekends the line can be out the door so in comparison to that it sounds like we avoided most of the crowd. The restaurant feels upscale inside, with beautiful lighting and a huge buffet layout. The seating is nice and spaced out so you don't feel crowded. The food was constantly refilled. All the seafood I found could have been kept hotter on the buffet, as it's lukewarm. Dim sum selections were average. Also they have skewers and grill section which were seasoned nicely. Many western food buffet options but I skipped those. Word of advice: Count your party twice because they will overcharge you. I had 31 adults, 1 child, and they added an extra adult to my bill. When I challenged it, the man in charge was smug and refused to listen, claiming his "notes" were perfect. To be smiled at while being essentially told I'm lying about my own guests is insulting. This has to be the largest seafood buffet I have ever seen!! They have a variety of sushi and sashimi, various Japanese dishes, whose names I can't remember, hot and cold crab legs, hot and cold, lobster, claws, and the "piece de resistance"(i'm not sure about that spelling)... all you can eat whole lobster!!! Throw in some tender, spare ribs, lamb chops and oxtail and that alone is enough to keep me coming back!!! They had the usual Chinese food, fair plus a variety of desserts. They also had this bubble concoction tea, which was free with the meal. The adult price was only $39 per person and five dollars less for seniors. This has to be the best deal in town!!! The downside... This place gets very crowded on the weekends, especially in the evenings. When I arrived at approximately 4:30 in the afternoon, there was a large line already inside the building. Two hours later when we left the line was outside the door with two different lines coming from two different directions!! We were extremely disappointed by our experience. We waited over an hour and 20 minutes while multiple parties who arrived after us were seated first, and it became painfully obvious that the issue was the presence of a service dog. A trained service dog is medical equipment protected under the ADA, not a pet or inconvenience. When we spoke to the manager, the response only made the situation worse. There appeared to be a complete disregard and lack of understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the legal protections surrounding service animals. Instead of addressing the discrimination appropriately, we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. No family should ever be treated differently because of a disability or the need for a service dog. I truly hope the staff and management receive proper ADA education so this does not happen to another person. read more
