We stumbled upon this buffet when Shady Maple was closed, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. While it wasn't quite as elaborate as Shady Maple, the staff was friendly, the food was good, and the homemade ice cream was a delicious bonus to finish the meal. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS We've come here in the past, and it's gone downhill. They really try to rip off customers and should be reported for health code violations. We came in last weekend for breakfast before going home. However, before even getting a second plate, the buffet was switching over to lunch. The one hot section was empty with the remaining breakfast items sitting uncovered on a cart. Normally, at a buffet, you can just get more food and it's not an issue. But they tried to tell us that we had to pay for the lunch buffet. We were confused since we had just came in during breakfast, and we thought it was ridiculous to expect customers to pay $60 for one plate of food. It was also ridiculous because no one had said anything before seating us. We explicitly told the hostess we were there for the breakfast buffet. If we weren't going to get more than one plate of food out of breakfast and would have to pay substantially more for when there was nothing else from breakfast, we would've gone somewhere else. However, no one said a thing and there were no signs that explicitly stated it. When the manager came over, we explained the situation. She stated that we had to pay lunch prices. In fact, she tried to tell us that we could've just taken the breakfast items sitting on the carts. EXCUSE ME?! That is so unsanitary and disgusting to expect customers to take food off of a dirty cart. I work in a restaurant as a manager. When we are taking away food, it's the same carts we use to hold dirty dishes. It's not meant to serve food off of. This violates basic health codes, and I will be reporting it. No wonder this place was so empty. They're charging Shady Maples prices with quality of food that wouldn't even compete against Golden Corral's. Unfortunately the young man at the grill needs to be trained correctly. waited for him to make a pancake for the lady in Front of me while he just did not take my order, then he took my order, 1 blue pancake then he made the handicapped lady wait to take her order till my pancake was done. He makes everyone wait till he is done with one order. The lady wanted corn fritters which by the way are done sitting on the grill. It was very annoying to see this. I was really looking forward to this place, especially since the Airbnb host recommended it to me the first night visiting PA. I deducted the first star since the food selection is limited, especially for people with dietary restrictions. I really did not get to do the buffet since I have a shellfish, seafood, pork, dairy allergy. I deducted the second star since I ordered the sirloin steak meal expecting to receive a steak. I was thrown off to receive a hamburger instead; when I asked the waitress, I was informed that this restaurant does not serve steak. The third star was deducted since the waffle my grandma got was mushy and soggy. Otherwise, the staff was a helpful and polite bunch of people. Simply disgusting! The place is not that busy, so the food sits. All of the food was dried out and the rice pudding was actually spoiled. When we brought this the servers attention he said, of that happens some times. So if they are aware of this but allow it to happy, risking customers getting sick this is unacceptable. I really wanted to like this place as there's a real dearth of smorgasbords open on Sundays given that Miller's was closed for renovations (and is one of the few open on Sundays) I should have figured it would be an interesting experience when I walked in and got the old vibe out of the gate. The decor was old, the furniture was old, the servers were old and the handful of customers in the 3/4 empty place in the middle of lunch were old. Even the food was old in that everything was either overcooked, dry or felt unfresh. Even the salad bar had wilted lettuce. The pot roast was barely edible, the fried chicken was dry beyond measure and even a piece of bacon was as tough as shoe leather. A lot of the food also felt like it came from a can and oddly almost everything was bland. Someone else here compared it to prison and hospital food and I'd say it is very close to the truth. The dessert bar was also just mediocre though the ice cream machine was not bad. The pies though looked really tepid and didn't motivate me to try any of it. The food was three stars but the desserts were five stars plus. First the food. The fried chicken and baked chicken had good taste. It was moist and cooked right. The salad was fresh. The sliced turkey in gravy was good. The cooked noodles in gravy was good. Sliced roast beef/pot roast was tasteless. The gravy had no taste at all. Hash browns were OK. Desserts were five star! Yoder Buffet went the extra mile on their desserts. The chocolate tasted so rich in chocolate. The vanilla was loaded with real vanilla. Had a doughnut with green icing and vanilla cream in the middle. It was loaded! Had vanilla cream on my hand (I licked it off) and so much of that green icing that it was falling off. Wow! We opted for Yoders buffer when deep in PA. Why find a Golden Coral when Yoders has this huge Pharmacy/Grocery Store/ Event venue / Buffet. Mac n cheese, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, fried chicken, salad bar, , two soup options, some frilled way too fishy fish, sofas, and above all Homemade Ice cream in the back - desert bar has no host so you have to fond the waitress. Worth the effort. Butter pecan is a winner as was some other unknown mix. People are FRIENDLY and working diligently in this massive space. First time dining here, and Boy, did we ever luck out!! Every Friday till the end of August for $39.99, they have seafood night! Among the many offerings is all you can eat crab legs, steamed clams, breaded shrimp, mussels, fried oysters, and more. See their webpage for the list. The rest of their entire buffet is included, too. I was in crab leg heaven, and my spouse in steamed clam heaven. She can really go to town with them and so can others from what I saw of empty clam shells on tables! We got there at 4 pm when they opened thinking it would be really crowded. The buffet is really good. All the food I had was great. The deserts are really good too with a lot of varieties. The hot fudge is amazing.

I'm not out in this area often, but when I am it is usually for a Smorgasbord. Yoder's has a solid salad bar and good dessert options. They are easily 4 star. The hot entrees and grill options aren't quite a good. Prices and selections vary by the day you plan to visit. Service is great. You won't be left waiting for drinks or unattended to for any long period. The place is also clean and easy to navigate. Like other Smorgasbord places, the lines can get long, so plan accordingly. read more

Yoder's Buffet was an enjoyable breakfast! I was in the area and didn't want to go to Shady Maple. Yoder's is a smaller, certainly compared to Shady Maple, sized buffet and restaurant. You can opt to order off a menu, or enjoy the buffet. Breakfast buffet was $11.99 and drinks were extra. The buffet offered basic breakfast items - eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and beef gravy. There was no one manning the grill station, but the waitress said the kitchen would make fresh pancakes or omelets to order. I stuck with the items already on the buffet. There were no standouts, but I wasn't expecting there to be. My expectations were a hearty, standard breakfast, and that is what Yoder's delivered. read more

This was by far the worst buffet I've ever went to in my entire life. I didn't take any photos only videos. The french fries tasted like old McDonald's fries that been left out for hours. Everyone wears masks and uses new plates and gloves at buffet. Every other table was blocked up. We felt very comfortable eating We decided to order off the menu and so glad we did. Hubby had a chicken club and it was amazing. The bbq sauce on it was so good that I wish I picked up a bottle. My burger was so fresh. Kid loved his check tenders. Had lunch buffet today with my husband. Nothing wrong with the service but the food just wasn't good. Fried chicken was dry. I've gone here before and it used to be better. All the food I had was severely unseasoned. I had to put salt and pepper on everything I ate. Even my soup. It was a loaded potato soup.... Very underwhelming. Vegetables bland. Probably frozen. Meatballs had some congealed white sauce on them. Mac and cheese bland. The only side dish I really liked was the brown butter noodles. Deserts were decent however. Good lemon meringue pie. This used to be a Great Spot. Not any more. Fried Chicken was 100X better then KFC's Legs used to look like turkey legs. Now they look like they kill Baby Chicks to get their tiny body parts, and there's more breading then meat. Speaking of Meat. Tuesday night was always a Prime Rib treat at Yoder's. You could tell the man carving how thick you wanted a slice , and he gave it to you. No questions asked. Now there's 2 Big Fat Girls there, who think they paid for my Prime Rib. I'm not from this area, so to me, the food was bland. The baked chicken wasn't good. The fish was worse. However, the ribs and sweet potatoes were very good, as were the mushrooms. The salad bar had.wilted lettuce, all 3 types. My husband liked the brisket. He didn't like the baked chicken either. The desserts were excellent; whipped cream, soft serve, pies. The chocolate sauce was ridiculously good. Also liked the pumpkin dessert, as it's called. If they had a few more meat selections and made the salad bar a bit better, it would help a lot.
