I won't drag this out but the two ladies that work there are terrible for this brand of business , The service I received walking into this establishment is ridiculous as me and my wife walk enter the store I noticed a STRONG black and mild smell in the store as soon as I entered DXL ...After walking to what I thought was a casual section for a nice dress shirt and slacks for our anniversary dinner a lady named Dionna darted from the back area straight us asked us did we need help, I told her I needed what the occasion was and how I wanted to look but I also said I am on a budget her response was idk what budget means I was shocked she would even say something like that working in sales I told her my price I wanted to spend so she could kind of understand and this lady still takes me to there Michael Kors stuff when I asked about oak hill she smirked and said o that's what u mean by budget ... immediately asked for a supervisor and she walked off and came back with Davina the black and mild aroma became more stronger once she came from the back room to see what happened... I told her I was disrespected cause I was on a $200 budget wanting oak hill by her fellow co worker she smirked as well and kind of laughed at the comment and walked to take my sizes for a dress shirt and waist for slacks if u didn't need this shirt and slack for the next day I would of left because of the way I was spoken to as a customer, after the sizes was taken I was rushed to the cashier I asked if u could try it on they said all the doors are locked for the dressing rooms and wouldn't open and Davina stated she been in this business for 20 plus years and her measurements was correct ... once I got home in Chicago to try it on nothing fit I called back and one of them hung up in my face Please people do not shop at this location they have no service and no core value as a sales team read more

Because of my big feet, I have a hard time finding my size in most other shoe stores whenever I drove to them, so I started coming here every so often. When the previous store manager, Karl, was here years ago, everything was great because he had WAY better communication skills than the idiots who currently run the store (one of them is still here, but I haven't seen him in years). Recently, I got a job at the Panera Bread in Frankfort, and needed a second pair of slip-resistant work shoes. When coming into the store to look for them, I asked a woman who was working in the front very clearly "Do you have any slip-resistant shoes?" and she said "In the back". I was honestly hoping she would've stopped folding clothes to help me find what I was looking for, but I brushed it off and decided to go find them myself. After struggling to do so, I asked her again, only to be told "Oh, we don't have any slip-resistant shoes". Clearly, she didn't hear me correctly the first time despite how well I enunciated it! I walked away, shook my head in annoyance, and muttered under my breath "This woman doesn't know what she's doing!". I honestly should've just walked out of there, but she then comes over and pulls out this other pair of shoes, claiming "These have a good grip on them. Try these." Although I was getting internally frustrated, and becoming less willing to trust her at this point, I still took her advice because I wanted to find something acceptable for work. I tried them on and asked if they came in all black because I needed it to be that for work. She said no, but offered to order a pair that was for me, which I did, despite my hesitancy to do so. After driving home from that experience, my gut told me I made a bad decision, and sure enough, it was right. I got the shoes shipped to my apartment a few days later, and after completing some research on them out of curiosity, I discovered they were gym shoes and not work shoes. I was irate! Fast-forward to today. I went back to the store to return them, and because I was under the impression that woman was just an employee, I was hoping to have the store manager fire her for such incompetence. Unfortunately, Amarius (the one assistant manager who still works there) tells me she was actually the store manager, to which I replied "I'm never shopping here again as long as she's working here because that level of bad service was inexcusable!". I thought he would've been a better at his job than she was, because he's helped me on occasion when Karl was still there, and I didn't have any problem with him then. Now I see I was wrong. While I'll give him credit for at least trying to be helpful, his listening skills weren't that much better than the store manager's were because he stupidly puts words in my mouth when I told him she didn't give me what I wanted. For example, he for whatever reason thought I said I wanted slippers, and I had to sternly tell him "I did not say anything about slippers, I said I wanted slip-resistant shoes!". How much brain power does it honestly take to understand that?? On top of that, I had said "slip-resistant shoes" at least 3 times at this point. He apologizes for his misunderstanding and tries to find a pair of the shoes I wanted online, only to find the online store doesn't carry them either, so he gives me a refund. I then sternly told him what I said above about Karl doing a much better job, and he didn't say a word because he saw how angry I was and had every reason to be. I walked out immediately afterward. After doing some digging, I found out Shoe Carnival actually has slip-resistant work shoes and for half the price on their website. Being that I don't really need any new shoes outside of these ones, I now have a number of reasons to never come to DXL ever again! read more

Karl was awesome! Came in desperate. I was in town for a funeral (Mom's) and somehow the black suit didn't make it into the suitcase. PANIC I found this DXL, closest to the hotel and went for it. I thought if they didn't have it, some other branch in the CHI area could get it there by Saturday for the Sunday Funeral. I walked in, explained my emergency and Karl asked me two questions. Size of coat, size of pants. Shocked they had such a selection. Coat fit on 1st try. Pants too two (length). In-out in... wait for it... TWENTY MINUTES! Going back for a few other things. Two for two! Additional black casual pants for the wake (crappy lighting at home caused me to pack blue) and umbrella. 10 minutes! Done! So happy.... read more

Went in for new pants for an upcoming wedding. Amarius was covering the floor on a Saturday evening. He immediately started asking all the right questions. Reason for visit, goal for the visit, discussed options. We spent about an hour getting to an end point that covered all the bases. Amarius was great. 4-5 different options and reasons offered. DXL will not likely ever be a "discount" option" but I always leave there with something that makes me feel "elevated". My regular guy got relocated and Amarius filled his shoes with aplomb. Great new location on LaGrange in Orland Park. The new store has more variety in both price and choice. If you're a loyal customer like me you probably got a coupon for a free shirt which enticed you in. That free shirt ended up costing me over a hundred bucks because once I was there, well, why not pick up some other shirts? Wait a minute, maybe that's why they sent me the coupon! The store is opulently decorated with rich woods and a natural look. The sales woman was very accommodating and helped me find my size as the tags are no longer color coded by size. This place is awesome! It is the only place my husband will shop. The quality of clothing and all items are excellent. We always have such great service upon visiting the store. A recent visit did not disappoint! Connie is extraordinary. She is very capable,knowledgeable,professional and warm. She was able to uncomplicate our in store and online orders completely. Seld admittently I walked into the store not in a good mood, Noah helped me out. Initially I wanted little help but eventually I needed some guidance. Noah could not have been nicer He offered me water, ideas and walked around the entire store suggesting items for me I was looking for a distinct item and her knew the product so well and suggested I think about buying the item online -which I did. I also purchased 4 shirts and a pair of jeans at the store. Easily he could have brushed me off as an unhappy shopper but he turned my crappy attitude around.
