The initial communication to book the movers went well. Then a week prior to my move I called to confirm the price, date, time, number of movers and any fees. However, 2 days before my move I get a text at 10pm asking me if I had a move scheduled, asked me to pay a deposit, and what day/time I wanted them to come. This was odd to me because I had already went over and submitted/confirmed this the previous week. So day of move comes, they were an hour late; and when I called to inquire where they were I was told they were on the way and then hung up on. There were 3 movers assigned to my move. They did a HORRIBLE job placing my belongings in my PODs unit. I could tell there was no strategic plan how they placed my belongings in the unit. Also, they packed almost everything in 1 POD when there was 2 PODs available to pack things so that neither were to capacity. Lastly, one of the movers used the bathroom in my bedroom and clogged it up. They did not tell me that they used the bathroom nor that they pooped and clogged it up. I will NOT use them again. The move was scheduled for 10am on a Friday, but the movers did not show up until 5pm, and the truck did not show up until 8pm! The excuse is that a truck broke down, but there are plenty of places you can rent trucks, and I even told them the nearest place to where I live. They did not do this and prioritized other clients ahead of me, even those with later appointments. They did not even have their own drinks and asked me multiple times. I missed a cable tv and internet installation because of this and could not have it done for several more days. From a tardiness perspective, this has got to be one of the worst moving experiences in history! This moving company needs to close its doors! read more

I chose Dylan's Movers because of the good reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with their work. We hired them to move a piano from one residence to another. They were suppose to ARRIVE at the first residence at 9am. I received a CALL from Nick at 9:03 am stating that they were just leaving and would be late (they were already suppose to be at the first residence!). They did not arrive until 11AM. 2 hours late! They indicated on the website that they had experience moving pianos, which they obviously did not. They didn't know how to handle it at all. They nearly broke the front legs while carrying it. They almost dropped it getting into my house (which was now 12:30!) I called the office to speak with someone and no one would return my call. I believe that it was a "small job" for them and didn't send their best. I would never use or recommend them again. Great move experience from a storage unit in Alexandria, VA to a single family home nearby, at a great value. The movers arrived at 9:30 am as scheduled and finished by around 2pm. A few things could have gone more smoothly: - Only two of the three movers I asked for showed up. However, the two movers that came were highly efficient, and I was charged the lower two-mover price and also provided a 5% discount at the end for the inconvenience, so that was not a problem for me. I myself participated actively throughout the day as a third mover to keep things moving quickly and make sure things were moved with care; the movers were very nice guys (my Spanish came in handy) and we enjoyed a pizza break together. - A table I cared about was accidentally dropped by the movers and scratched, which I wasn't thrilled about, but it's to be expected that there will be dings and scratches in the moving experience (partly why I was there helping) and I think in the grand scheme it was pretty minimal. - I also emailed the office a few days before the moving date to ask if I ought to apply to the city for a permit to block off the area in front of my house for the moving truck. The answer was yes, but it came days too late to apply for a permit (the Thursday evening before the move on Saturday), so there was a risk that we would not be able to park the moving truck. My wife asked a neighbor to move their car that morning, and all was fine. I considered those to be minor issues. Overall, it was a five-star experience for me in view of the hard-working, trustworthy and efficient movers, the excellent hourly rate (better than any of the many competitors I asked for quotes), and no major hassles or negative surprises in billing. read more

Not the best moving or customer experience, with little transparency. Despite giving an initial time window of 1-2, the movers did not show up until 3:30pm. It took several back and forth messages to get an updated ETA, including one message where they told me they would be even later because they wanted to stop for lunch. Additionally, while the initial quote said that 'all supplies were included' to include blankets, etc., I was still charged at the end for additional supplies including the tape to put the blankets on furniture. I would highly recommend Dylan's Movers! I used them for a small local move within DC. Mumbina was kind and excellent to coordinate with. The day of the move, she told me that the movers would be arriving 6 hours late. I was disappointed, but they were able to come 2 hours earlier than that estimate (so 4 hours late) and completely make it up to me by how smooth the move went. The movers completed the move quickly, cleanly, safely, and efficiently and they were very kind and polite. They did not break or damage anything. They charged exactly how much they estimated, which was significantly less than any other moving company in DC that i received a quote from. The woman who answered the phone was very helpful and friendly and promptly arranged a time for two men and a truck to pick up a sleeper sofa I bought in NE DC and bring it to Annandale, VA. I had called a number of movers and most of them never called back. As with most movers, they charge by the hour, but Dylan's offered the best rate. And while she predicted two hours, they did the job in record time and saved me money. The two men handled my sofa with care and arrived right on time. This is the first time I've ever used a mover for a local move. I was moving furniture from a family member in MD and moving to my home in VA. I used Yelp to help me solicit multiple quotes and Dylan's was the least expensive. So I thought, should I go with the least expensive or spend more with some companies that seemed more established and had more reviews? I thought I'd take a chance with Dylan's and have to say I was glad I did. Dylan arrived around 9:40 for a scheduled start time but he informed me by phone he was running a little late. He and his move partner were very professional and nice. They worked quickly and efficiently - I had 18 pieces of furniture that included quite a bit of glass from a curio cabinet and china hutch. Each was wrapped carefully in padded blankets. The furniture was hand crafted rosewood and again, everything was meticulously wrapped and carefully placed in the truck. Upon arriving to my home, they first helped move some of my existing furniture down to the basement to make room for the new furniture. They helped unwrap and clean out the pads, bubble wrap and tape. Everything was placed where I wanted it located. Looking back on the hourly rate, this actually really helped because the job that was estimated to be 3 hours ended up being 6.5. Personally, I had forgotten to factor in time for wrapping all the glass and furniture. You also have to factor in the commute time which was nearly 2 hours and the added time to wheel all the furniture from the apt to the freight elevator. So the lower hourly rate really provided some overall savings. read more

The movers already did a job before they came to my house so I can understand they were a bit tired. It took them a fairly long time to load my furniture but that was fine. My complaint is how badly they damaged my leather couch. It was already unloaded and unwrapped when I saw it and EVERY corner was scratched! They must've done a terrible job wrapping it. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. The owner quoted us $100 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours. But when we booked the move it went to $140.00 per hour with $140.00 travel time. With a minimum of 4 hours. They brought the smallest truck they could. My move was from Northeast Washington DC to Fort Washington MD. They asked for a list of furniture and accessories.we gave them a list with everything. The first time we weren't home we left our 23 year old son to show them some small stuff we needed taken.when we called 2 1/2 hours later we were told they were finished. We was ecstatic we thought that was fast and we were saving some money. We got home about 45 minutes later (we were closing on both houses (different story) when we entered the house they were gone but they left half the house. When I spoke with the owner he informed us that he move everything our son told them to move. For one thing you don't work for our son he was just there to let you in and show you a few boxes and make sure you got everything. They left our entire master bedroom set which they had to walk past to move everything else and was on the list. So he said he will have to charge us an extra 2 hours for the return and pick up. This was done on purpose. Now even with the extra 2 hours which would have come up to $630.00 but because he was paddling the move with a small truck and purposely leaving furniture behind he was destroying our budget. When all was said and done he tried to charge us almost $1000.00 which we didn't have. As I was explaining this to him he kept stating that this was a business and he needed all the money now. For one thing he didn't go by the list which he were adamant we supply and these professional movers didn't think that the bedroom furniture was being moved as it was taken apart the night before and stacked in the path of the move. Well at the end we only gave him $600.00. If they would have done the work right in the beginning we would have tipped them and they would have a $1000.00. See what bad business practices get. They will have to take us to court for the rest of the money. I would rather pay a lawyer than give them another cent.at least I know I'm being cheated from the jump read more

Hired Dylan's for a move, and was very impressed at first with their attention to detail and planning. So far so good. But I live in a property that only allows short trucks, and the rule is very strict. I could not get the company to simply measure the truck to make sure we'd avoid unnecessarily headaches on moving day. I was forced to cancel and find another mover, which was the last thing I wanted to do. When I asked the previously-helpful rep to confirm my cancellation, she ghosted. Although our movers were very nice, the overall move experience was very frustrating. They arrived an hour and a half late. On arrival, they informed me that they charge for tape rolls and furniture wrapping. While I'm fine with paying for that, it should have been something discussed when arranging the move and discussing payment. When they got there, they confirmed that it was a small job and wouldn't take long. It then took over three hours to move the small amount of furniture and six boxes such that by the time they arrived at the new place, it was so late that I had them put most of the things in the garage. They also said that they had a really hard time disassembling my bed which is why it took so long. Because of this, I had no confidence that they would be able to reassemble the bed correctly. I've moved four times with that bed and I've never had this issue. They also left all of their tape rolls and trash just lying around my old place. Overall, I'm very frustrated. read more
