I have been a member of Fitness Together in East Greenwich since the fall of 2008, about a year and…read morea half ago. I went there at a time that my health was deteriorating and my conditioning at an all-time low. One of my sons had said to me, "Mom, don't you even want to get well?" I joined FT and I was dragging. I complained constantly about everything. Yet each trainer I worked with just kept urging me on and my conditioning improved. About a year later, it was determined that my problems were being caused by a benign cyst on my frontal lobe. I had surgery (8.5 hours' worth) on November 24, 2009. I was in the neurosurgical ICU for ten days. During that stay, whenever the Physical Therapist came to work with me, I couldn't wait to get up and walk. If she said to do one stair repetition, I said, "Can I do two?" or three or four. Guess where this determination and drive came from? Fitness Together. My stay in the ICU was four days shorter than the average one. My neurosurgeon, Dr. Petra Klinge, said I could return to exercise 6-8 weeks after surgery. You know I was back at FT six weeks to the day. Early this June, I summited N.H.'s Mt. Avalon, an elevation gain of 1450' in the pouring rain, only 25 minutes slower than AMC's suggested time. Not bad for just over 6 months after brain surgery. This is the kind of conditioning and motivation I received from FT. The staff are friendly and professional. The owner, Robin Ball, is even spending extra time consulting with my chiropractor and physical therapist to supplement my particular needs. You know what else? They even let me bring in my own CD's. I visited often with my now-estranged father, though I never remember what we actually rented. After picking out an appropriately G-rated movie, we would drive back home and load up the microwave with popcorn, inevitably burning it every time. The popcorn bowl was a giant blue plastic behemoth that no one ever remembered buying, like it just appeared in the kitchen one day through an act of God. Can't speak for the women's bathroom but the men's hasn't been cleaned ever. Smells like urine everywhere, could go on about this. Gym floor is full of dust and build up, literally hand fulls at every bench and machine. Dropped a 80lb dumb bell carefully after my set and a cloud of dust came up at me. Don't think they've ever vacuumed anywhere in there. Otherwise not bad.

Prior to hiring Form & Function for my PT needs, I interviewed the owner, Gerrino Boni. I had 3…read morequestions. The first 2 involved my conditions and his knowledge of these conditions. The last question was "do you have time for me twice a week?" He assured me he was familiar with my conditions and how to treat them and that twice a week was not a problem. I hired him and began treatment the following week. After being a twice a week patient for well over a year, I showed up on a Tuesday for my regular appointment. As I began riding the bike, Gerrino approached me, stopped the bike, stood me up and said " I DONT HAVE TIME FOR YOU TODAY" and he led me to the front door. I'm not a confrontational person so I let it go. When I arrived home, I called the front desk to verify I had an appointment. It was confirmed. I was told Gerrino would call me. He never did. I sent him a very complimentary and respectful email asking for an explanation. What I received was an impersonal, partially cut and paste email which showed not only did Gerrino not value me as a patient, he had no clue as to my medical needs. I was told I was being "prioritized" to once a week. No discussion. I summarily fired him with my return email. I have been witness to several people coming in to that office exasperated because they can't get a return phone call. My experience has been the same. You will never get a live person on the phone. Christine at the desk is great. The phone system - not so much. Overall, this practice is far too busy and their customer appreciation could use some work. There are some good folks here. Kyla is excellent. PT assistant Brendan Ladino has always been top notch. They have interns who are always helpful. From & Function is too busy. Too busy to treat clients with dignity and respect.

With seven spine surgeries I always have tried to find the best physical therapy. Over the last ten…read moreyears I went to multiple places with all the same results. None of the previous places were able to reduce the pain or improve my flexibility. I lived with constant pain which caused me to use medication to limit the discomfort. So when a friend referred me with her experience at Form & Function I decided to try and see if they could help. My first impression when I walked in was that the facility layout and equipment was different from the multiple places I have tried in the past. I met the Owner Gerrino and he then conducted my personal evaluation in detail.I showed images of the surgeries and detailed my struggle and pain levels. His evaluation included checking my back area where the pain was and then using massage technique to help reduce the pain.. It was obvious he cared, It was his manner and honesty that convinced me to try again. That was a year ago with a few breaks during which I went in for maintenance plus getting a new evaluation. The treatment plan included a group of stretches that I could also do at home which helped keep the pain level low and have improved my quality of life. I have increased my steps count year over year as well. In additionI significantly reduced my medications with all the side effects.. Form & Function, the staff, Gerrino, Brendan, Christine, Michelle plus all the interns have one goal and that is the obvious. They are kind, caring professionals and make the experience as good as it gets. I strongly recommend 100%: Form & Function.
