    I hired Tom to take care of my back yard sunshade overhang that was damaged from a recent storm. He…read morewas fast to respond to me, and he came out that day to give me an estimate, which came in under the other estimate I received. So I hired him and he started the next day. He replaced damaged boards on the overhang, replaced roof shingles on the entire roof, and even went out to Home Depot to buy some paint that I didn't have. Finally, he replaced the damaged pulley shade and replaced it with a new one. Tom is a great communicator; he took his time explaining the work he was going to do and did, putting us at ease the entire time. His work is first rate and I'd hire him again in a minute should the need arise.

So when I wanted to replace an old mailbox with a security mailbox and steel 4x4 post located extremely close to city water lines I knew I had to find someone who knew what they were doing and cared to do it right. I am SO HAPPY I hired Tom!! He answered my call himself, gave me a quote during the call (after receiving an explanation and photo of what I wanted done), scheduled the day & time, arrived early and did a great job! He installed the post deeper to insure the stability & positioning of the post and was conscientious of the water lines. So if you're looking for a Handyman? Look no more. You will feel RELIEVED knowing you hired this professional, knowledgable, friendly and fair-minded handyman to accomplish your project! His great reviews are spot on.

    A tree branch fell and took out a section of our wood fence. The person who I normally call to help…read moreout with our house was not returning my calls. I went to Yelp and typed in fence for South Lake Tahoe. Was just about to call a company when I thought, I did not look at the reviews. After looking at the reviews, I am glad I did not call this fence company. I noticed that Handy Man Hotline had great reviews so I called. While I was on the phone with the woman scheduling the repair, I also noticed in the list of items said that they "rake". I scheduled the repair for the fence as well as a rake for all our pine needles. The following day when I was waiting the arrival of our Handy Man, I received a phone call that stated there was a miscommunication with the schedule. I received an apology and was told that my repair would be done the following day. In the past, I have experienced miscommunication with scheduling service and waited until I had to call and follow up. In this case, the phone call at the time I was waiting for service went a long way! The gentleman who repaired my fence and raked the pine needles was very polite, worked hard and did a phenomenal job. I offered him water, something to drink and he smiled and said, no thank you, I have water with me. After the job was done, I received an invoice via email. On the invoice was a "pay now button" and I was able to pay right away with a credit card. From start to finish, my experience was great.

I received an updated invoice today saying invoice is now due today. Perhaps the original invoice was a typo, if so, the owner MUST inform the consumer of that mistake and agree to the changes. They can not make a unilateral change without notice. As a consumer, you have every right to question what was done and how long a job took. I ask everyone this, if you have a truck snow plow, does it take 1 hour to move the snow on the end he of the road that leads into a driveway? Doubt it. Again, readers of this review, you decide for yourself. I never have any problems of paying invoices, but when I feel I'm being over billed I will request for full validation and justification. Again, I have used James and his services for over 4 years so I was a happy customer until this recent event so this is not a fake review. ---------------- I'm updating my review based upon a recent dealing with this company. I call and requested a one time plow after the storm. I've attached before and after pictures along with the invoice I received. Long story short, very dishonest in how they conduct themselves. James is the owner and he's stretched way too thin. He has this business plus a real estate company. When I received the invoice, it was for 2 individuals with 3 hrs of work plus one individual for a snow plow for an hour. I might be completely off base, but I'll let readers of this review decide for themselves after looking at the pictures if it warranted 3 hrs of work by 2 men and 1 hour of work by one other man with a plow. I emailed James asking for validation. His response was...."Ive already given a $5 per man hour discount". I wasn't asking about a discount. I wanted validation. If they did do 3 hrs of work, I don't mind paying. I replied back to James asking for validation. His 2nd reply, "​We dont do these neglected snow removal accts at all. I was reluctant because they are basically layers upon layers of ice. That is why we bill per hour​". To my readers, it was close to 40deg on Friday, and yes there was approx 24-30 inches of snow piled up, but the underlayer was not completely frozen. I replied to James and said I will reluctantly pay the invoice and post on yelp. His unbelievable response...."We're sorry for that you're upset about the service you received we will discontinue all business with you in the future per your request thank you." I'll leave it all up to the readers to decide if they want to do business with a man and his company who can't even validate the work completed and is willing to brush off a once loyal customer. I will never use his services again.
