When I moved here, my BF's sister referred me to her amazing stylist. I went to see Jackie and loved her work but I hated driving to Sacramento to get my hair done. So, when Jackie raised her prices from $120 to $150, it was time to shop around. Dynamic Images in Placerville was less expensive, closer to Cameron Park, and had good reviews. I kept getting their voicemail when I called so I left a message that they could call or text my number, whichever was easier. After that, Donna & I were able to connect. Their website prices are: 1) Partial Highlights are +$50 and if you add a Base Color (+$60) underneath then the total is +$110. 2) Full Highlights are +$95. When I spoke with Donna, I told her I had mid-back, thick, blonde hair but it had been 5 months since I had my highlights done. I was open to option 1 or 2 to refresh my color. Donna told me if I picked option 1 or 2 that her price was $120. I cancelled my appointment with Jackie and went to see Donna at 12:45 PM on April 10th. When I arrived, Donna was working on another client. For about 15 minutes or so, I looked online at blonde pictures and screenshot the ones I thought were closest to my color. When we sat down together, I asked Donna which picture looked most like my hair color. I went with the blonde color Donna picked thinking it was the easiest, most realistic color for her to achieve with my hair As I put on the smock, Donna changed the price to $170. I'm still getting the same full highlights at $120 and the picture just gave me an idea how the highlights would turn out so why the $50 increase? Donna doesn't really explain and I'm feeling like I should walk out. If I hadn't cancelled Jackie, I would have left. But now it would take weeks to get back in with Jackie so I said okay to Donna. Donna put in the foils and then left the room. There was no opportunity to get to know her or talk with her about my hair. I ended up talking with the ladies next to me about Yellowstone's 1923 finale. After the foils were done, Donna washed my hair. I was surprised my hair was darker, almost muddy. Even though it was wet, after so many years of highlighting, you know when the color is right. I hoped the blow dry would prove me wrong. Oddly, Donna air-dried my hair instead of giving me a blow out. So I couldn't judge a $170 color job because my hair was frizzy from air dry. I tipped Donna 20% because I thought if I gave myself a proper blow out at home and ended up loving the color then I'd have left on a good note to come back. As soon as I got home, John said, "Why is your hair brown?" It bothered me that I walked in with blonde hair, paid $200 total for full high-lights, and walked out with brown hair. So, I texted her. Donna said she quoted me $150 over the phone, which isn't true or I would have stayed with Jackie at $150. Donna texted me she would give me "a FEW highlights" between clients, "no blow dry" (leave with wet hair), and I had to come in at her schedule "within 2 weeks." Sensing attitude, I asked if it would be better if the owner fixed my color. Donna replied that I would have to pay if someone else fixed her work. Donna told me to arrive 11 AM April 24th. My car battery was dead that morning so I sent her a video to show her I wasn't making it up. I got the battery replaced at O'Reilly's by 2 PM and kept trying to reach her to reschedule. Donna rescheduled for 9:45 AM May 1. I arrived 15 minutes late. Donna came out to my car and told me that she wouldn't fix my hair. This felt like deja vu when Donna quoted me $120 over the phone for full high-lights and then flipped the script when I got there - except now she's been paid. When I said she was 15 minutes late the first time we met, Donna smirked, laughed it off, and made no offer of help. I honestly felt this was the FU moment Donna had been waiting for. Because I had rearranged my schedule to Donna's and drove to Placerville so she could fix her work and ended up with nothing. I went inside and told the owner, Fay, that Donna wouldn't fix my hair. From behind Fay, I saw Donna walk forward, see me, turn around and hide. The owner repeated Donna's version, which not only was untrue but shame on the owner for not reaching out. No help was offered so I told Fay I would write a review of my experience citing "the lack of kindness." In conclusion, if you are new in town and looking for a salon, do not go to Donna unless you're a glutton for punishment. For $200, girl, you deserve a better quality experience. read more

I have a credit remaining here from a gift certificate but haven't been able to use it because the salon will not return phone calls. Often the phone is not answered so I had to leave a message requesting an appointment. No call back. They have as much business as they want apparently. I have found this kind of attitude pervades the services offered in other salons so I guess it's no great loss to me but I'd sure like my $10 back! I did have a pedicure there one time and it was OK. I wish the employee would have talked less and paid more attention to her work but that's just personal preference. read more

Manicurist Kacie Pickard 530/313-0663 Kacie Pickard is a member of the cooperative: Dynamic Images. She was suggested to me by a friend who recommended her quality manicure and nail rehabilitation. A previous manicurist had damaged and further aggravated by my naturally frail nails. This seems to happen too often in most shops I've visited over time. Kacie is clean, observant and sensitive to detail; she maintains an especially clean environment, uses clean tools, and maintains excellent ventilation--i don't smell fumes. She's not overly talkative (which is a ++) yet bright and pleasantly social. I use Kacie's services for UV silicon polish, which she does tastefully, without damaging surface layers of my nails with files or other abrasives in preparation for polish. read more

I'm the type of person who does NOT usually like getting pedicures. I think I've had 5 before in my life. The last one nearly 2 yrs ago in S. Lke Tahoe and the guy used a freakin Dremel tool to merely remove the stain my previous red nail polish had left. Big no-no. He had me leaping out of my chair, too, with his 'massage' of my feet/legs. So TRUST is a big issue with me and my feet. Yesterday, I made a spur-of-the-moment call at 12.30 on a Saturday to Dynamic Images Salon & Day Spa... I wanted to treat my daughter to her first-ever pedicure. I was in luck! I had specifically asked if Maria was working and she was and she had a spot open at 12.45 and I told the helpful receptionist on the other end of the line, that I was on my way! With traffic on a Saturday through town I was delayed 3-4 minutes getting to the appointment. No worries, I wasn't made to feel rushed or anything. I was offered something to drink upon arrival... water, iced, wine... The facility surprised me, there was more to it then the store front let on. Extremely compact, but great utilization of space. Very clean! With Maria, I felt complete and total trust. I didn't leap or jerk out of my chair... I was completely relaxed... and my feet are gorgeous! Sanitation is a key item in this business and because I spent a good two hours in the salon, I was able to witness the process a few times. Everything was scrubbed and sanitized after each client and new tools were brought in, of course, upon a new clients arrival. Again, the TRUST thing comes into play... I TRUST that this salon will NOT give me a fungus... LOL! Love it! Love it! Love it! read more

I've been to Dynamic Images Salon & Day Spa twice now. Both times the staff, service and final product were just what I could wish for. The first time I went in for eyelash tinting with Elizabeth and a hair cut with Kendall. Elizabeth was AMAZING. Never before have I had someone take that much care with the safety of my eyes for tinting. Every lash was perfectly tinted to a rich black (my natural lash color is blond) and they look incredible - no need for mascara. Kendall did a great job on my hair as well. She took the time to talk (and LISTEN) with me about my hair, what it would and would not naturally do, and slowly added extra layers to the cut instead of just going ahead and chopping away as I've had many people do in the past. The second time I went to Dynamic Images Salon & Day Spa was last week. I had been convinced by friends to go somewhere else to get my hair done. Big mistake = my hair was butchered! I made an emergency call to salon and they were able to get me in that same day for an appointment with Kendall. While my hair ended up shorter than I had anticipated (due to the butchering at the other place) Kendall was able to pull off a fantastic "salvage job" and make my hair look great! I absolutely love what she did. Dynamic Images Salon & Day Spa is very clean, friendly and professional. I will definitely keep going back! read more

I had a their spa facial and brow tint. Penny, the estatechian, was wonderful. How could someone named Penny be anything but sweet. First she did the brow tint. I never had that done before, but I started to notice a gray hair or two on my eyebrows of all places! The tint stung just a bit but it wasn't not painful. Then she gave me the full on facial with a pineapple peel. My face is flaking now as I type this. The 90 minutes went by fast. I love the results of my eyebrows too. Penny was afraid I would thing they were too dark, but I love it. I don't have to wear much make up now and the darker brows make my brown eyes darker and more mysterious. I'm going back in four weeks to continue with my skin care. Oh, what else I liked...Penny didn't try to sell me ANYTHING! read more

Our experience with Dynamic Images was terrible from day one. We found Dynamic Images online, searching for a hair salon in Placerville to handle hair for a wedding. My wife chose to visit them based on the claim on their website that they had been voted the "best salon in 2008." ("By who?," one wonders.) Our experience nowhere near justified that lofty title. As a rule, Dynamic Images routinely failed to return calls, even after face-to-face meetings. Booking the wedding date and consultation was a quagmire; Dynamic Images claimed to have lost our contact information at one point. My wife and her matron-of-honor traveled over an hour to Placerville for a practice styling ahead of the wedding, but the stylist booked too little time and was only able to style my wife's hair, wasting a trip and time off work for our matron-of-honor. This notwithstanding that the "practice run" was NOT free--it was paid for at the same price as if it had been the actual styling session. As it turned out, the "practice run" accurately predicted what would happen on the actual event: the stylist was an HOUR LATE on the wedding day and as a result had to rush through the work on the matron-of-honor AND her mother. Both were unhappy with the work the stylist did on them. Worse, when the stylist arrived, she explained that she was late because she'd had to teach an exercise class as a substitute for a friend and had to head home to shower before she could arrive to do the job she'd been paid to do. Dynamic Images does nice work (when it does), which is why my wife chose to use them even after the breakdowns described above. However, they routinely demonstrated their unreliability and lack of professionalism throughout our relationship with them (which spanned several months), and to drop the ball on our wedding day was simply inexcusable. Our warning to those looking at Dynamic Images is that you may get nice work, but based on our experience, relying on them when it counts is a risky proposition. read more

I contacted this establishment several months in advance to schedule hair and makeup for myself and a friend for a wedding we were in. A few days before our event I was contacted by several people telling me various times our services were scheduled. I expressed worry and the owner contacted me to settle my fears. I had a special favor too and there was no problem. Alicia did my hair and I felt like she did a good job getting the look I wanted done which was not your typical 'wedding' hair. Penny did my makeup. Apparently she does not normally work there so this review is only partially for her. The makeup they used in the salon was cheap and you can tell I was wearing a ton of makeup. When I get my makeup done in Los Angeles my face looks flawless and natural. My pours looked like craters. My other small complaint is the falsies I bought that she put on with a serious heavy duty glue. Our eyes burned like hell and the falsies were crooked. I had to deal with them all night since they were not on right only to peel them off in pain in the end. I can't say I would return since I do not live there. I did not call and complain either which is why I gave 4 stars. Anytime you are in another city trying a new place it will be hit or miss. In this case it was just mediocre. read more

I have spent some time considering whether or not to do a review for this business, and eventually decided that I really should. My most recent experience here was with the esthetician, Andrea, and it wasn't all that I'd hoped for. I had previously had my brows done at Ulta, and wasn't particularly happy with them, either, as they couldn't take me at my word when I said I was trying to grow my brows in, and only wanted them cleaned up a little bit in the areas where I don't apply makeup. I kept thinking that it was somehow my fault, and that I had failed to clearly communicate my wishes, so I would go back and try again. But the 3 times I tried, I always came away from that place with a thin strip of brow left on each side, ensuring I had to spend a lot of time filling in the areas where there had been at least some eyebrow hairs to work with when I came in. So, I decided to try a different place and made an appointment with the esthetician at Dynamic Images. I explained to the new esthetician what my experience had been like before with getting my eyebrows waxed, and I even showed her a picture of what I was working toward. I really didn't think I was being so ambiguous, but perhaps I was? Or, then again, maybe not...when I first showed her the picture, she made the statement that everyone wants their brows to look like that, but that's not what I was going to get...and she tossed the magazine aside. Okay, I understand that she can't put more hair on - and certainly wasn't expecting any such miracles from her - but I didn't think she was going to take off the hair that was there to begin with, knowing full well that I would just fill in the bare areas with makeup wherever I wanted brows to be. When I looked in the mirror when she was done, I was kind of shocked. Well, maybe not really shocked - as it was the same exact thing I had gotten from the previous place - but very disappointed. When I indicated that I was less than thrilled with the results, she said that she can't put hair back on. Yes, I understand that - but why take off brows that were there when I walked in the door, in the areas where I have clearly indicated that want them to remain - even if they are just "fuzzies" ("fuzzies" that I was at least able to build on using make-up before I was left with completely bare skin in those areas)? How is it possible that anyone who was actually listening to me would think that leaving me with two thin strips of brow spaced way too far apart was going to be acceptable to me? To be fair and thorough in my review, she didn't charge me for the first session, and she indicated she still wanted to work with me. I agreed to make another appointment, and she seemed to be more attentive to my goals the second time. I was more focused on the left side, so she was careful not to take off too much brow on that side (though she was clearly fighting against her own desire to do so). But then, when she did the right side, she took off all the little "fuzzies" I'd spent two years growing in on the inner part of my right brow so that it began way too far inward. Since I didn't have a lighted magnifying mirror there, and didn't have my glasses on - and was more focused on the left side - I didn't realize until I had gotten home what she had done. As soon as I got home, I went to my lighted magnifying mirror to apply my makeup - only to realize that all those little hairs I had spent so much time growing in were completely gone! I literally stood there with my mouth gaping open in disbelief for maybe a minute or longer, saying, "No, no she didn't," and "I'm obviously not seeing this right, she couldn't have - wouldn't have!" And then, when the image in the mirror refused to change in spite of my protest, "Yes, yes she did - I can't believe it!" Then I recalled her having said something about removing the "fuzzies," but I thought she was talking about the light-colored ones on my outer brows, which I wasn't filling in with makeup anyway, so I gave her the go-ahead on that. I tried to excuse her, telling myself that it was just a misunderstanding - she really couldn't have - wouldn't have - done something like that on purpose. But doing so left my brows pretty asymmetrical, so there was almost a 2 mm difference in the starting point on the inner portion of each brow. And she left the inner "fuzzies" on the left brow, so...why remove them from the right brow? I am the one who has to present my face to the world, and I want to feel confident that I am presenting the best face I can. Do I have limitations? Of course I do! Who doesn't? But the way my brows look has a great deal to do with how confident I feel when facing the world. The guidelines estheticians are trained to use are not the same ones I would use if I could wax my own brows, and there seems to be something that prevents them from thinking outside of that box. At least, that is my very disappointing experience so far. read more

I went to Dynamic Images for some pre-wedding spa love and had a really good experience. My facial with Penny was lovely. At first I was disappointed that I felt like my skin was really greasy and lame afterwards but I have to say that depsite the stress of planning and everyting from the appt to after my wedding day I've really had no break-outs--I actually think it was really helpful in the end. Loved that Penny didn't try to sell me anything or make judgemental comments about my (lack of) skin-care regime. Worth it! I also booked the salon the day of my wedding for myself and my lovely ladies. The DI staff bent over backards to accomodate us--they even called staff who were starting vacations to see if they could come in and get all of us the appts we wanted. I thought that was amazing customer service--they acted like they a) wanted our business and b) understood that a wedding is, you know, rather important to get right. DI really stands out in this respect in my experience with wedding planning. We had a good time getting mani-pedis upstairs and DI provided chocolate-dipped strawberries and mimosas. (One peice of advice--bring your own bubbly if you and your ladies think Cook's is as heinous as we do! Glad one of my BM's brought something drinkable). My manicure looked great but fell apart literally a day or two later--I definitely expected it to last longer. But, my toes looked great and still do two weeks later so yay for that! There was a scheduling snafu with the massages that I had booked as a surprise for my friends so only a couple girls got them but again, DI tried their best to find a replacement and I think at least one more girl got a little massage as a result. I was disappointed but at least they tried to make it right! If I were made of money I would definitely go back to DI. : ) read more

I have had the best customer service ever! I found a gift card that a dear friend had given me years ago. I contacted Dynamic Images and asked if I could still use it by ordering products to be sent to me. Faye asked me for the card number and said she would get back to me. She e-mailed me a week or so later and said she would have to check archives. It is that old:) I even thought geez she probably won't be able to find any information and that's fine. Nope. I get another e-mail she found it gave me dollar amount and said I could order and have products shipped. I wanted to send something to my friend. Faye said she would be happy to share some ideas and would wrap it and ship it! She texted me some great gift ideas with pics etc. I chose the Morning Mint collection. Faye made it so easy I texted pic of gift card and it was done. She said she would even send a picture wrapped which she did. Including a message from me. Any more who does that?? Of course after looking at some of those great products I'll be ordering for myself. Thank you so much Faye.! I'll let you know when Penny gets it I know she'll love it. read more

Donna Cockrell has been cutting and applying highlights to my hair for the past few years. She not only listens to me but has ideas and suggestions about my hair. She has been very helpful with giving me a younger appearance. I have also become addicted to the facials by esthetician, Rosie Killam. The deep cleanings and suggested products have really improved my skin tone and dry patches. Donna and Rosie have become a big part of my life and appointments I look forward to. read more

Dynamic Images is one of the more upscale salon and day spa's in Placerville, they have great salon quality products, my favorite Alterna made from hemp, and the feature beauty and spa products as well. A great perk is the packages that you can purchase which make easy and fantastic gifts. I would definately suggest that you go there for facials and massages...they are amazing!! The downsides: The parking, The hair stylists there are older and while they know their product, I would personally go somewhere else. read more

I am so thrilled to be a client of Fay's at this salon. From the moment I booked my first appointment, I knew I was in capable hands. I had been going to someone who didn't know what they were doing, and my hair was a mass of lank, overbleached, straw. Fay, a trained master colorist, really listened and heard me when I told her what I would like my hair to look like. We talked, she made suggestions, and I relaxed knowing I was in the hands of a well trained, color savvy, professional. Although she put stuff on my hair that was a strange orange color, the results were just gorgeous. She then gave me a fabulous haircut, and made recommendations about what products to use at home to help retain the color and slowly bring my hair back to health. For the first time in a couple of years, I am happy with my hair. Oh, and did a mention that Fay is a pleasure to be with?
