We did Installations for them and they still us over $26k in past due invoices for installs we completed months ago. They owe another subcontractor over $200k. Their license is suspended and has been for months. They legally cannot contract work but still do so unlawfully. The owner Matt Watkins does not live in CA and doesn't have a grip on what he's doing. Good luck with trying to get them fix any warranty work as this falls under the subcontractor. They don't answer calls or emails if you have an issue or anything post install related. We've began a formal complain with the Contractors License Board and have began legal proceedings against Bay Area Turf. Due your due diligence and do not hire this company. You have been warned!

Did a horrible job on the deck, used the wrong wood, none galvinized nails, not enough stringers, tried to drill in to the retaining wall, boards were all crooked, didnt staple the weed barrier down correctly and it got sucked up in to my pool pump and burnt up the motor. Didn't stick to his times and days we agreeded to, always had an excuse. Missed the time frame by 3 months an acted like nothing was wrong. The pavers "he did" (someone else did it) are not even a year old and the grout is already missing and I called him since its under warranty according to our contract and he never showed back up to fix it like he said he would and stopped answering my calls and texts. Again I would not recommend this guy to do any type of work around your house unless you want half ass work and cheap material. Oh an also when they did the cement the company came to my door asking questions because he paid with a stolen credit card, guess he actually had to pay for it so he got cheap on me when he went to build my deck around the pool. Had 3 different companies come give a quote to fix the deck an they all said the same thing, "who ever attempted to build this deck has no clue what they are doing". Called the office and Adam came out a couple of days later to inspect our lawn and give us a quote. After talking to a few other local vendors, we decided to go with FENIX and we are really pleased we did. Adam, Kimberley and Erica communicated really well and answered any question we had about the entire process. They provided us with a few turf samples as well as an extensive list of referral addresses we could use to inspect their craftsmanship and the quality of the installed turf product. I was respectful and kind. around maybe 4 o'clock this man starts yelling at me telling me get away from my booth don't stand in front of my booth. Loudly in front of my customers.. I was embarrassed, so I kind of walked away, not knowing how to react because I was shocked that this grown man was yelling at me then he went and told to the home show that I was standing in front of his booth, which I was not so I just decided to stand on the other side by the other booth so he wouldn't feel uncomfortable, which I should not do that. I paid thousands of dollars like everybody else did for this booth. so then we go onto the next day, which is Sunday show starts at 11 o'clock. This man was still 30 minutes late. I noticed because I was early and was kind of nervous to go to the Home show because I didn't wanna to get yelled at again by this man so this time I recorded everything the whole event . this man started yelling at me again in front of my customers. in front of my 13-year-old daughter in front of my five-year-old daughter, calling my husband a fat bitch saying he wasn't scared of him. Nobody did nothing to him. He was really bothered by us that we were friendly that we were kind that we were offering gifts or maybe it was because we were "Hispanic". I don't know if it was a race thing. This man never got off of his chair to sell anything he was on his cell phone the whole time and when people came up to him, he said, are you even interested in grass? That's not how you talked to customers he was rude and disrespectful. Maybe he just didn't want to be at the home show. I asked him if he was the owner he said no I told him that I was gonna call the owner and tell the owner how he was treating me he said he didn't care. I told him that I was gonna put a yelp review. He said he didn't care. I told him I'm going to put you on social media and I'm going to make field of grass solutions. Look bad because of you the way you are treating me other people around you saw you oh and you were telling on other people at the home show other contractors you were trying to make other contractors look bad I would never work with field of grass and I will tell everyone not to work with field of grass and I hope no woman has to deal with this man . not right, not even an apology.
