Unfortunately I had an oil leak at the rear main seal and I was unable to do the work myself. The challenge was finding a safe place and a lift. I started looking online to find a shop with great reviews. Lo and behold I can across STP Diesel Shop. I started looking at their reviews and saw nothing but great things. I was still hesitant but decided to go over to shop and talk to staff. Ed was very knowledgeable and honest about what needed to be done. He even showed me some work that they were currently working on to put me at ease. He then scheduled me for a date of service and next thing I know I was dropping it off and hoping for the best. Ed keep me updated with progress and findings. He wasn't pushy about anything. He recommended a few things be down while truck was in shop. Don't expect a discount, they are proud of their billing. When owner confronted why 3 weeks to diagnose the truck no substantial answer but closed on the weekend. The reality you are no longer a customer but a hostage. The parking lot looks like a junk yard on dirt. Better to get a detailing job after the experience. The cherry on the cake was sent home with no oil in the truck. Lucky I checked when at home. Made me question the integrity of the job completed. Time to go back to basic customer services and get little bit more humble with humility.

If you have a vintage Datsun you should be well aware of this place…read more I found out about Doug and his team from Scroggins Machine Shop, another highly recommended place, and lets just say had I known about them I would not have taken my 76' 280Z any other place first. My car was what could only be described as mechanically "rough"; I bought it about a year ago as somebody else's project and managed to get it running but just barely. Basically, the head needed rebuilding and was in need of a valve job, the engine itself needed rebuilding, the fuel system needed replacing, as well as the brakes and electrical components to get it street legal. Awesome Z was thorough and thoughtful about the whole thing and comparatively speaking surprisingly affordable. There are shops in Houston that say they work on Datsuns but Awesome Z really has a passion for them. Go in there shop and all you'll see are S30 chassis, some S130s, and occasionally more modern Z cars. You'll also find a crew very knowledgeable about the cars they work on will give you plenty of options on which way you want to take your build. I can't wait to continue working with them, they definitely have a customer for life.
