Especially because the Farmer's Market is run by the City of Santa Monica, and animal control and public resource officers are departments of the city tasked at addressing these issues. Yet, I rarely see them at Farmers Market, let alone the park with off leash dogs running everywhere. There's no excuse for not addressing this issue. It doesn't affect my 5 star rating because I still think it is very well run, it's clean, I want to give small businesses vendors the business they deserve, and I think Farmer's Market is a good resource to the community. He introduced me to this market years ago and it's fun each time! It's exciting seeing all of the vibrant produce, and often times, I'm introduced to something new! Fruit, Veggies & More | I'm amazed by all of the colorful, vibrant fruit and veggies all around! The samples are fantastic and usually gets me every time! Haha! Everything tastes so fresh, it's such an eye-opening experience! Produce straight from the farm truly makes a difference, it's like an explosion of flavor in a totally different way! I truly can taste the difference! Purchases of the Day | The Blood Oranges were so full of flavor, tasted like half orange and a bit of grapefruit! The Cherry samples were love at first bite; got the large container! The Red Velvet Plums had me at first sight, as I love the name! Haha! They were really good! I tried so many Plum samples & they stood out the most! The peaches were so full of flavor! I immediately imagine putting them in my morning oatmeal, as well as yogurt! They taste so good on their own as well, yum!! Scenery | It's quite the busy market, as there so much going on, but also relaxing atmosphere! This time there were small tables and chairs where people were dining! There was a musician playing a guitar and he started singing to me, it was really cute! People were so friendly, both at the booths and while walking around! Each booth I visited had the friendliest customer service and everyone was so knowledgeable about the items! Once I finish all of the different types of tea at home, I'll have to buy your tea!! Fun! Sightings | Vibrant Beet Noodles! Toffee almonds, and toffee sunflower seeds! Two separate flower stands with gorgeous flowers of all kinds, as well as friendly people at the stands, who knew the details of the flowers! There was also a long line at the Kombucha stand! I sampled several items, which caught my eye, including Banana Bread Spread(pecans, hazelnuts, freeze dried bananas, raw local honey & sea salt)! Yum!! Busy Bee | It's quite the popular place to be! There were plenty of people throughout the market, even more than I expected, bright, and early at the start of the market! Hours | Each Friday! 7AM-11AM! Parking | Free spaces in the parking lot! Samples | Several throughout the market, which is a great introduction to new items and seems to get me every time, once they spark my taste buds! Haha! To-Go | Several bouquets of vibrant Flowers to add to my colorful vases, Lemons, colorful Carrots, toffee Almonds, toffee Sunflower Seeds, and Banana Bread Spread! It's open every Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and it's the perfect place to pick up fresh essentials for the week. What I love most about this market is how easy and convenient it is. Parking is simple, it's never overly crowded, and you can pop in and out quickly -- even before work since it opens early. All the vendors and farmers are super friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. You'll find everything here -- fresh produce (including delicious avocados), beautiful flowers, Mexican food, salsa, and so much more. It has all the basics you need without the hustle and bustle of larger markets. I usually go to the Wednesday Santa Monica Farmers Market, which is great but much busier and more competitive when it comes to parking. By contrast, the Friday Venice market is much quieter and more relaxed -- truly a hidden gem. If you live nearby and have Friday mornings free, I highly, highly recommend stopping by this market.
