If I could give Richmond zero stars I would. We purchased a multi-million home from them after…read moreconsidering many other builders in the area (Orange County, California) based on their promise to meet construction timelines and their claim that they provide unparalleled customer service compared to "lower end" builders like KB Homes. HUGE MISTAKE. First of all, when we signed our contract in March 2017, we were told the house would be built in about 8 months. If there were delays, we were told, the house would be ready by December 2017. It is now one day away from JUNE 2018 -- OVER A YEAR LATER -- AND STILL NO HOUSE. Yup. First we were told there was a delay because Richmond needed to build a community asset before they could proceed with the houses. Then it was "there's not enough workers" -- and yet, I continued to get phone calls and emails from other developers in the area who were building similar sized and grade homes without any apparent labor shortage issues. In fact, I was about to buy from one of the other developers but didn't do it because construction wouldn't start until September 2017 and I thought the homes would not be built in time. So we were told the delays were because of labor shortages (because they won't match or beat the rates paid by other developers, likely). But worse still, we were told that there were delays because the construction team didn't adequately time different scopes of work. We were given every last excuse in the book. Meanwhile, we sold our house prematurely thinking we would already be in our new house which, in our prior housing market (high demand area of Los Angeles), translates to multiple thousands of dollars being left on the table, i.e., at least $50-100k. On top of that, we anticipated having to rent an apartment for only 4-6 months. It's now been a year. We've had to extend our lease. And the last extension we did was for another 15 days only to find out we won't be in the house in time even with the last extension we requested. So now we're being forced to pay a per diem rent. We are also out several thousands of dollars for storage pods not to mention thousands more to lock in our mortgage rate because of rising interest rates. RICHMOND HOMES WILL LIE TO YOU TO GET YOU TO SIGN A CONTRACT! Would never EVER recommend them. The kicker? When we picked our options, I requested the same configuration as the model house which featured a 6-burner Wolf stovetop with a single griddle. The design center entered the wrong information and ordered us a 4 burner with double griddle. As soon as I saw the appliance go in, I requested a swap out. I was told that, no, I had picked the 4 burners. The picture on my design sheet shows 6 burners but I'm being told that because the contract which refers to the serial number (like a SKU number) I can't get this switched out even though I'm offering to pay for the price difference. So basically I am being forced to pay for Richmond's many, many, many mistakes. STAY AWAY! There are so many other good, trustworthy builders out there -- at least compared to Richmond.

I'm sure there are probably worse companies in the world but it's shocking how little this company…read morecares about the houses they build or their customers. I unfortunately purchased an aspen view home and found afterwards a major construction defect in the central air system that's so bad I have to literally shut the system down at night and run space heaters in my house in the winter and fans in the summer. There is non stop clanging, pinging, popping and banging noises anytime the system runs. Since the home was still under warranty I asked the builder for help, they came out and literally cut several holes in my ceiling and tried shifting the air ducts around, then finally gave up and never patched up the holes or fixed the problem. I cannot recommend staying away from this company enough. DO NOT BUY AN ASPEN VIEW HOME!!!

The roofer said that the flashing was done incorrectly, and that Aspen View should have caught it. I paid for the repairs out of pocket. The latest problem I've had was the electrical wire broke in two places under the driveway, leaving me with electricity in only half the house in August 2021. After waiting 4 days for Aspen View to call me, they said that my warranty had expired and they weren't responsible for the repair. Swartz Electric had a new trench dug completely under the driveway and then they ran new wires in the trench. They said the damage was done in construction. A 2 1/2 year old house should not lose electricity! The wiring was expected to last 40 years. I took Aspen View to Small Claims Court in March, and after reviewing all of the evidence, the judge awarded me the Money Judgement. I am still waiting for Aspen View to pay the Judgement. I am 72, a retired school counselor, and this $6,750 had to come out of my meager savings. What I thought was an upstanding company has turned out to be quite the opposite. Their lack of attention to detail has cost me both the roof repair and the electrical repair. I would NOT recommend this company.

We had an outstanding experience with A2Z Builders and our project manager, Noam Bar-On…read more They transformed the unfinished portion of our basement -- which previously had bare concrete floors, an awkward HVAC unit hanging in the middle of the ceiling (that I constantly bumped my head on), and a poorly defined utility area -- into a thoughtfully designed, highly functional space. What was once an uncomfortable, underutilized area is now a beautiful basement with a dedicated office, a workout space, and a much better-sized, well-organized utility room. In addition, they replaced all of our carpet with hardwood floors throughout the main level, and the results are amazing. The craftsmanship and finish quality exceeded our expectations -- the house feels completely elevated and refreshed. Noam was exceptional throughout the entire process. He worked closely with me on the overall design, offered smart and practical solutions, and truly understood what we were trying to accomplish. He came by daily to make sure every detail was executed correctly and was always attentive, responsive, and proactive. His hands-on approach gave us a lot of confidence that the project would turn out right -- and it absolutely did. I can't say enough good things about Noam and the A2Z team. If you're looking for a contractor who is thoughtful, detail-oriented, and genuinely cares about the final result with a great value, I highly recommend them.

Then we decided to get a digital rendering of the porch which came out great, but came with a price of over $1k in addition to the initial Estimate which was over 40k. Some time went by and we heard very minimal about the project between March and August. I decided to do a review on yelp to motivate the company to do something with our project. I received a phone call from the PM about how this affects their business. I agreed that I would remove that review and add a review at the end. Our understanding was that there would be quality control and communication weekly along the way however; this was not the case. There were days where the painter and foundation person came when they said they would and other times they didn't. A couple of times I would go out and look and tell the construction worker that the quality was not acceptable. This occurred on more than one occasion. I called the PM to tell him that this was the problem. It got fixed and we ended up with a beautiful porch in Mid November with a total of $45k spent. If you have the time and money to spend to guide this project the exact way that you want then yes, otherwise; I would recommend a different company.
