You can trust this place and the owner. I typically don't trust mechanics. I do all of my own work on my vehicles because I find that mechanics overcharge and consistently fail to fix problems. I've had mechanics break things and blame me, I've had things "break on their own due to random circumstances" within 5 minutes of oil changes, etc. For the past several years, I have done my own work and I have enjoyed success and frugality. I took my jeep to John (owner) several months ago because I faced an air conditioning problem I just couldn't fix. He fixed it, UNDERcharged me, and thanked me for my business. I took my jeep to him again for a separate issue. He looked at it for a minute and told me the problem. He told me how to fix it and he didn't charge me. Of course he could have "looked at it" for a fee, but he knew I liked doing my own work. I took my jeep to him a third time for another issue. He UNDERcharged me again, so I left a tip. And when I say "UNDER," I mean he charged $50 where a dealer would have charged $200-$300. What can I say. Don't waste your time elsewhere, seriously. read more

We live in Visalia and had a blown tire on the highway. The tire also did some damage that wouldn't allow us to start the car. It was a Saturday afternoon when we frantically called (all other shops were close for the weekend or wouldn't see us). John (the owner) said he was closed but that he'd stay open and try to help us out. He stayed open an extra 3 hours to wait for the tow truck and repair the car. What a blessing after an already long road disastrous road trip. The cherry on top was that he called us the next day to make sure we got home safe. I would recommend this shop to anyone. Honestly, this place exceeded my expectations. And my expectations were pretty high based on the reviews here. I had a do-it-yourself job get over my head and had to tow my car to the garage. E & M fixed the issue for less than I paid to tow the car, and even without an appointment, the car was ready within two hours. On our eight hour road trip to Northern California the air conditioner became anything but effective and I was sweating bullets. Unable to have a Honda dealer near Stockton look at and fix the problem (their air conditioning unit was broken), we continued north until we hit Turlock and found E&M. Wow!! They didn't need any machine to diagnose the problem - they just took out the air conditioner filter and showed us how clogged it was, replaced the filter, recharged the unit with a little freon, and within minutes we were on our way with an icy breeze blowing in the car. It cost a little more than 50 bucks, plus they gave us great service with a smile, and I was a happy camper. read more

I called ahead of time and John quickly diagnosed the problem over the phone. He told me I could bring it in same day for him to check it out. I got there around 3pm knowing they would close soon. Roe at the front desk greeted me kindly, saying "How can I help you? We treat customers how we would want to be treated." I left and by 5pm I already had a call back with the problem and estimate. I agreed and he said it would be done by tomorrow! Wow!!!! The very next morning I got a call around 11am recommending a battery swap and he recommended the cheaper one since I am getting a new car soon anyway. Most would just tell you they only have one and it's the most expensive. None the less, I agreed and he said it would be ready in a few hours. This is my first ever yelp review because I am so impressed with the service I got today! I took my car in for AC problems a few weeks ago. The source of the leak wasn't able to be determined at the time so I had a temporary fix and was told to bring it back when it stopped working. Took my truck to E&M auto (without calling ahead)to resolve a problem I was having with my serpentine belt. I was greeted right away by a mechanic and assured that he would look at the truck as soon as possible. He found the problem very quickly as said it was an easy fix. I took my wife's van in for some AC service a couple of years ago and they did a great job. Now my 2003 Chevy Silverado had quite a few things that need to be done to the engine. I was expecting that it was going to cost a fortune because the engine has been modified and there is a lot of extras under the hood to get in the way of the repairs. I did not bring a car in to get fixed, only to be diagnosed. We were interested in buying a car and gave no notice to E&M about bringing the car in. They had a very busy day with many cars waiting to be fixed, but since they were aware of the fact that we drove about 60-70 miles to check this car out, he fit us in to run a diagnostics test. They have high-tech computers that they hook up to cars to check for sensors and overall well-being of cars that not many shops have. I was just really appreciative of the fact that they fit us in, first in line, with no notice. It showed me that they are not only excellent mechanics, but compassionate as well. I've done my research about where I wanted to take the car I was looking at to be checked out and E&M was the only shop with consistent, good reviews and I was not disappointed. I do not write reviews much at all. In the few years that I've been a Yelp member, I've only been compelled to write 4-5 reviews, total. E&M impressed me so much, I felt so well-treated, that I felt like this is the least I can do to show how much I appreciated their excellent customer care and honest professionalism. My AC suddenly stopped working, which is not fun in 100 degree weather! I brought my car in and the owner was super helpful and friendly. I was expecting to have to wait forever, but they work fast!
