I called several bike shops in Santa Barbara to help me (actually install) with a bike rack & fenders for a Sonders E bike I got from Costco.com... after an hour of frustration trying to install it myself I called 3 bike shops, each one said they might be able to help me but said I'd have to wait 10 days plus and suggested I bring the bike and the rack/fender (large Box) to see if they could maybe "help" me. I made these calls at 4:30pm and fortunately they were all closing at 5:00PM... as luck would have it I did one more google search and found E Bikery on State street in Santa Barbara.... They were open til 6pm... I called them and asked if they could help me.... Response "Absolutely" with a nice British accent... needless to say I hopped on my E bike (followed by my wife in my car with the large box) and went straight to the shop... we arrived at 5:45Pm... after fully inspecting everything they kept my bike and early the next morning they were done.... The cost to fix it was $40 and was expertly done. I ended up buying a basket to fit on the rack... also a good value! Going forward these guys will be my go to EBike shop for maintenance and parts and if I'm in the market for a new bike, I'll definitely consider using them... they are straight forward and honest. read more

This is a really nice newer bike shop on State Street which does both rentals and sales of Ebikes. When I first entered I was impressed by the friendly clean and uncluttered atmosphere. I had been looking for an electric bike for about a month, and had ridden many different models at different stores, ranging from $1000 up to $5000. They showed me their Aventon Pace 350 bike and I took a test ride and really liked it. Good power but not jerky, light enough to ride without the motor, and comfortable for cruising as well as sporty. Also the price was great for all the features. I bought it 2 days later after researching the company and I've been riding it almost every day for 2 weeks now. Rachel and Fernando were so helpful and even gave me a Labor Day light accessory free. Laura is their main mechanic apparently, and she adjusted everything just the way I liked it. Before you spend 3-5 grand on an Ebike for the name recognition, go test ride one at the Ebikery. Great friendly service and very good affordable bikes. read more

The Staff was very professional and friendly and refunded part of our 3 hour rental. So we can't say it was all bad but...in the one hour of renting first we has to go ba k because the battery on bike was not locked in and the power wouldn't come on. They gave us a key and said turn it on and we thought that is all you had to do. The battery wasn't installed correctly or checked. Then we had to go back the second time because the chain guard kept popping out in front of the pedal. It would'nt stay after pushing it back in so one of us fell crossing an intersection. I think they are in a popular spot on State street and have plenty of business so the customer service is lazy. We've rented before and you get to know the bike with guidance first to work out the kinks. Not a 2 minute verbal demo. These Motiv bikes are squirrely. Even working properly you don't have much control with the handle bars so high and wide. They are not in the beach where you just start an easy cruise. The Saturday traffic to get down there is brutal. I would suggest trying the bikes first before you commit to see if you like them. Checking to see if they are working before taking off. And not renting on a weekend. read more

I bought my first ebike three months ago from E-Bikery. Fernando let me demo several bikes with no sales pressure. He prepped the bike of my choice and I already have nearly 400 miles on it. I love the fact that e-bikery limits the number of people that's in the store at one time, so it's one staff with one patron. Dennis waited on me today, and I was going to test-drive the Gazelle Arroyo. I was nervous before arriving, because I have another electric bike that I can't lift off the ground; it was too much bike for me. Dennis went through everything about the bike (he was very patient), and off I went down to the pier and back. It was so much fun, I didn't feel afraid at all, it felt just like a normal bike except it has turbo charge. When I got back he suggested that I should try the next size up so that I could sit up straighter. I loved it and am now the proud owner of a beautiful, new bike! Thanks E-Bikery! Had a blast with E-Bikery! Our son will be attending Santa Barbara City College starting in August. So we went for a short holiday to this beautiful city in order to get a feel for where we would be sending our son. Renting e-bikes was one of the best experiences we've had so far! We were able to see this gorgeous city with the wind blowing in our faces and the sun shining on us. We are locals to Santa Barbara and wanted to see our hometown by bike with our two young kids. Fernando from E-Bikery delivered the bikes to our home, gave us full instruction on all the functions of the bikes and the kids seats, and provided his cell number in case we needed anything. We had the bikes for a weekend and we loved them! Super easy to use, charge, and remove and re-install the kid seats. We will recommend E-Bikery and use them again for sure. read more

I bought the aventon pace 500 and it is probably the worst purchase I've ever made as a biker. I bike 40 miles a day just commuting and I have to charge it every single (10 mile) ride. The battery dies extremely fast. Let alone the gearshift broke off the first week, they were charging me $60 to fix it, and I had a spoke break off within the first two weeks which they were also charging me which I think is unfair for a new bike purchase for that amount of money to be occurring so soon. This led to a flat tire that I had to go to my usual shop, Velo Pro to fix because they were closed due to corona virus. There was an agreement made that if the bike did not work for me it would be able to be returned however the owner did not stick to this statement and sold me a terrible bike for a high price and is unwilling to do repairs. I am extremely disappointed and was told differently when I bought this bike. Also my rack didn't break but the connection to my bike did and now I can't install any other racks. Several bolts have came loose and come off unknowingly within the first two months of purchase. My charger, after four months also had wire exposed which caused a short and sparked up and is 200$ to replace. So unsatisfied with this shop, my purchase, the aventon 500, and the owner's response to all this. If you actually ride bikes this bike is trash and will not make it very far. It was a decent bike the first 3 times I rode it and after that started to fall apart. Keep in mind most bikes bought here are used by people who do not commute as much as me but use it as a leisure activity but for someone who rides everywhere this bike was a complete waste of money and the owners have terrible liability and customer service issues. read more
