The visitation was held in a very nice size room and there were plenty of chairs and places to sit for everyone. The flowers were tastefully placed in various parts around the room. They appeared to go out of their way to do anything to assist the family. The church service as well as the grave side service was as nice as any one I've attended and seemed to go off without a hitch. There was a flag ceremony and the flag given to his wife. I noticed later, when we returned to the church hall, that Newcomer even gave her the wooden flag case. A very nice touch. I would highly recommend Newcomer to anyone.

I contacted Newcomer who we had contracted to do my fathers funeral 9 years ago. They did an amazing job for my fathers and we knew they would do the same this time for my mother. I asked for the exact same thing that we did for my father, they pulled the sheet from 9 years ago and followed it to a T. Now here is the amazing part that I did not anticipate, the difference in price from 9 years ago to the present was three hundred dollars, not thousand but hundred. I was shocked. This post is not meant to paint me in the light of some tight wad person who only cared about price, what I am trying to say is this place has a formula and it works. There is nothing cheap about how they handle their clients, the total was about six thousand eight hundred, but you would have thought we paid 20,000 thousand for the service they provided. My father looked so natural, it was amazing. Now my mother is in their hands and we are receiving the same quality service we received in the past. I will always recommend this place because of their professionalism and I can attest to the value you will receive compared to what other homes quoted me. Do not feel that you cannot afford a quality dignified funeral, this place can help.

Kentucky Heritage is a newly built area. It's a beautiful space that includes a covered area for services. It resembles Churchill Downs. A path tells the store of thoroughbred horses and Kentucky's races. It's so nicely done and when not in use, provides a shaded area for those visiting. It's the largest by area and number of burials. Before the era of large municipal parks, it was common for cities to promote a garden cemetery as a green oasis and recreation destination, and Louisville was no exception. Located in the northwest corner is Cave Hill National Cemetery, containing military graves. It was also on the National Register, added in 1998, where we discovered the grave of my partner's great-great-great-grandfather, Joshua Leonard. He was a Union soldier from New York who fought in the Civil War. Notable interred here were Colonel Harland Sanders (founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken) and Muhammad Ali (American professional boxer, activist, and Louisville's native son), to name a few. Upon arrival, we went straight to the main office located in the middle of the cemetery. Friendly staff managed to look up the information of the family member. However, the maps given were confusing and didn't correspond with those at the national cemetery. Stopped a staff member in their vehicle who recommended us to go to the main gate for assistance. With the help of the guard, we managed to locate his grave. Nice hidden gem for those visiting Louisville off the beaten path, which we can recommend.

She was a beautiful alert lady who lived to be 101. When her family told us about the arrangements for her service we were surprised to hear they were going to have a "drive-by" service. We had no idea what to expect as were drove in the parking lot and saw a short line off cars going past the front of the building with the family all standing outside. As we approached the family greeted us, all wearing masks and social distancing. They opened two large glass doors for us to get a clear view of the open casket. We exchanged words with the family and then drove off. It was clearly one of the most unusual services we've ever attended and certainly not like any previous ones we've attended.

After bad experiences and poor communication with two well-known "chain" funeral homes in town, a last-minute web search sent us to Fern Creek Funeral Home and although this was a first for me (having to help plan a visitation and memorial service) I can say that the staff went above and beyond to make the experience special. Gayle and Sarah were honest, tender and patient, plus they made themselves available and helped ease and absorb some stress from our grieving family. Additionally, the facility itself was clean, spacious and provided just what we needed as a space to honor the man we lost. It feels odd writing a review for a service that needed at such a messy time, but for that reason, I felt compelled to share that they were exceptional and came through for our family in need. I was very skeptical at first the outside does not look like a funeral home to me. It looks like a mini mart where an Aldis, Valu mart or cvs would of been. However on the inside while smaller it is pretty nice. Solid decor with two areas and two separate kitchens. Inside where the bodies are on display for visitation ks very large and spacious so that's nice. Kitchens are smaller but I think I like the bigger Visitation and smaller kitchen setup. While I did not partake in the choosing or setting up of this I will say the workers here were all very nice and consolable for my mother in law and wife in their time. They did what they could to meet there needs. The only snafu is on the placard entering the visitation they put Johnny instead of John for the name and made him a jr. everywhere else it was correct. I quickly noticed it before any one arrived and I got with a worker who promptly fixed it and apologized. Quit enough to where it was a no harm no foul situation. One of the things they did that I loved was my father in law served in the Air Force. So during his whole visitation and funerals they flew the Air Force flag up high right with the American flag on there parking lot flag pole. So that was a cool and nice gesture. Overall this is a solid place to have a funeral. Granted I didn't participate in the choosing but from what I was told they are a cheaper funeral home. Which is nice to have an affordable place that can still offer nice viewing areas. Nobody likes to review a funeral home. And I wish I could review this one under better circumstances. But there was nothing here that happened that would keep me from recommending using this place. It's a nice affordable option.

Some decisions are especially hard and overwhelming but there wasn't pressure to make quick decisions. All spaces, including the kitchen areas, are kept clean and tidy to welcome family and friends. Our family was also treated with respect during visitation and funeral services. Much appreciation.
