The visitation was held in a very nice size room and there were plenty of chairs and places to sit for everyone. The flowers were tastefully placed in various parts around the room. They appeared to go out of their way to do anything to assist the family. The church service as well as the grave side service was as nice as any one I've attended and seemed to go off without a hitch. There was a flag ceremony and the flag given to his wife. I noticed later, when we returned to the church hall, that Newcomer even gave her the wooden flag case. A very nice touch. I would highly recommend Newcomer to anyone.

Now here is the amazing part that I did not anticipate, the difference in price from 9 years ago to the present was three hundred dollars, not thousand but hundred. I was shocked. This post is not meant to paint me in the light of some tight wad person who only cared about price, what I am trying to say is this place has a formula and it works. There is nothing cheap about how they handle their clients, the total was about six thousand eight hundred, but you would have thought we paid 20,000 thousand for the service they provided. My father looked so natural, it was amazing. Now my mother is in their hands and we are receiving the same quality service we received in the past. I will always recommend this place because of their professionalism and I can attest to the value you will receive compared to what other homes quoted me. Do not feel that you cannot afford a quality dignified funeral, this place can help.

My mother-in-law received services from Spring Valley Funeral home, and I was extremely…read moredisappointed. I was appalled on the day of the funeral when I arrived at the church to discover that my loved one had on no make-up whatsoever and had unmanicured, and what appeared to be dirty, fingernails (with chipped nail polish). We had to cover her nails up with a handkerchief. The wig we provided was unnaturally placed on her head and un-styled, and her beautiful necklace was awkwardly placed on her body and sliding down. It was necessary for me to fix all these issues before family and friends arrived. It was as though they removed her from the nursing home, cleaned her body, did not cosmetically prep her, and hastily threw on the clothes and accessories we provided. My mother-in-law was a beautiful woman who ALWAYS took pride in her appearance, but what we saw when we arrived at the church made her appear to be someone who had neglected their appearance for years. I am grateful that I arrived early enough to fix this debacle. The last thing I'll say is that I checked for her obituary on their website the morning of the funeral - expecting it to be there the day before, but to my shock, it was not there, and I had to call the funeral home to ask them to please add it to their website. I had provided them with the wording of the obituary several days before (as requested). I would NEVER recommend this funeral home. I feel that they actually owe ME money for cosmetic services! While the cost was quite inexpensive, there is still an expectation to get what all funeral homes provide...for their loved ones to look presentable in the casket, and for the announcement of their death to be provided in a timely manner. We felt pressured to pay for the funeral further in advance than I expected, which we did, so perhaps that was a sign that they were lacking the resources to adequately perform the services required.

The only options for prayer cards were dated, ugly, and religious. When it comes time for payment, you can only write a check they will never deposit. The only good interactions we had were with his son Tucker. He was genuinely helpful, and I hope Tucker can turn this place around or sell it and lead a fulfilling life outside the aftercare business.
