Bring cash, expect to wait, and if you don't mind eating under a heater on the covered patio, absolutely do it, because inside is tiny and crowded-- at least on the patio, while tiny and crowded still, you have room to breathe without bumping into a neighbor. Portions are very generous, especially if you get the double meat one, and the quality is quite good. Would absolutely return again, although my need to not clog my arteries or turn into a whale means it might be a while til I've burned off all the calories from this visit. Friday Jun 20 '25. First morning in London. I left hotel in Kensington before 7 am to get here for The Full English breakfast. My wife and family thought I was nuts to travel 45 minutes across London for an English fry up. Buy hey needs must. Let me start by saying it was absolutely worth it. This was the best restaurant fry up I've ever had. And I'm Irish. It has everything and is easily customizable. I don't like the fried tomato and hate wasting food so I didn't have it. ( See photo). Cumberland sausages, the creme de la creme of sausages, great bacon, black and white pudding, Heinz beans. Wow. Apart from the food this is a family run enterprise and they are a bunch of characters. Nev heard my accent, and spent several minutes narrowing down what part of Ireland I'm from. Why? He suspected, from my accent, he knew where I was from. Because he hears my accent and intonation and expressions daily from his lovely wife who's family come from around the corner from me in Crossmaglen. I'm from Carrickmacross. ( Now living in LA in US) Nev even rattled off the rhyme "From Carrickmacross to Crossmaglen" I finished by adding the line " There are more rogues than honest men ". Every aspect of the meal was delicious, I quite enjoyed the black pudding and beans on toast despite hearing negative things about the combo generally. I had arrived right when they opened on a chilly Friday morning and was the first one there, so I truly got to experience the welcomeness and hospitality of Nevio and his family. I wanted to love this place so bad, but unfortunately my experience was far from this. When my friend and I arrived, there was a line (as expected). When our turn came, we were welcomed and seated in their tiny but cozy outdoor seating area. We got our drinks, and placed our food order. 20 mins passed and then 30 mins. We noticed the party of 10 that was seated some time after us all had their food, which I found was a little odd so we decided to ask the status of ours. The older gentleman we asked didn't pay much attention to us, quickly saying someone will check on us and shifting his attention elsewhere. 40 mins passed, and we asked somebody else who also practically ignored us, saying our server would check on us. More time passed, this time I watched as the large party seated after us paid and left. Meanwhile we still had yet to be served our meal let alone be checked on by said server. Our food finally came out after almost an hour of waiting. I ordered the full english breakfast, which was pretty generously sized and had a good taste. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was amazing though. Given the crappy service, I definitely don't think this place is worth going out of your way for. I get that it's a small mom and pop shop and wasn't expecting the food to come out quicky, but the fact that we were basically ignored mutliple times just did not sit right with me. This is what I've been waiting for in London! This little cafe came out of nowhere with unmatched hospitality and warm conversation. We had cafe Americano, tea, and cappuccino with "have the lot meat" (full English breakfast). The food was fresh, coffees and tea hot and perfect when you add sugar. All for a reasonable price. The employees that work here are so friendly and make conversation with everyone who walks in. I've never felt more welcome. I ordered the full meat breakfast and it was so hearty and delicious! You definitely won't leave feeling hungry. My sister ordered the pesto pasta, and she enjoyed it. There is an option of adding ragu to the pasta, or you can keep it vegetarian. Then, they will add parmesan and pepper at your table. It's a small restaurant, but you will feel right at home. I have to talk about this place...E. Pellicci Cafe. What a lovely, fantastic little spot! We visited London this past August, so this review is a little late. We made the 45 minute commute to Bethnal Green from Central London to check them out. When we arrived 2 minutes before they opened. Not long after we were seated a steady trickle of folks started coming in. Within 30 mins of opening, the place was full! Nevio Jr, the current owner runs the cafe with the rest of the family and staff. They are all very personable and seems to be rather popular in their community. We wanted to try their English breakfast, so husband ordered the classic set. Meanwhile, I heard good things about their pesto pasta dish (after all, they are Italian!). I was pleasantly surprised that they serve pasta all day. Did I order a bowl of Penne Pellicci at 8 am? I sure did! They topped it off with Bolognese because "you should try it!". They applauded when I finished it off and called me the "young lady who ordered pasta for breakfast"; "She must be Italian!" Hey, it's dinner time somewhere in the world . (And thank you so much for calling me young ) The best pasta breakfast, if I could lick the plate I would. And that English Breakfast? Is as excellent as they say! It will be hard to top that. OMG! This place is the best! After a 7 hour flight from Toronto to London, we checked our luggage at the hotel at 0700 and took the tube to East London to find this place. We had seen it on an installment of The Dish on the CBS Weekend News a few months prior and knew we had to check it out. It exceeded our expectations! When we arrived, the line to get in was 15 people deep. The wait was eased by the owner, Nevio, greeting patrons in the line. He is a very personable chap. When we got seated, he approached us and struck up a conversation. We told him it was our 33rd wedding anniversary that morning. After that, he brought multiple patrons to our table and let them know it was our 33rd anniversary. His mother even came over to offer her blessing. The food was great! Initially, my wife planned on pancakes and Nevio reserved three of them for her. She then decided on the full English breakfast. When Nevio saw that, he gave her the "thumbs up". I also got the full English. The food was incredible! We are headed back to London next September and will definitely return to E. Pellicci's. Nevio's cousin, Tony, gave my wife a chunk of his mother's famous bread pudding before we left. It was delicious. We felt like family at E. Pellicci's. Thank you to the Pellicci family. My husband is big on breakfast so I was a bit hesitant since I'm not a fan. However, when in London you have to try a full English breakfast so we had to do it right. We made sure to come early to have a shorter queue, and boy were we glad we did. The line got long quick!! Once we sat down inside, the chaos and buzz was thrilling! Seeing the cook talk through the window to patrons and everyone is joking loudly with each other it was so much fun. The breakfast was so good! When Ana came around with the pesto, it got even better. Do ask for a sample and buy a jar for home because it was to die for... We had such a great time here due to the staff and owners. There was a bit of a line out the door and a wait for us to be seated, but fortunately we didn't wait too long for our party of 2. One of the servers was so funny and just a joy to be around. It has been so long that I have enjoyed an eating establishment as I did with E Pellicci. The food is solid - we ordered both the "a lot of meat" English breakfast and a plate of delicious pasta with pesto. But what really stood out is how fun loving and sweet the waiting staff was. We ended up sitting with two strangers and we got talking, and the staff enabled that, came by our tables constantly to joke around with all of us. One of the must do items for our trip in London was to eat a traditional full English breakfast. At first we were leaning toward some restaurants near our hotel like The Wolseley or The Breakfast Club, but we decided to mix it up and go a little farther out to the "greasy spoon" joints that the real locals go to. E Pellicci was actually a really easy trip from the Liverpool station to Bethnal Green. The area was definitely a bit different from the touristy areas in London but it felt pretty safe while walking during brunch hours. At first I was thrown off by the menu because it had a huge Italian flag on it and I wasn't sure if it was more of an Italian restaurant rather than a spot that specializes in English breakfast, but the pictures and reviews convinced us to give E Pellicci a shot. Ambiance / Service: When traveling, I'm usually the type that likes to plan ahead and go to places that offer reservations. While it's more convenient, they are typically pricier and have a more generic ambiance that caters to tourists. You'll miss out on these hidden gem restaurants that are full of charm and character. I'm so glad that we decided to come to E Pellicci because this place was definitely a memorable experience. When you walk in there's probably only 7 or 8 tables inside. It was a little intimidating because it seemed like it was packed with regulars and we were just tourists that had no clue what the process is and what to order. However, the owners and the servers were so warm and welcoming, and immediately made us feel at home. It was awesome just people watching and observing the banter between everyone. The owner knew the names of literally everyone who walked in the door and they all had history and inside jokes together. Eating here really did feel like a family dinner. It was fun and the room was loud and full of energy. You should fully expect to mingle with the locals and share your table with any new incoming people that are looking to be squeezed in at any available seat. The owner was chatting it up with us about the Chicago Bears, and all the servers had a great sense of humor just joking around with everyone. I'm not used to this type of communal atmosphere, and it just made the breakfast even more enjoyable. Food: They don't mess around when it comes to the food. You realize the markup of the touristy areas in London when you see the amount of food you get here and the super reasonable prices. I got the Have The Lot Meat Full English Breakfast, and there was just a massive amount of hearty food on the plate. Being an English brekkie rookie, I'll break down my initial thoughts: Cumberland Sausage - A fat link of pork sausage that a nice snap on the outside. Full of flavor and super juicy. Egg - Standard over easy egg. The runny yolk is the perfect binding agent to fuse all the elements together in each bite. Bacon - More like slices of Canadian bacon / ham rather than the typical strips of crispy bacon. Sear on the outside to give it a slight crisp. Hash Brown - Two huge triangles of some of the best hash browns I've ever had. Super crispy on the outside and a thick center of fluffy shredded potatoes. Black pudding - I was a little nervous about this one because I'm not the biggest fan of blood sausage. However, it fit right in when you mix it with all the other elements. The flavor was actually more subtle than I was expecting and the texture was softer and more paste-like than the Cumberland sausage. Mushrooms - A mound of sautéed mushrooms to give some umami punch. These either had a dusting of flour on the outside or were cooked to the point of caramelization because there was a nice crust that formed on the outside of the mushrooms that gave it an awesome texture. Beans - The beans threw me off at first because it's not a typical breakfast ingredient, but they were slightly sweet and served as a good filler piece in each bite so you're not just eating all meat. Tomatoes - Juicy tomatoes with a slightly charred edge. They were the pop of freshness among the greasiness and the perfect distraction to cut through all the salty/fatty meat. Toast - Talk about buttering your toast. This piece of toast seemed to have been dipped in butter and then pan fried haha. It's the perfect vehicle to hold it all together in each bite. Overall, E Pellicci was hands down one of the best and most memorable meals of our trip. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun, and the people are just so generous and sincere. Great spot, and one of the best places to eat the full English breakfast and Italian food in London for the last 100 years! This little cafe is situated in one of the most multicultural and gentrified London neighbourhoods. You just have to stop at Bethnal Green underground station and just walk for a mile or so in the main road. The cafe is very, very little and can be quite packed with costumers at lunch hour. I have to say that the staff (they were all part of the same family) was very friendly and engaging. They were able to speak different languages and really entertain the costumers! Even my brother accidentally encountered the grandmother of the owner - who also happens to be the chef of the restaurant - and they even had a little chat together. I will never forget the service! The food was excellent. We all ordered the full breakfast which tasted like no full breakfast I've tasted before. Everything looked fresh and cooked to perfection. The apple crumble and the black coffee were also delicious. At the end of our meal, the waitress gave us a slice of home made cake her grandmother made specially for new costumers.
