Ed is up for anything! There are no problems only challenges! And our old house was a challenge! When we smelled a burning electrical odor in our club basement we could not find a thing wrong so we called Ed. Johnny on the spot! Showed up quickly, did some investigative work and showed us what needed doing and explained why he was doing things every step of the way. You don't just get an electrician, you get an education. Ed was happy to answer every question and concern. He checked every possibility. Our 1960s rancher had some basement outlets that were not correctly installed. Overloaded circuits. Overhead lighting with burnt wires due to too strong light bulbs (mea culpa!). I could go on... His experience and pride in his work showed. Our main concern was safety. Ed showed us how our downstairs freezer was on the same circuit as the upstairs dishwasher and other outlets (not a good thing) and separated them out so the freezer now has its own dedicated line as it should have in the first place. No more surprise defrost. Amen He was so outstanding in doing the repair work, we finally decided to put in the pool table light we'd been needing for years! Ed had to remove one fixture in one area and install a new light in a different spot. By the time he was done patching and repairing the ceiling, you'd never know it hadn't been the original installation. Neat, clean, mannerly - a most professional tradesman! If only everyone had his work ethic and pride! We've had other electricians work in our house in the past ten years, no one I'd recommend or use again. This was the first time we used Ed / EZ Electric but definitely not the last. He left things better than he found them (unlike some who shall remain nameless but we would never use a franchise electrician again ). I've already passed Ed's name on to a number of friends and would highly recommend him. His prices were in line with other local electricians. Ed did a fantastic job installing 8 new outlets. He identified bad work that had been done by a previous electrician and fixed the issue. Every outlet had it's own problems that he fixed. Not only that, but he gave me many recommendations on how to fix other problems in my home that I can do myself, which is going to save me several thousands of dollars in the long run. I paid about $850 (this includes a small tip that I would have given more to him had I had enough money in my wallet). I also bought the outlets myself, totaling the entire thing to about a thousand dollars. This may seem like a lot for installing new outlets, but it was absolutely worth the cost as he saved me money AND ensured my house is much safer. I didn't know that several wires, including the one right next to my bed, was severely burned and could've caught fire. Disaster averted. He explains everything that he's doing. Any review that is under five stars is because they didn't understand the amount of work he needs to do. Yes, he gives an estimate when you first call him, but he also says it may be more if there are unexpected issues. (Like having to remove difficult nails from outlets a previous electrician drilled in) I would much rather pay $50 more than the high estimate he initially gave than $200,000+ to restore a burned down home. read more

a couple of days ago, as I pulled a plug out of a basement wall socket,k a nice sized fire spark came with it. Immediately, I knew there was a serious problem that needed our attention. My wife found Ed. He came, assessed the situation, communicated to me what he saw even as I was in agreement his diagnosis, did his job and I paid him for a job well done. If you need an electrician, who takes pride in his work, who is a master electrician with 40 years of trouble shooting experience, who also does his own work and and fits into your budget, according to the type of electrical issue you have, call Ed. This is my first time writing a review on yelp, but I would be remiss not to write this review of Ed Zubovnik's work in my home. I had Ed replace an old "moon" lighting fixture over my kitchen island with 3 new pendant lights and install 7 recessed lights throughout my kitchen. All I can say is my kitchen looks beautiful. The new lighting gives my kitchen a totally different look and feeling. Ed was very professional and offered suggestions on the type of recessed lights that would give the best impact. He also confirmed with me the placement of the pendant and recessed lights. He wanted to be sure that the lighting placement met my needs for cooking and tasks. He was neat and he patched the holes he had to make in ceiling with a compound that I will later cover with spackle and paint. Ed came and was very thorough in troubleshooting a problem with an entire circuit out in my house. I have a combination of aluminum and copper wiring in my home and a bad connection led to a serious problem in my attic. He methodically went through all the possible causes of the issue and traced the source of the problem and eliminated what was a potental fire hazard. He also identified other areas for improvements and made safety recommendations for things he noticed while doing the repairs that I'd called him for. Ed is really nice guy. He was a pleasure, and I like the job he did adding in the ceiling fan into my house today. Now that I'm writing the review, I should mention that we appreciate how on another occasion, he had not been asked to fix the light post by my front walk-way, but he checked on it and discovered that it had previously been installed incorrectly so it posed the risk of electrocuting people who touched the frame. Called to request service as my range sparkler and a receptacle near it suddenly stopped working. I had checked the breakers and they were fine. On the phone, in about 30 seconds, they had the problem diagnosed and fixed (find a reset button on a receptacle near the range and try hitting reset). Brilliant and fast and no cost. Thank you.
