I have such mixed feelings about this DMV. First parking is difficult. It's in a strip mall and to ensure the other business having parking for their customers most of the upfront spots are reserved for each companies customers. The lot is always full! Had to circle a few times before getting a spot. Second this location looks a bit different than any of the others I've been to. Looks like a pop up. You walk in and take a number but it is crowded so it's hard to even see that that's what you need to do and it's weird to approach because you have to squeeze between people being helped at the counter to grab a #. Third - No privacy at this location. When you approach the counter you are elbow to elbow with the other people at the counter (especially when people have 2-3 people approaching with them) also the seats for people waiting/standing is tight- less than 10 steps between the seating & counter. Also I was a bit concerned they don't really have those tables with the pens connected like other locations, they have one table with forms and you just fill it out however you can. It's packed so there's definitely people sitting around that one table. You can fill out the forms online ahead of time, which felt a bit more secure. The man sitting next to me had his form on his lap which displayed all his personal info including his ssn. Forth - when I first walked in they just called #14. I pulled #46. I thought I was going to be there all day with how crowded it was. I even thought about leaving to grab food and coming back later. I went outside for a bit then came back in stood until a chair opened. For the most part they were calling the numbers fairly fast. They would call a number 3x before moving on if no one responded. Some people needed Spanish speaking reps and most of the reps did not speak Spanish so they would wait and kind of go up one after another even if their number wasn't called yet. Again small location I could hear some of the employees complaining to each other what kind of services they "weren't" dealing with that day, which added an extra level of unprofessionalism to this location. I know they didn't care that we could hear but still. I waited about 35ish minutes for them to get from #14-46 which isn't as bad as I thought it would be. They were able to scan my ID and pull up my forms, I had to take a pic. There were people walking in front of me while the rep was trying to take my pic and a man even stopped to stand partially in front of me- no type of awareness to what was going on. I'll say I'm somewhat impressed with how fast (considering) things moved along but everything else here was a no for me. read more

SO efficient! I used to hate coming here (and still hate going to other DMV locations), but they've really improved in the last few years. I came in on a Friday morning, and immediately took a ticket with a number, and was 16th in line. My number was called in less than 5 minutes. The nice gentleman that helped me was both efficient and friendly. He was able to help me update tabs for 2 vehicles (one that also needed new license plates) and updated registration for my boat. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes! Congratulations - I'm totally coming here next time I need DMV services! read more

Best DMV ever hands down. Efficient, kind, effective. I would give it 10 billion stars if I could.

Arrived at 4pm to be out at 4:10pm the huge lot of staff were very efficient with the number of people coming in the door, I only waited 2-3 minutes for service and most of the time was me asking questions regarding the cost breakdown. I would recommend this to anyone looking for fast services but it is a small parking lot and fills up fast. read more

I have traveled and worked in many states in this country (8 to be exact) meaning I had to deal with 8 different state DMV's and I have NEVER had such flawless, easy, friendly , stress free experience as I did here. As a new resident with a current, valid license, I knew I didn't have to take the knowledge tests to transfer to Minnesota but still and I am sure many will know and agree, with the DMV you never know what to expect and usually are expecting the worst and dreading your visit. This office (for me) was Shangri-La, I needed an out of state license transfer and register my car and I was in and out of there in 20 minutes, no appointment, plates in my hand, all done........ FYI, it was about 12:30 in the afternoon, mid-week on fairly nice day out, sorry but that is unheard of to me, so anyone who just moved here from out of state, my advice is research and get your paperwork / documents all together and go here, even if you live 45-60 min away, it is worth the drive, small shop, tucked away, easy parking and friendly staff. read more

Went there to get an ID two trips in one day. First time I supposedly didn't have proper documentation and they didn't accept international license for simple ID card. Went home to get more documentation. Got a different person, and out of all the pieces of documentation I had none were supposedly valid even after receiving primary and secondary documentation. They supposedly needed extra translation on something that was already translated for them through another governing body. Went to Apple Valley DMV and they accepted just two of the documents without hassle or non sense. Even the international license in order to get an ID. Staff at Eagan DMV need additional training or more experienced staff because this could've been avoided instead of me wasting time running around getting more documents when another place accepted them just fine. On top of girl being rude and giving me sass, the first staff I had was polite and a little more understanding at least. read more

I have never received anything but excellent service at this location. They are very nice and when I call, there is usually a short wait and they are always knowledgeable and able to answer my questions. read more

Total joke this place is allowed to be in business serving taxpayers who must use their service for license renewals and tabs. They make McDonald's look like white tablecloth service. The State of Minnesota should evaluate these "businesses" who represent them to the public. I will drive 30 minutes out of my way in the future to avoid this place. read more

I'm not sure if there's ever a good time to show up. I've stopped there between 10am and 2pm with super long lines.

First off I went down there to get my license and they sent my license to out of town address then when I called trying to see what was going on there office just kept hanging up the phone every time and not even saying hello or anything very unprofessional read more

This is a hidden treasure. I work at a DMV that doesn't do drivers license renewals so I had to venture elsewhere. Usually I suggest to our customers some of the bigger DMVs to renew when they ask, but I'll start recommending this one now. On a Monday morning at the end of the month, I was pleasantly surprised that I was in and out in 25 minutes processing a name change and Real ID upgrade. Staff was friendly and competent. It is a small office so it's standing room only (no place to sit and eat my muffin hah!) and you don't even take a ticket to be served, but the short wait time is worth being a little cramped for space. This place says it opens at 8am. Still standing in line outside at 8:25am and they have not let a single person inside. All employees showed up later than 8:10 to open the store. Ridiculous. Edit: once I did get in at aprox 8:45 it was very quick service so I'll give them that. read more

On top of the long wait, the office is cramped, disorganized and the folks give very poor customer service. This staff put up inaccurate, home-made signage for the forms and none of the staff caught the mistake. This caused needless confusion and extra long wait times. When the bad signage was pointed out to the staff behind the counter, she was initially defensive, then blaming, and then indifferent. Save yourself the hassle! read more
