To be clear, my daughter was 14 when she attended these classes--she was not a little kid wowed with camp activities. And she came with only a back handspring. She's competitive and likes the way the coaches push for results. Despite being "old" to start the sport, she was able to advance her skills through levels 2, 3, and 4. She cheered for two years and both years her teams won bids to The Summit in Orlando. This year she's cheering level 5. Competitive cheer is not a walk in the park. It is an intense sport that requires dedication and discipline. The coaches there are all about that. If you're looking for someone to deliver roses and sunshine to someone who isn't pushing him or herself to advance, this isn't for you. If you want someone to help your child advance his or her skills and your child is motivated to do so, then you should check it out.

They do produce champions however the methods I witnessed were horrible. Screaming at a crying 5 year old that she's "no good! She doesn't belong there!" Is NOT the way to build confidence. Taunting an ridiculing a crying teenager is NOT how to foster trust or self esteem. The overuse injuries are out of control! These are 100% preventable injuries! The whole culture of abuse and exclusion ("she's not one of us") is counter productive. It is definitely possible to build champions without being cruel.

It was the most unsafe situation I have seen in a place. Small gym with about 60 kids just running around! My son was put in a wrestling hold and no one helped him!!! The lady at the door who was supposed to help the one teenager watch all these kids just watched my son cry and never helped him! There was no games or organization or group activities! Just absolute chaos!!! Absolutely awful! I would NEVER trust them watching a child at open gym! And don't let them lie to you- there is no supervision!!! And no activities- group or organized!!! The website lies! Absolutely awful! Also, absolutely no social distancing going on- kids on top of each other, wrestling each other, jumping on each other, etc.

I was a gymnast in my younger years and this was the gym I attended. So when signing my son up for…read moremany different things I thought this would be a good place to start him off to help with balance,teamwork and being comfortable with movement of his body and such. Staff seemed pretty friendly overall. I can't say the "regulars" who brought there kids there were all that friendly. The first day we walked in my son yelled "HI EVERYBODY" and was met with non reactive parents and children. Every class thereafter he became more and more scared to go. I don't know why. He wouldn't tell me. He just said the kids were not nice. After a few tries of covincining and frustration through out 2 weeks, I told him he didn't have to return. Every other class he has he loves. No problems whatsoever but with this one he really was upset. I could hear it in his cry. It was a different kind of cry (moms will know what I mean). I called and left a message to tell them he will not be returning for the reasons he only told me and said somneone could call me if they had any questions. I never received a phone call back. I'm a little torn on that... well if your kid leaves then why would they call back? Then I kind of think, well if it were me I'd want to talk to the mom and have her bring the kid in to see if we could figure out the problem and help encourage him to come back since I did pay $109 for the class and $30 for a ceremony he wont be attending. I guess maybe they see it as "well if they don't want to be here then we'll focus on the ones that do"? Sometimes kids just need a little extra push from someone other than their parents so they are comfortable with their environment. Guess we'll try to find another one.

You have to have a membership to participate in the programs or the open gym and track areas. Membership fees for Henrietta residents $10 a year for adults 18-59, $5 a year for ages 5-17. Membership is free for Seniors, veterans and children 0-4. Non residents are $30 a year for adults and $15 a year for youth, seniors and veterans. Free for kids 0-4. Once you are a member you get a key tag for easy scanning. With so many different programs to do here such as gymnastics, pickle ball, soccer, volleyball, basketball and music classes... your best bet is to check out their website for a listing of activities. Some programs require additional fees. My niece has a blast with the preschool open gym. Only $40 for so much fun and activities. There are a lot of free activities here too, playing basketball on one of the courts is always popular. My favorite activity here is using the upstairs running/walking track. The track overlooks the basketball courts and gymnastics area. Nine times around the track equals a mile. You can also book one of the rec center rooms for your own events, see website for pricing. A nice alternative to other options in the area.

They are great with kids and have a way of helping them focus and have fun at the same time. My son has built muscle strength and agility that have helped him at other sports and really built his confidence through gymnastics. Westside is also a great place for birthday parties. (We've has two different parties here.) They can handle very large groups of kids of all abilities and everyone has fun at their parties: that are loaded with obstacle courses, trampolines and a huge foam pit.
