While maintaining a focus on physical activity and skill in taekwondo, the focus on values including respect, responsibility, and perseverance go far beyond just what is written on their walls. The staff work with the parents and families as a team to reinforce positive behavior and good character not just within their facility, but also at school and at home. There is a constant narrative of commitment to self improvement and to invest into helping to better our surrounding community as well. One of our children has had some trying behavior and over the past two years the staff has poured their effort into support and structure to help us guide him the right way. This is the type of community and environment all families want their children raised in. We genuinely send thanks to Grandmaster Kim and his team for all they do.

It is VERY good for younger kids. I have a lot in my class but that's ok, everyone has to start somewhere! While I will switch to another gym in the future, Northern Hemisphere is awesome for people, especially older kids improve on basic skills. However, I have seen coach Paul yell at several kid. There was a girl who was a red head, and lost her balance on a mat after landing, and was struggling to get up, when he yelled at her " Hey, red headed kid! Get off the mat!." I could not believe this. My experience has been good, but I would not recommend.

I have been going for six months and I feel 5X stronger and the hip & knee pain that I've had for 25 years (and for which I've done my share of PT) has almost completely resolved. The monthly cost for group classes is right, given that if they were located in a big city they could probably charge that much for a single personal training session with kettlebells. The classes themselves are personalized as much as possible--I've been in classes with 20+ year-old guys trying to get jacked and 60+ year-old women working to regain their mobility--Kerry deftly manages to make sure we all get what we need. Morning classes tend to be older students; evening classes tend to be younger but I've not felt out of place in either (well, I once tried one of their kick boxing classes but that is NOT my thing! My fellow students seemed to enjoy it though). Kerry & Greg are certified through Strong First which is apparently a big deal. I commute about 15 minutes 2-3 times a week to get there (not something I've been wont to do in my life). I'm especially glad to be able to support a high-quality, local, and family-owned business rather than a big fitness chain.
