Surprisingly more expensive than I'd anticipated, but I guess when you're featured on the Travel Channel as advertised on a great big noticeable sign outside, you can charge whatever you want. I had a simple grilled cheese, tomato, and bacon sandwich. That I enjoyed to no end. The fries, however, were mushy and undercooked. They also tasted like nothing. I don't like eating textured ketchup. No thanks. Portion size on some of the sandwiches were great though - friends got the Eagles Delight and the Green Line. Both were monster sandwiches, but you'll definitely be paying for it. read more

This is a great little place in Cleveland Circle very conveniently located near T-stops for the C and D lines. I went with my roommates and had to wait a bit longer than they did for my food, but it was great and worth the wait! Fair price for a kiddie burger. My roommates ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap and a Chicken sandwich and loved their food as well. The milkshakes are delicious and made very quickly. Overall I love this place, the extended wait for a not very busy time is the reason that I give it 4 instead of 5 stars, but I have been here before when I did mot have to wait as long. read more

I can say with 2 years of experience that of the Burger Joints in Boston, Eagle's Deli is the best. Although the fries aren't as good as In-n-Out's (L.A. Pride), and the burger's are now on the pricey side (probably due to its several mentions on the Food Network) I assure you that the price you pay is the size and quality of the burger you will get . Eagle's uses 1/2lb patties for their burgers, and knows how to cook them well. Topped with a toasted bun and melting cheese, this is the perfect meal if you are really hungry and wanting something truly satisfying. This place is also known for there burger challenges. The ultimate challenge is of course the Eagle's Challenge: 5lb's of meat, 1lb of fries, slices upon slices of bacon and cheese. Its a heart attack on a plate, but entertainment for all. Try it. I won't, but you should. It's not a gourmet restaurant, but for a college student like myself who eats dining hall food day in and day out, and can't afford 16 dollar meals, I consider this a good restaurant. read more

Eagle's deli is burger joint frequented by BC kids, and surprisingly a lot of MBTA employees. My friend has been obsessed with this place since seeing the Eagle's Challenge on Man v. Food with Adam Richman. Add a Groupon to the mix and there was no way we were not eating here. So 1 determined friend + Groupon = 8 people trying to consume the Eagle's Challenge. 5lbs of burger, 20pcs of bacon, 20pcs of american cheese, 5lbs of fries, 1 deli pickle. Not as impressive as 1 person I know, but that's what we did. I was kind of disappointed with the quality of the burger, it was seasoned ok, but not as juicy was I was expecting. In fact, the meat was a little dry from being overcooked (but I'll cut the place some slack because it could have been from the residual heat of 10 burger patties). The fries were good though, as was the pickle. I actually kind of wish there was more pickle and less burger. With the amount of burger places sprouting up everywhere, I probably wouldn't be back to Eagle's because while the burger isn't terrible, it's just not that great. If you're curious, in the battle between Man v. Food, we lost. In the end, my friend who wanted to try the challenge couldn't pull her weight in eating, and we left with nothing but the feeling of failure in our hearts and the stench of grease on our clothes. read more

Came here for brunch with a friend on a Sunday. There was a bit of a line and the place was pretty full. You order at the counter and then somebody brings out your food. My friend ordered: french toast and bacon I ordered: pancakes and bacon I prefer french toast to pancakes, but usually portions are bigger for pancakes....and I was in the mood to eat a LOT of carbs. My friend was pleasantly surprised (I was crying inside) when the food came and there were 3 pieces of french toast (served as 6 1/2 slices). Next time I will know, and won't stray from my beloved french toast. The pancakes and bacon were also large portions. We seriously each had 5-7 slices of bacon. One day my cardiologist will trace my clogged arteries back to one delicious morning spent at Eagle's. Pancakes were a little dry. French toast was really good -- nothing fancy about the recipe, just your standard deliciousness. If the way to your heart is great prices and large portions....then come to Eagle's for brunch. Oh Eagles Deli, how i love you but i hate you. There is something about meat on a burger by the pound that drives guys to to eat way more than they should for the sake of competition. I went here on 4th of july and ate the 2 pounder. It was so good but quite a bit of food. (as i sit here writing this i feel like a pansy for not getting the 3 pounder which proves my point from above). The best part about these burgers is that they're actually good. Had a nice little surprising experience over the weekend ordering from Eagle's Deli. Purchased some Pancakes which were a lot bigger than I anticipated them to be, they were very good and came with maple syrup and butter (some places dont do that). Also you get a choice of fruit on top, went for the strawberries, they put the strawberries ontop every stack of pancakes. Got the Billy omelette I think it was with the shaved steam and homefries, it was also delicious. My girlfriend got the Roast beef sandwich which she also enjoyed, she was surprised they cooked the roast beef instead of it just being a coldcut. Good food and fair prices. The burgers here are always big and juicy and fairly priced. For 12 you get fired a burger and drink, a little more than fast food but way more substantial and fresh. The French fries are always super crispy and hot. Overall great burger and fries. The breakfast here is also as good as you would expect. Sort of diner/deli style plates w good crispy home fries. I like the two egg sandwich plate. The fried chicken wings are small but crispy and hit the spot if you want them. A great reliable option for the neighborhood. read more

I went in there little after lunch hour on Saturday. The place was not that crowded and only few tables were occupied. We ordered two burgers with fries, and chicken sandwich from lunch special. It took a while (10+ minutes) for the food to came out. Also, both burgers were really well done. I asked for the medium, but I could not see any pink color inside once I bit into it. Fries were actually decent, but not that hot, but lukewarm. Only saving grace was chicken sandwich which was quite tasty. Other than the chicken sandwich, I was not terribly impressed. This is another place I went after seeing coverage in Food Network. Next time, maybe I should try something other than burgers, but this place was known for burgers. Girlfriend and I went here after we heard good things about the place and saw that it was on the Food Network. All in all, we were not terribly impressed. I ordered the Border burger - medium, which ended up being overcooked. The avocado on the burger didn't taste fresh and was more like a spread than avocado slices. My girlfriend ordered the reuben without cheese (dairy allergy), which she enjoyed, but said she had been to other places that make better ones. We also shared an order of the buffalo tenders, which were solid. The fries were pretty good too. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, because the menu is massive. Last night was my first time eating here. I ordered the cowboy burger and it was delicious. If you love BBQ sauce then I'd recommend this burger. The French fries were really good too. The burger is huge. I got full from eating half of it and I saved the other half for another meal. I didn't even have to re-heat the burger and it still tasted good. I also ordered the jalapeño poppers. I really liked that as well. There's cheese inside it. The cheese gave the poppers more flavor. Boy has this place changed.... the owner was the bright spot he was all over the place helping guest. I ordered the Nick Lachey and the meat was over cooked and the fries not very good. The bacon was greasy and soft not the bacon you want on burgers I enjoy crispy not overly greasy bacon on my burgers. The kids meal came with fries and by fries I mean there were maybe 10 fries on the plate. This has now turned into an overpriced tourist trap, completely changed since the last time I was there in 2011. Not sure I will go back. read more

A small deli spot that I love to visit for breakfast. I just like that this place has a straightforward, simple menu. If you're in the Brighton area, you should definitely check out Pinos/ Eagles. It's one of the best family owned restaurants. Tonight, I went in with my best friend who had just got engaged to get pizza and mozzarella sticks. They had no mozzarella sticks but they worked with Eagles Deli (which btw is also fantastic) to get us mozzarella sticks. They made our weekend when they definitely didn't have to. They are the best! I eat here constantly and for good reason. It's famous for its giant burger challenges but I almost never see anyone try them (though i am almost always here for breakfast or lunch), but the regular food is very good dinerish fare. Get fries - Cajun are my favorite but even the regular fries here are a cut above anything you'll see without going all the way downtown. The crowd tends to be a mix of local employees and college kids but it never gets too rowdy (no booze here). It does pack up on weekends mid to late morning for bc kids looking for breakfast, but fortunately they share ownership with the folks next door at Pinos so even if it looks full you'll still get a table next door - I've never been asked to wait no matter the line size. Why not give five stars? Unless you forgo sides or a drink it's actually not all that inexpensive for what it is, other than the breakfast sandwich which is a steal. But if I could give 4.5 stars I would. read more

One of my favorite TV shows of all time is "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" on the Food Network. Every week I tune in to watch Guy Fieri drive all over the country in search of the biggest, greasiest, most delicious diner/drive-in/dive food in America. Deep fried cheeseballs in Wisconsin? Head-sized breakfast burritos in Arizona? 3 ft-high sandwiches with all the fixin's in Baltimore? I am so there! Really, there's no greater joy in my life than watching Guy Fieri wipe grease off his goatee after inhaling revolting amounts of disgustingly delicious food. So it should come as no surprise that one of my new secret goals is to try as many heart-stopping novelty foods as possible on my own personal version of D-D-D. First stop on Tina's Triple D? Eagles Deli, home of the famous Eagle's Challenge Burger -- 5lbs beef, 20 slices of cheese, 20 pieces of bacon, 5lbs fries, half a sour pickle, and fountain drink, all served to ONE person! Many people have tried to take on this beefy monster, and the numerous pictures dotting the "wall-of shame" near the exit are a testament to how many have failed. While I love a challenge as much as the next gal, I was pretty sure I couldn't eat that much food by myself, so I opted for the Reilly Burger instead...and brought along the BF + Alex H. (See my new pictures.) Weighing in at 3lbs of beef, 12 slices of cheese, and 5lbs of fries, the Reilly Burger is no joke. I expected a giant patty sandwiched between two giant buns, but the burger that came to the table was actually stacked 6 or 7 patties high, oozing with cheddar and onions, and held together by 3 wooden skewers. And the 5 lbs of fries? Gigantic mountain of crispy 'taters piled high on a cafeteria tray. Entire table-fuls of other patrons stared in disbelief at the little Asian girl (that would be moi, of course) chomping happily away behind a chest-high pile of food. They looked only marginally more relieved when I was joined by two skinny boys. The burger was surprisingly tasty -- a little under-seasoned, and just a touch dry, but very enjoyable on the whole, especially with the melty cheddar and savory onions. Obviously, it was hard to eat; we thought about trying to pick it up, but decided that knife and fork was the best option. As a result, each mouthful was more meat than the usual bread/meat/cheese/lettuce/etc combo. The fries were absolutely scrumptious -- crispy, flavorful, delightfully greasy. I ate as much of everything as I could, and the BF + Alex H. did their part too, but in the end, we had to take home 2 boxes of leftovers, which contained something like 1.5lbs burger, and 4 lbs of fries. Phew. I probably would have enjoyed my food more had it come in a more manageable size, but that's just not the point of Tina's Triple D. read more

So heres how it normally goes. I whip into this place expecting a high five from management because let's face it, I'm basically a celebrity at this point. Unfortunately, nobody is there to match my extended hand, so I pretend my nose had an itch and slide my hand into my pocket - snag up my cellie. Check my Instagram- no new likes. Swallow sadness. I'm not even sure where to start... This used to be a diamond in the rough standing alongside Pino's Pizza, keeping Cleveland Circle afloat. Unfortunately, it has recently joined the ranks of the awful dining establishments that make this Boston neighborhood not worth my time. For all those who have read or saw rave reviews about Eagle's, whether from Phantom Gourmet, Man vs. Food, The Phoenix, or any other reputable critic, PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE SAME RESTAURANT YOU READ ABOUT. To put this in perspective, I was quite excited to eat in the newly renovated Eagle's Deli. The old place needed a face-lift badly. The first thing I noticed was that the menu had changed a bit. A lot of the menu items were the same, but it seemed that a few were missing, and ordering my staple was no longer quite as easy. They changed the price of the King Kong burger from around $10 to $5. Did it still come with fries? The same 1/2 lb of fries? And should I be expecting a different burger? Why the price change? I'll learn why the hard way. One thing that was a nice touch was the employee who serves your food. It was nice not having to listen for a number anymore. That's where the pleasantries stop, though. While we were waiting for the food, I had a chance to take in the surroundings and notice just how sterile and unwelcoming the new decor was. It retained none of the cool artwork, pictures, or trinkets that gave it that 'dive' feel; that let you know that this was a place with character. As another reviewer aptly stated, it now resembles the minimalist Chipotle just down the street (except Chipotle has those weird sculptures on the wall, and far superior lighting). Even the Godzilla statue was gone! When the food finally arrived, I immediately noticed that it was not what I was expecting. The new ownership changed everything about the food. EVERYTHING. Asking for lettuce, tomato, and onion, you used to be able to expect fresh vegetables. Now all I got was a sprinkling of shredded lettuce, a thin slice of tomato, and too many sharp onions (And just for the record, places like this don't shred their lettuce. It comes in a bag). The patty reminded me of a frozen, preformed patty. Now whether or not they are actually frozen, I don't know. But I am certain that they are not using the same quality, hand-packed ground beef I used to love from Eagle's. I would not trust ordering a burger cooked less than medium here anymore. Needless to say I did not finish my sandwich. The fries no longer come in 1/2 lb orders unless you attempt one of the challenges. That's OK, though; I never really wanted to consume that much potato in one sitting anyway. Now I don't ever want to eat the fries again. I don't even know what to say about them. They were similar to McDonald's fries- hollow, and crispy, but clearly not cut from whole potatoes. Whatever, ketchup should be able to fix that though. At least the meal isn't a total waste. Right? Here was the biggest surprise: They don't buy Heinz ketchup. I don't know what it actually was because it was cleverly hidden in cute table-side tubes that looked like garage-sale relics from the fifties, but it was too sweet, or too... something. It just did not taste like ketchup. What I am sure of is they are trying to save money across the board. But scrimping on ketchup? C'mon. read more
