I'm not a big sandwich person but the burgers are always well cooked and very tasteful (although they're so big they sometimes overwhelm the bun). Only complaint would be online ordering. To order a cheeseburger you need to order a specialty burger and just remove all of the toppings. The "King Kong" burger (their generic 1/2 lb burger) or the "Kiddie Burger" (1/4 lb) aren't available from online orders. Neither are hot dogs. Have to call or go in person for those. read more

Went here for the first time and I got a chicken sandwich with pesto and Cajun fries which was fantastic and my girl got a BLT with cheese fries and Oreo milkshake and she loved it. The BC has lots of layers of thinly sliced roast beef, covered in lettuce, tomato, cheese, and Russian dressing. The bun helped soak up all the grease and juice - which was seeping from the sandwich. After seeing this place on tv I knew I had to check it out when I was in Boston. It reminds me of a local college burger place but the quality was better than expected. I have frequented the Eagle Deli on several occasions and have never been disappointed. I usually order the Godzilla which is a double cheese burger customized with lettuce tomatoes and pickles. They always ask what I would like on it which is a nice touch. It also comes with a heaping pile of french fries. Plenty to fill me up. In my never ending zealous search for Kitschy Brunch places, I came here on a Sunday morning and tried an order of chocolate chip pancakes and "Fresh Squeezed OJ" (Sometimes my adventurous side does not serve me well: This was one of those times.) It was, quite simply, the worst pancakes I have ever had. (And that includes the time I, as an experiment, made totally organic pancakes which nearly poisoned someone) First the "maple" syrup provided by Eagles Deli: I put maple in quotations because the closest this syrup every came to a maple tree is when people hang themselves from a maple tree after eating it and wanting to end the torment of the taste in their mouth as quickly as possible. It was pure synthetic and really shockingly sad synthetic at that! An MBTA worker sitting next to me said: "Urine tastes better!" and those guys would know! Second, the pancake it self: Huuuack! Huuuack! Huuuack! (that's me gagging from just recalling the horrible, horrifying, horrific, horrendous taste that the pancakes left in my mouth...my tongue will never be the same) After only one bite of the frightful and appalling excuse for breakfeast food I realized immediately (being a bit of a chef myself) what was wrong: it was made from flour that, probably from being bought in cheap bulk and stored in unsanitary conditions, went bad months ago and any ethical restaurateur would have disposed of accordingly. I think it was Mocolate, like in that Friends episode! Because it certainly was "What Evil must taste like!" And It smelled what Evil must smell like too (kinda like the green line on St. Patrick's day). Even the Butter provided tasted fake and deathly. Like it should be called "Buter" to avoid lawsuits from thousands of angry cows, livid that their good name would be so unjustly tarnished by association with such a product that obviously did not come from them or any other earthly creatures. So I went to wash down the horrid, corpse-like after taste with the "Fresh Squeezed OJ", consoling my self that "at least they can't screw this up!" As soon as the beverage touched my lips my face turned beat red with anger: IT WAS NOT FRESH SQUEEZED OJ!!!! It was cheap Super Market OJ dispensed into little clear plastic glasses to swindle people into thinking it was fresh squeezed OJ and then sold at $3 plus a cup. I never felt so robbed from a Boston establishment since the time I bought tickets to see Metallica and ended up having to see the Spice Girls. Grrrrrr.... And this where is my Public-Servant-who-demands-accountability side came out: I immediately confronted the staff about this fakery and grotesquely illegal business practices: they could not be more shady and evasive. Well, since I will be making a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau, they will find shady and evasive only gets you so far in life. Shame one the people who own this "restaurant". Ok I admit that I saw this on Man vs Food and that was the main reason why I wanted to try this place. But then I did some research and asked around solidifying wanting to go. So glad I did. These burgers are pretty damn good. Last few burger places I've gone to were disappointing to say the least. Eagles Deli hit the mark! I ordered the Brunch burger which comes with a fried egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato and provolone but I changed it to american cheese. They only thing that could of made it more perfect is if the egg yolk was a little runny to allow it to really sink into the burger. Next time I will order it that way. Fries are very tasty. Not sure what they do to them but I really like em. Prices are reasonable and the menu is more than just burgers to include breakfast. Eagles Deli was a staple of my high school weekend life after some late night debauchery. Unless they've rotated us out, I have a few pictures on the wall from some Godzilla burger conquering that would bring back a lot of memories when I'd see them on the wall. Now that I'm veg, I don't really see myself going back to Eagles, but man, I loved it for what it was. Greasy, messy, delicious burgers that would make Carls Jr. commercials eat their heart out, with sandwich sizes and portions of delicious fries that will make you take some of the biggest dumps of your life. What more could you ask for? Napkins. That's what you could ask for. If you go in for the Godzilla burger (or higher), you must finish without help from your friends so that you can take pride in your picture on the wall and know that you're a legitimate Godzilla slayer. read more

In fairness, this wasn't Eagle's false advertising, it was my bf's. It's a greasy spoon like every other diner I've ever been to. With the exception of it being fairly mediocre. The food (with the exception of the burger) is clearly all pre-packaged, frozen, and deep fried. If I wanted frozen onion rings, I'd go to the supermarket and buy them. The bf liked his burger, which he told me was "the same" as he'd remembered it. But, he stressed, the food was very different from how he'd remembered it, which he kept apologizing for since I was underwhelmed. It was also randomly expensive. The portions were huge and pointlessly so. I took an entire box of fries and onion rings out, which we promptly gave to a panhandler next door. Eagle's is well known for their gigantic burgers and challenges. Well, I work two blocks down the street so I don't usually go for a five pound burger during my lunch break, but when I do stop by Eagle's and feel like a burger, I always pick up a kiddie burger which is called kiddie, but I bet no kid can finish it. I love how they always ask how you want your burger cooked and what you want on it cuz some places don't care, they'll put on whatever the hell they want to. Anyhow, the only problem that I have with Eagle's are their fries. I like mine crunchy, but they're always mushy. You have to request to have them "well done", but out of the ten times that I have ever even made the request, I have only gotten them crisp once. And the burgers are tasty, but most of the burger ends up on my lap rather than in my mouth cuz it's just so sloppily made sometimes. And one more thing, I once got a burger with cucumbers on it which was good cuz I'm a fan of cucumbers, but it was still weird. I think they meant to reach for pickles. Anyways, this is a long list of complaints, but I refused to go under three stars cuz their burgers, no matter how messy and sloppy and mushy, taste great. read more

After a long and weary search throughout the Boston area, I am pleased to say that I have finally found a burger worthy of consumption by the male species. And dripping down the tower of beef, the cheddar was extremely flavorful and added a wonderful gooey, cheddar aftertaste to every juicy bite. I wouldn't say it's the best burger I've had, but damn they are good. Perfectly cooked, juicy as all hell, and great combination/specialty burgers. Probably the best burgers I've found in the Boston area. I'm not sure it's worth the drive, though. I would rather just go to Fuddrucker's which is right down the street. I ended up having "The Inferno" burger, which contains a spicy habanero sauce, jalapenos, and onions. My fiance had "The Blaze" which is essentially a Big Mac: russian, lettuce, and tomato.
