The inn was comfortable with plenty of seating on the first floor for chatting. They have fire pit just across the street by the lake. We spent a couple of hours enjoying the nice weather and fire with Cedar Point off in the distance. Our room was cozy and well appointed. We had a super comfy bed and our own bathroom with shower. Sheets and blanket were perfect. Breakfasts were delicious and meticulously made with ingredients from their garden. My favorite was the frittata with veggies. Coffee, tea and water available 24/7. A nice place we'd happily return to on our next trip to the island.

Tricia's delicious cooking and baking was one of the highlights of the weekend, and home made afternoon sangria was such a treat. I even left the island with one of her recipes for a yummy quiche! The location overlooking the lake is beautiful and they have a private dock at the edge of the water that we really enjoyed sitting on. The rooms are very quaint and filled with antiques. They did not have central air conditioning in the room, so if you like to control the temperature please make note of that. The second floor rooms do seem to get a little warm, but we turned on the fan and opened the windows to catch a lake breeze. The property is about one mile from the ferry marina and the downtown area. A lovely on-island stay.

We stayed there over the 4th and we could hear every footstep in room above. Toilets had no seat tops and beds were not comfortable. Worst of all, all communication was via texting! The location is great, but for the price ($250+) we think we could have done much better. Next time we will stay at The Breakers at Cedar Point!

Pros: nice staff, beautiful view from front of hotel, seemed pretty clean, quiet during our visit,…read morebreakfast was available until 11:30 am which was good for a morning hater like me. Microwave and tiny fridge in room. Good water pressure even on 3rd floor. This one was a deal breaker for me: the beds are super hard (some people may like this, I am not one of them) and the bedding wasn't comfortable. Looked worn, sheets were scratchy. Other: decor is dated looking, window coverings were worn, the bar felt like an afterthought, and the breakfast buffet was better then a standard continental breakfast. Breakfast is NOT included with the stay, but there is a discount for hotel guests. We were scheduled for 2 nights and only stayed one. The bed was really our major complaint, but it was a huge deal for us. A good night's sleep is important and I didn't get it. There's a lot to like here, but the bed was such a negative for us that I couldn't recommend the place to friends or family.

The entire town is filled with small cottages old and new. People usually will rent a cottage here for a week in the summer as a vacation home. My family has done this for 40 years. We owned a house within the gates for over 30 years as well. The community is shimmering with kindness. Everyone traveled by bikes and golf carts within the gates, if you forgot your bike I'm certain someone will lend you one for the day, or you can rent you golf cart from Syphred cycles. The town is entirely gated and guarded 24/7. You must purchase a day pass to enter the grounds. The result is that the town is extremely safe. I have been allowed to wander to grounds and ride my bike around alone since I was 5 years old. There are quaint candy shops and other nice stores to shops around. Several tasty restaurants and a beautiful Pier and beach. tons of stuff for kids to do including 3-4 parks, shuffleboard, and an amazingly beautiful lakefront path. I come here every year for 4th of July so this town holds some deep nostalgia for me. I have brought tens of friends here over the years and it is indescribably lovely. I'd advise anyone to come to Lakeside

We didn't see many people of various ethnicities and races other than white. Enjoyed walking on docks, visiting shops, shuffle board, Hawaiian ices, lunch at The Hotel, and walking all around. Wonderful day!
