Root Canals: I required 2 root canals on teeth #s 24 & 25. I was referred to Dr. Shah, DMD who…read morespecializes in Endodontic by my dentist Dr. Tommy Turkiewicz, DMD. Both practitioners are located in Peachtree City, Fayette County, GA. I had no preconceived idea of what I might expect, as I have never had a root canal and those I do know that have had root canals (they) were done so long ago I was certain the procedure would be updated. When I walked into the Office, I was impressed by the waiting area which had a wonderful light & clean scent - NOT perfume & not medicinal, simply fresh. The seating area is tastefully appointed in soothing paint colors, pleasant artwork on the walls seasonal decorations (in this case miniature pumpkins, orbs, hand painted real pumpkins as well). I was also greeted by a smiling & friendly office staff who were prepared with my information in hand. I somehow forgot my referral paperwork to which they replied kindly they would contact Dr. Tommy's office on my behalf. It was the "kindly" that impressed me - no indication that they were inconvenienced by having to make the contact. An extraordinary response considering many times graciousness is not displayed in many customer/patient related environments. I felt comforted by their response. The Care, Quality, and Professionalism displayed & taken by Dr. Shah & his assistants was exceptional! Full & complete information about the procedure was given prior to any procedure work commenced. I was told it was going to be a 2-visit procedure, the chosen technology used and for what purpose. There were 2 televisions for viewing: one parallel to the chair and one on the ceiling. I asked if it was ok for me to listen to an Audiobook during the procedure, which was encouraged so long as I was able to hear any questions asked. After full mouth X-rays taken, I was seated and Novocain was administered. The reason I bring this up is in all my life never have I experienced such a painless administration of Novocain! The technique employed included redirecting pressure on my lower lip while brief injections were administered. I never felt a pinch!! Remarkable! Sunglasses were placed over my eyes so the lights would not bother me. Quite considerate! After the procedure was complete, Dr. Shah (whose assistants were gentle, worked seamlessly with Dr. Shah, communicated clearly and genuinely enjoy their team & profession) showed me the work he performed and his expectations for success. They all bid farewell and to call with any questions or concerns. I Made my 2nd appointment, which was brief & rescheduled for 18 months noting I need a follow-up appointment with Dr. Tommy to complete any dental work needed. Post-Root-canal: the area around my gums & teeth were tender, not excruciating, antibiotics & Tylenol were all that was needed after the 1st visit. I started antibiotics 2-days prior to my appointment and continue until completed. overall this was a relaxing and pleasant experience. Dr. Shah is caring and clearly understands his role as a professional as well as genuine patient care. Thank you!!

(Two uncles are dentists out of state, so I'm picky about who touches my teeth!) Was it comfortable? Not really, but it was much more comfortable than the last two I had done. Dr. shah was patient with me, continually checking on how I was mentally. He was constantly concerned about my well-being and dental anxiety, explaining what he was doing every step of the way. Thank you, Dr. shah!

I'm kind of torn with this review. I was receiving great care from one young lady in particular…read more Her and the dentist together was able to tell me what was causing the pain and sensitivity in my mouth. I got a procedure done to correct it but the thing about that is he (the dentist) had a STUDENT doing the work. I didn't realize until towards the end. She left way too much cement in my mouth which has been causing so much pain. I've gone back three times to address the issue. The young lady helped me out again the last recheck and helped relieve some of the pain but I kept being prescribed antibiotics for a potential infection. I'm still having the pain today! Not to mention, sometimes you have credits and I wasn't aware. I had a $25 credit that turned in a $300 credit and was paying out of pocket every time for a service. I never knew I had it until my insurance company sent me the report for what I'm responsible for. When asked, they told me that my insurance company paid too much. I immediately asked for an itemized invoice and it took almost a month to get my $300 back due to HR not being in an office and working from home. Overall, would I recommend? Maybe. It's not a TERRIBLE place but would I be going again? Probably not.

The front desk worker, Tammy, stated that it wasn't her department to assist me when I asked for help in rescheduling my authorized visit for a military veterans claim. She was absolutely unprofessional, rude and told me it wasn't her "job" to reschedule me. Tammy should look for work in a department not dealing with those who proudly serve this nation and Fayette Dental Group should vet their employees better before staffing in such sensitive positions. I'll continue to recommend veterans and those who are looking for a good dental provider to choose another location other than Fayette Dental Group.

When I called to schedule, I spoke with Gwendolyn at the front desk, who told me that as a new patient they would need x-rays. I explained that I already had a full written treatment plan and scan from my previous periodontist (Peachtree Dental Group). She reassured me that since this was new insurance, they could take new x-rays anyway and told me to just bring whatever I had. When I arrived, Kindra at the front desk was wonderful, friendly and professional. But after checking in, I waited 45 minutes before being called back. Once in the chair, I asked the assistant if such long waits were typical. Instead of answering politely, she snapped that they were "waiting on my x-rays." I explained what I had been told on the phone, but she grew increasingly short and frustrated as I asked clarifying questions. She then took me for a scan, and the doctor (Dr. Ashe) looked in my mouth for all of five seconds before saying he couldn't move forward without x-rays from the other office. By this point, I had been there for over 90 minutes. Frustrated, I walked out to my car and immediately called my previous periodontist, who emailed my x-rays to me on the spot. I walked back into Great Expressions, gave them the x-rays, and rescheduled for the following week. At my second appointment, I again waited 45 minutes before being called back--only to have the exact same assistant ask if I had brought my x-rays. I told her I had emailed them a week earlier. She checked with the front desk, found them, and then told me they weren't the "FMX" the doctor needed. Once again, I was told they couldn't move forward. The doctor offered to transfer me to their general dentist for the FMX but couldn't say when I'd be scheduled. For comparison, I called a different dental office I hadn't been to in four years (Nova Dental), and they were able to schedule me for FMX within 30 minutes. When I asked Great Expressions if I could return later that same day with the x-rays, the doctor said the earliest they could see me again was "next week." When I expressed how poorly the situation had been handled, the doctor's response was: "Communication in the medical field is horrible everywhere. And I can't do anything about that." I replied, "I'm talking about your facility right now though" He stated "My name isn't on the sign, so I have no control here either. Ever since COVID, communication has been horrible, and I hope it gets better, but..." That was the final straw. This facility wasted my time twice, failed to communicate basic requirements clearly, and showed no accountability. The front desk staff (especially Kindra) were great, but the rest of my experience was chaotic and dismissive. I would not recommend this office for periodontal care if you have any other options.
