Loved staying at this campground! We were there for almost a week, and I really appreciated the amenities that they had. We were in a tent site, with electric which was handy. We weren't too far from the shared bathrooms which was great. What felt above and beyond were real amenities like the pool (which we sadly didn't end up using), a true general store with ice and other essential items, and the fact that they even did delivery directly to campsite for firewood (which was amazing!). In addition to that there was a playground for kids, mini golf, and corn hole. The only minor detractors were the highway noise nearby, which isn't really the campgrounds fault. There are signs saying engine braking isn't allowed on that section of the highway, but there was still a lot of engine noise from truckers throughout the night. Another detractor was the small size of the fire rings. It looked like they were old brake drums from a large truck. What made this challenging is that the firewood logs didn't properly fit, which made cooking over the fire challenging, but not impossible. This is personally my first experience with KOA, but I was so impressed I look forward to staying at more of their properties! read more

We stayed for four nights in late May at the Hot Springs, SD KOA. We have visited the Black Hills several times over the years and wanted a quieter experience than is offered at Palmer Gulch or Rafter J. This KOA at Hot Springs definitely fit the bill! A beautiful little KOA right off Highway 79 close to downtown Hot Springs. We used this KOA as a base of operations for exploring the Black Hills / Custer / Rushmore area in addition to Badlands National Park and of course, Wall Drug! Although not as close to Rushmore as Hill City, the drive through Custer State Park is absolutely amazing! Our site was a FHU pull-through patio #51. This is a great site as it's on the end with lots of room on the camp side. Very long with ample room for tow vehicles / toads. As we travel with two juvenile labrador retrievers (LOL) getting them exercise was not a problem. Their dual area fenced Kamp K9 was a great place to let them let off steam. A lush grassy enclosure! There is also a leashed pet walk area at the back of the campground to walk the pups . Pine trees are everywhere and it created a nice shaded atmosphere. Interior roads are dirt and sites are gravel, but dust was no problem. Our patio site seemed fairly new and had lots of room with table, chairs, fire ring and gas grill. There was also lots of space to set up our outdoor dog pen. Perhaps it was the time of year, but everything in the area was very green and beautiful. We did have haze from the Canadian fires one night, but it was not a problem. Staff was very helpful and offered tips on the surrounding areas. Camp store was smaller, but had a good variety of items. Pool was not open for the season yet, but it looked nice! read more

The best check in ever. Very informative and friendly. The family managing the site are super customer service oriented. It felt like a nice hotel where they could deliver ice, food, wood... Loved the cool and refreshing pool. Clean and easy laundry facilities. We needed $15 dollars in quarters for lots of laundry and there was no problem. They recycle! So many do not. They even took our recycling from our previous travel. The camp store had what we needed. The location was great for us. I generally do not post reviews but the management was so great that I wanted to post. read more

Stayed here for a few nights while visiting SD. Campsite was very clean and owners were very hospitable. I will say campsite is a bit removed from some of the popular attractions so if you don't have a car I'd recommend renting one from enterprise in rapid city. read more

What a pleasant experience! We spent 2 nights in a dry cabin. The cabin, bathrooms and park were immaculate! What a peaceful stay.

Our 2 night stay at KOA Campground in Hot Springs, South Dakota was wonderful! We drove by thinking we were headed to Rapid City but instead we changed course and went back. We arrived and checked into #74 camping cabin which happen to be the very first spot you drive by. The cabin was close to the 87' degree outdoor pool, store and laundry room. It was perfect! There was a queen bed and sofa sleeper for the girls, full bathroom with sink, t.v., fridge and AC!!! The girls and I had a fire each night. The first night we experienced and intense strong that turned the power off and everything. We checked this morning and took an early morning dip. I was able to enjoy my cup of coffee poolside! Definitely recommend staying here because the staff was very accommodating and kind! I also learned that most KOA camping cabins are bring your own bedding so remember that. Thank you! read more

Only thing I'd change would be to add a light at the dog park. Other than that this camp ground was wonderful. Todd was a great host. He was very helpful and welcoming. The location is perfect for being a semi short drive to everything, but far enough away that it's relaxing. Can't wait to visit again this summer and get to enjoy the pool. read more

This campground is wonderful! It's right off the road, but you'd never know it's there. Check-in was easy, the lady working the desk was super friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were swanky, and there weren't many people when we stayed, so it was very peaceful. Pricing, of course, was extremely reasonable. But when I open yelp and search for campgrounds while I am sitting in the KOA camp it says there are no reviews for this campground. So maybe the pin needs an exact address...? Anyway, there is only 1 KOA camp at this location and I just want to connect them. Clean, quiet campground. Clean bathrooms, nice tent spots, cool pool. Friendly, helpful staff. Would stay again if I was in the area. Next time I would definitely pack lighter for camping here. Every site I saw had a picnic table so we wouldn't need to pack a table and camp chairs. 24 hour laundry room. Pool open 9-9 $11 Pizza to order in the evening. Wow, this place was great! We got a cabin with no bathroom and was upgraded to one that had one when we got there! Cabin was immaculate, even had heat / AC and a blue ray player! It was comparable to a hotel room (tv, refrigerator, shower, free wi-fi, etc) in every way except you also get a porch and a bbq! Everybody was so nice and you could tell they really care about the campground and the campers. Plus it's close to Rushmore and all the parks. Oh, and they make and deliver pizzas to your site, how cool is that? I would recommend this campground to anyone, especially the cabins! read more

This KOA campground is amazing! We were there late in the year, when the weather was snowing and freezing. Suzanne and her husband went 100% out of their way to help us from the moment we arrived. Even though it was late, and after hours, they escorted us to our sight, and gave us a cell phone number to use ANYTIME if we needed ANYTHING! And of course, we did. And they could not have been more helpful, and brought us many items, as we were having a problem with our trailer draining. WAY about and beyond service! We would stay here again anytime. My dad and I booked this camp ground at the last minute and this might be the best camp site I have experienced based on what services they provide from outdoor stuff to do if you have a family including a nice pool, basketball half court, decent playground, to even a mini golf course. I was very pleasantly surprised how well their front desk help made me feel at home. Todd was a great host and deserves recognition for addressing any issues we had with finding anything around the camp site to helping us scope out some sites in the area. He genuinely wanted to go out of his way to help out and that made the experience great. The only issue I could come up with was the wifi connection can be a bit on off the further you are away from the main building. But everything else made up for that shortcoming and I can say keep up the great work! read more

Loud. Right next to the highway. A dog was barking for most of the night and someone had music playing until 3am. I thought there would be quiet hours like most campgrounds but not last night. I wish we would have saved the 30 dollars and stayed somewhere quieter. I'm sure it was a one night thing with the dog and music. But still annoying. I gave them 4 stars still though because the people are friendly, the bathrooms are nice and you can tell they care about the place. read more

First time RV er they helped us with everything from backing in to adopting our 2 cats that could not survive trailor life, they are now the KOA mousers, happy! Would definitely recommend! The hosts here will go above and beyond to make sure you're a Happy Camper! Literally! I did tent camping here for two days and was very pleased. Exactly what you would expect from a campground.. They have a central restroom that's easy to get to, and is well-maintained, and showers are hot. Their little 24 hour laundry room is actually an awesome laundry room, and as mentioned, the hosts are really awesome people that are super nice. Ps: Noise wasn't an issue at all. I've been to many campsites, and every now and then you'll come across some noisy campers, but that could be anywhere... The handout they gave me had posted quiet hours from 10pm to 7am. read more

We were here 2 nights at end of July. We have never stayed in a KOA before so thought it was going to be a parking lot. It was really nice with lots of trees. Close to town (Hot Springs turned out to be one of our favorite places on the whole trip, who knew?!?). The owners are what makes this place great, so friendly and helpful. We've stayed at other KOA campgrounds and had great experiences and really liked the facilities. Unfortunately, this was not one of them and was not worth the money. We camped in a tent - tent spaces were incredibly small. Even looking around, the RV spots were tight as well. There was only one bathroom in the entire campground, at the front, nowhere near people in tent spaces. There was a horrible smell all through our the campground - it smelled like sewage. The dumpsters were overflowing which is unsanitary and not good for wildlife. There were dogs off leash. Additionally, there were incredibly loud people around us (very close since the spots are small) until midnight. Quiet hours don't seem to be monitored/enforced, or the type of people camping here just don't seem to care and the managers have accepted that's how it is. It's also noisy since it's right off the highway and you can hear all of the cars. read more

Super friendly staff... the amenities are nice mini golf, play ground, large pool, volley ball and other open areas. The drive to the spots was a little tight for a 40' goose neck and we had to play a little to get it in, I'm sure the same may be said of getting our due to the trees and a possible camper across the way ( or other trucks parked in the road as they could not get all the way in. There is also a very noticeable grade we had to lower our front way down but our tail is sticking way up. Why the five star. Service. Once we were in our spot our hose was just to short, I told the lady that took us to our site I'd run into town to get a hose. Two seconds later she was there with a hose we could use. Amazing from check in to check out they have always asked if you need any thing or any help. That's not just the owners it been all of the staff... for those of you worried it's near the highway, I'm writing this with my rv window open and no noise.... I'm staying for two nights and if I was in the area I'd stay again. read more
