Good mechanic. Reasonable prices. Our car was making worrying noises, when turning, and especially when braking during a (western Maryland) mountainous drive. Back home, we took made an appointment online (Jul 2026) and took the car to Eakles ("ehk" as in weck). They inspected the brakes and found no problems. We may have overheated them or gotten some gravel up in the brake pads. The turning noise was a rubbing rotor or some such wheel part. They repaired it. The cost was much lower than i expected. New to the area, I asked a neighbor for a Car Mechanic recommendation and they told me to call Tim at Eakle's Auto Car. I have an older Lexus and it seemed that one of the sensors in the bumper got knocked out and needed to be repositioned and secured since there was no longer a bracket under the bumper. I told him that an aftermarket product or a quick fix would be fine and that I was not looking to restore it to factory condition but just be operational. 45 minutes later, he called me to tell me my car was ready. Tim had used simple tools to secure the sensor in place and ensured that it worked and performed as it should. I'm new to the state and had to get a safety inspection for my car in order to register it. I choose this place since it's close to where I reside and of course the reviews. First time I took my car, it failed the initial inspection, they gave me a detailed list (inspection was thorough and took a few hours)and explain what the state requires and what repairs need to be done. Made the necessary safety repairs, then I took the car back for inspection and passed. They didn't charge for the re-inspection. Very professional all around. Tim Eakle runs a firearm business out of this location. I had a firearm transferred here for pickup. He gave me the run around about filling out some mysterious paperwork and would not transfer my firearm to me. I own 30+ firearms and have never been treated the way this man treated me. He is unprofessional and untrustworthy and a flat out crook. He tried to charge me storage fees on a firearm he refused to transfer to me. I am sure his ethics in his automotive shop are the same. I live in Ellicott City and I've used Eakle's off and on since 2014 (back when I was reassigned from Ramstein Air Base, Germany to the Pentagon). The maintenance performed is always timely and high quality, and the price is always reasonable. To boot, they aren't constantly looking to upcharge customers like other car repair outfits in town (looking at you, Goodyear). My only issue is that the "bedside manner" of the workers leaves a lot to be desired. I never get that warm, welcoming feeling you'd expect to get as a customer. Maybe I'm old fashioned and that's no longer a thing, or maybe I just need to change my deodorant. If that's not a big deal for you, then you can't go wrong with Eakle's. read more

Twice already I attempted to work with them. First they were quick to direct me to the Infiniti dealer, and even quicker to charge me a high inspection fee. I came to you trying to save money over Infiniti service... Second attempt, I took my second car, for A/C repair, but Steve for some reason thought that would be my job description to deal with my extended warranty ... I have been taking several of my vehicles to Eakle's now for the past few years. It's so reassuring to know that when I leave my car their for service, they will do whatever is needed, fix whatever is wrong and never upcharge or do anything unnecessary. They are responsive and honest and the one time that I had an issue (a bad oil filter after an oil change) they went out their way to address it immediately to minimize any inconvenience to me. They also "know what they don't know". When we had and electrical issue with one of our vehicles, he referred me to another place rather than spend hours of labor working on something that was better addressed elsewhere. I have taken my vehicle to Eackles several times; however, the last time I took my vehicle to be serviced I found them to be less than honest. I requested an oil change and tire rotation as I was preparing to go on a country cross country road trip. When paying, I noticed I had not been charged for the tire rotation. I was told that it had been done but was not charged for it. After looking at my tires I discovered it had not been done. Simply admit the work had not been done. Don't lie about it. read more

My family takes all of our cars to Eakle's - they're top notch. Every time that we have an issue, we get an honest & fair appraisal, and their quote typically is significantly cheaper than other body shops. I had had a brake issue that eventually came back after they fixed it the first time, and the second time that I brought it in, they had a record of fixing it before and fixed it again at no cost. Being a woman, I've had other places try to rip me off my assuming that I don't know what I'm talking about (which is true - I'm no car expert, but my Mom & Dad are very knowledgeable and tell me what to expect when I go in), but at Eakle's I always feel like they respect me and even take the extra second to explain why they're going to do the service they've selected on my car. My mom was having transmission issues, and they honestly told her that replacing the transmission wasn't a good move at this point because it would be worth more than the car. They did, however, do a few simple repairs to help her transmission run better and keep the car running significantly longer than it would have. Overall, I love Eakle's! Told me I needed new catalytic converter when it was just an ignition coil. A difference of a $60 part and a $2000 part. Sounds like they were trying to increase my repairs unnecessarily. Apparently Tim can't read a scanner or he is straight up dishonest. Techs don't know what they are doing here. Eakle's is the only fair and honest mechanic I've found in the area. Everyone who works there is friendly and takes time to understand what's going on with your car. Their prices are much lower than you'll find anywhere else, but the quality of their work is so much better than any mechanic I've been to! What's more is that they stand by their work. I had them replace my brakes a few months ago, then recently took my car back for a noise that seemed unrelated. They determined the noise was brake related and fixed it at no cost! Just received service from this automotive repair shop for the second time and feel that they provide great service. Requested that the shop to provide a quote regarding my camshaft gasket. Obtained a quote and remembered that I had the gasket in my trunk. Notified the repair person and waited to receive a call once finished. When I asked for an updated quote since I provided the part, at first there was some discrepancy, however, when I arrived ready to debate the price it was already adjusted to properly reflect a price lower since I provided my own part. Over the years I have had several occasions where I've had to use Eakle's for service. On the last two visits both involved health checks of vehicles. One was an older Nissan inherited from a relative that needed an inspection and check for other necessary repairs. I dropped it off believing SOME repairs would be necessary. A few hours later later I got a call telling me it was ready and nothing was found wrong with it. In my experience with mechanics, that is not likely to happen often. They will usually find some reason to beef up your repair cost. But not at Eakle's. My most recent experience on 3/18/19 involved my 2016 Ford F-150. I was in Salt Lake when my last oil change and tire rotation was due. I knew no good mechanics so I opted for a Jiffy Lube to do the work. While there the mechanic told me my brake pads were getting close to needing to be replaced and the rotors needed to be turned. Not really wanting to have the work done 2,100 miles from home and not having experienced any issues with the brakes, I told them I would have it done at home. I took the truck in to Eakle's for a brake job but when the truck was inspected it still had 75% left on the brake pads and the rotors were fine. This is another time where a less honest shop or mechanic could have done unnecessary work to jack up the price. This is an honest shop that also happens to do exceptional work (when it's needed). My family has been taking our cars to Eakle's for over 15 years now. They are incredibly honest, trustworthy, reasonably priced and they do fantastic work. They also explain any issues with your car and give you all of the options available to fix them. I have since moved to Baltimore city and I refuse to let any other shop touch my car. I had a little what we will call "critter" chew a wire under my hood and still had my car towed there from downtown so they could fix it for me. I made the huge (one time) mistake of trying to get a close-by oil change from a "not to be named auto shop in Mt Washington" near my office and returned to a huge bill, list of unnecessary recommendations for my vehicle, and a very rude owner.
