I like how the teachers take the time to listen and treat each child as an individual. Yes there are rules and structure but they know there is "wiggle room" within that. When my son had problems paying attention they had multiple tools to try to help him. He still has his days (they're 4. Then they have lunch and nap time and the afternoon is play time. If its nice out they all go outside in the back which is very secure and has a jungle gym and other various toys. When its raining or cold they have a big room that they call the "movement room" and its like a mini gymnasium that the kids can run around and play in. They also have different activities during different holidays and even held a picture day with a photographer like they do in grade/high school. The teachers are all really friendly and genuinely care about your child. Lastly and one of my favorite things is that they utilize an app that allows your child's teacher to send you updates throughout the day and they even send you pictures- it always makes me smile when I am at work and get a notification that they posted a picture, it really makes my day!! At the beginning of the summer my son suffered a fall down a flight of 15 stairs at a different daycare. We immediately pulled him out and were stuck figuring out how we would get through the summer as two working parents. I called daycare after daycare and left messages with everyone but most places were on a waitlist and couldn't accommodate him. Cadence called us back quickly and recognized the difficult spot we were in and were able to provide a part-time spot . They provided such a warm, caring and safe environment. It was clear from the moment we toured, that the teachers had a tremendous amount of love for the kids in their care. Had we not committed to another school for the year - we would have been 100% comfortable keeping him at Cadence. At drop-off and pickup it felt like we had been a member of their community for longer than just a few weeks. He always came home excited and looked forward to arriving. He started his new school yesterday and his teachers said he had an amazing day. He listened, was polite and shared with others. He even shared stories about his friends and teachers from Cadence with the new staff. Their team was an essential part of helping him and setting him up for success. We cannot thank them enough for helping our family through a difficult time and providing a safe and warm environment. We highly recommend them.

The Director will constantly gossip with her employees and talk about employees with other employees and start drama between them. it is extremely unprofessional and causes hostile work environment. when the Director gets called out, she doubles down and lies saying that the accusations aren't true and she doesn't know what you're talking about. it is to the point where she is letting employees go who she knows well stand up to her and spread the truth about her. The Director does not want the word getting out that she is the cause of the workplace drama so she is "cleaning house". it's a shame because the children are the ones who are suffering. they are becoming attached to teachers then having to get used to new staff over and over again. even with $1000 hiring incentive bonus on the website nobody wants to work there.

One of the lifeguards constantly crossed personal boundaries and eventually called me an alcoholic because I did not accept his unsolicited medical advice. The aquatics director and CEO made me stand in his office despite me telling the CEO that I cannot stand or sit for an extended period due to chronic pain and my disability, and while making me stand and listen to him repeat everything he said over email, they both basically took the side of the lifeguard, suggesting without asking the offensive party that the lifeguard was "joking" and I was more or less holding a grudge. They even suggested that the Bayside pool wasn't the right pool for me because I was offended by being called an alcoholic by this lifeguard. They never asked the lifeguard to apologize to me after I requested an apology. I do not feel respected at this YMCA branch. Another issue is the staff don't tell you that there's an additional annual fee on top of the regular monthly fee and joiner's fee until after you've joined. I reached out to the same CEO and membership director about this issue, and have been met with silence for over a month. But when they didn't like that I complained about a lifeguard slandering me and his continued foul mannerisms towards me, the CEO wouldn't leave me alone constantly emailing me and demanding I go into his office when I asked for a phone call to accommodate my disability to address the issue.

Their family membership is an excellent value when you take into consideration the complementary child care. Their pool and locker facilities were recently renovated and are very nice. The YMCA offers a wide variety of classes, and although the selection might not be as robust as other facilities, I have enjoyed them. The cardio/weights room, where I spend a lot of time has been updated with brand new equipment and is well managed - there are typically available cardio machines in the busy morning hours. This Y is also located next to the East Bay Bike Path - so one can easily bike here, and go out running during or after a visit. Bottom line a good value, a good facility for the area.

In the meantime, she was accepted into another school. Despite not finalizing enrollment or giving consent, we were still charged. The owner had assured us that no charges would be made without our approval, yet he went ahead anyway. He later emailed claiming he would issue a refund by check, but that never happened. He continues to claim we gave consent and that the refund was processed--neither of which is true. We never agreed to anything, never signed paperwork, and never received our money back. This place is only interested in taking your money and will say anything to justify it. Avoid at all costs!

My child shouldn't go to school only to start becoming anxious about going to a tense environment. There's no real education provided because the "Waldorf" method of observational learning is what most children receive at home anyways (observing adults clean, cook, iron clothes etc.). It's nice they spend so much time outside; however, having children eat breakfast early in the morning on frigid winter days is just unnecessarily miserable (to name one example). The director suddenly left for weeks and the woman, Stephanie, who was appointed to replace her didn't seem to have any real qualifications. At drop-off and pick-up I also noticed issues with Helen/Mr. Carl and Stephanie treating the other employees poorly. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.
