What a cute little local cafe! Came here on a Saturday morning with my boyfriend and it was pretty crowded. Got their mocha, vanilla latte, original avocado toast (without sprouts) and their salmon avocado toast (without goat cheese). Their coffee was fine, nothing special about them, but their avocado toasts were really good! I'm normally not a big fan of hard boiled egg but these were perfectly cooked and the addition of chili oil took the toast to the next level! The salmon avocado toast was also pretty good but I wish they would be a little more generous with the smoked salmon. I would recommend this cafe if you live in the neighborhood and definitely try their avocado toast!This cafe is on the pricier side but it's a good place to go if you would like to treat yourself once in awhile! read more

I come to Early Bird whenever i'm in the area and looking for a place to work. Wifi is password protected and always works perfectly! They expanded their menu to include more filling options - like a chicken bowl. I had delicious buffalo chicken chili, which I'd definitely order again. the chicken in the chicken bowl was a bit on the dry side. Early bird is such a pretty shop. Very small but they have seating indoors n outdoors. The menu has a variety of options like smoothies, baked goods, toasties , bowls n grab n go. They're a great addition to the riverdale neighborhood as there aren't much cofee shops close by. They also sell merchandise cute shirts, cups and I have even seen flower bouquets sometimes. This place WAS good when they first opened. The food and coffee is so underwhelming.. it's insane especially for the price . The service was awful. I just left and was served my food with pure attitude. Nothing was made with love. The coffee was beyond sugary. We ordered a yogurt bowl and just toast + two DSNY coffees. First of all the yogurt didn't appear to have honey, so we politely asked for a drizzle on top and the lady who was preparing the food caught the craziest attitude... like it bothered her to do something so simple... after that I waited for my toast and she practically threw the box at me.. unbelievable. Also the "Just toast" is supposed to be butter + jam. There's barely any butter on my toast and I was given SMUCKERS packets. They just lost two local customers and I'll make sure everyone I know also doesn't return! :) don't work in service if you don't know how to provide good customer service AND IT WASNT EVEN BUSY!! read more

I have a few issues with this store 1. I tried calling in an order and they wouldn't answer the phone, when I arrived I placed my order and they were out of stock of the item I wanted which seems to happen a lot, when I asked them about the phone they said they "lost" their phone, it's been about 3 weeks since they lost their phone and still haven't replaced it. 2. They have very long wait times, I'm not impatient but I've waited and just watched the girls be completely distracted in conversation with eachother rather than working on orders. 3. Yesterday I waited over 20 min for them to make an avocado toast, I saw them just talking and when she decided to get to my toasted it was was burned 4. Service - B Depending on which person is working, their hair is not under a hat or pulled back and is in the blender while making smoothies or in food while leaning over making the bowls. The 2 owners are surprisingly not the most friendliest. And they too go behind the counter and prepare items for customers with their hair flailing everywhere. Earlybird CAN be great. But it's just so inconsistent. My order is made right 1 out of every 4 times. The smoothies taste different every time. Sometimes there's too much ice and it just tastes like a slushy and other times it's super watery. I guess each worker makes it different and the owner needs to show them how to make it the same each time. Today was it for me. My smoothie was so filled with ice it was almost inedible. The other day it had big ice chunks in it because it wasn't blended enough, so the smoothie wouldn't come up the straw bc the ice would get stuck. It stinks because it's a local spot close to home, but when you're paying $12 for a smoothie it should be made correctly and be consistent. :( read more

Update! The kind owner saw my previous review and informed me they had tweaked the smoothie recipe a bit and wanted me to return to try it. Today, i was able to return and give the smoothie another go- i was not disappointed! It had the perfect consistency and the right balance of ingredients. The owner was in shop at the time and came out to introduce herself and chat a bit with my daughter and me. I really appreciated her kindness and welcoming nature. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat and good coffee with a spot to get some work done or sit outside in the warm sun, Earlybird is a great option! I found Earlybird when I was looking for a local North Bronx cafe that made avocado toast with soft-boiled eggs (SPECIFIC, I know), and this was everything I was looking for. It's a bit pricey, but good quality (not some weird guac smash). For drinks, they have a bunch of drinks of signature coffees. I was recommended their Zoey's Cinnamon Latte and it was SO good. read more

Earlybird is a new café to just open up this past week in North Riverdale. It's a game changer for the neighbourhood, with there not being any cafés of the sort around and generally limited options for food. There may be delis nearby with instant pod espresso drinks, but this is the first to open with an espresso machine. Come here for your cappuccinos, lattes, cortados, macchiatos and more. Earlybird was pioneered by two moms. In addition to different coffee and tea beverages, they have a great supply of croissants, muffins, smoothies and smoothie bowls. There are no bakeries in walking distance for a good croissant, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality (I'm not a fan of the croissants from Tierney's down the road). Their chia pudding is great and their special this week of fresh watermelon juice is a hit! Also, come for your fresh coffee beans! They have plenty of plant-based dairy alternatives. Prices are steep and comparable to Manhattan, but it seems everything is becoming more expensive everywhere as we recover from and come out of COVID-19. Interactions so far have been friendly and welcoming, and I hope they stay around. It's a treat not to make a trek to South Riverdale (3km) or Manhattan (6km) for a cafe. read more

This is a really nice addition to North Riverdale. The staff is friendly and helpful and the shop itself is clean and bright with several seats in the back. Their take on the PSL is FAR better than any chain and they make a really good iced tea. We will definitely be back. read more

This is the worst coffee I've ever had in my entire life. It basically just tasted like milk and water. Took like 10 minutes for a small iced coffee. My friend ordered cold brew and they got it wrong. The wall merch might be the worst part tho. read more

Unsanitary and unsafe with coffee grounds all over the place behind the counter and a lack of consideration for keeping any surfaces clean to BEGIN with or use New cleaning materials/washcloths, bad and inefficient service in that it took a long time for my order to be fulfilled and I noticed they gave me a cup that seemed to be another person's order with the previous customer's name crossed out??? and that makes me concerned that the previous customer never even got their order to begin with, plus the food and drinks on the menu are all overpriced to hell for mediocre to subpar drinks/bakery snacks.
