Even if the coffee sucked balz, I'd give Earth Coffeehouse 5 stars on atmosphere alone. EC is located in a 115 year old umbrella factory (Haas-Jordan Umbrella Company) on Summit, in the Vistula district. This place is so cool and comfortable. The couches are great, the plants are fantastic; even the music, cool jazz, usually, is great. The local art on the walls is perfect for this type of place. The service is friendly, fast, and accurate. The only downside, IMO, is that Earth doesn't accept cash. Not a big deal, 'cuz I got credit, baby!! I haven't eaten their food, yet, but I can't imagine the food at a coffeehouse could taint my opinion of the place. Oh, by the way, the coffee is excellent. I like strong flavors, and EC provides those in spades. Sometimes after work, I like to decompress a little. First, let's talk about what went well... The space itself is beautiful. The concept is absolutely necessary. While there is a coffeehouse/breakfast/lunch spot there is also the ability to pay for a membership and have access to some more private areas. This is an up-and-coming neighborhood, and everything we had was delicious. One of the women in our group got an iced chai, I had a great Cortado. Two of us split a salmon Caesar wrap. It was enormous and plenty big for two people. They have excellent waffle fries. The service, impeccable. To be fair, you go up, you order, and it's pretty much self serve like most coffee houses. Now, where they could improve. I tried to order a breakfast sandwich at 11:05AM and was told they had moved on to the lunch menu. Having a very small menu, it would be helpful if you could order breakfast items all day long. I went in really wanting a bagel with hot honey and bacon, but it wasn't available. While the salmon Caesar wrap was good, I really wasn't looking for a full lunch. Luckily I was able to split something with a friend. It is a very small menu. I can't stress that enough. I do like that they have seasonal drinks, call me crazy because I know it was almost 90° today but once school is back in session, I want a fall option. They didn't have one yet. Lastly, the parking! A lot of the parking was cordoned off today. It was like that the last time I went too. Parking was tight. That wasn't such a big deal for me, but it would be for a client. I meet with a lot of seniors with mobility issues. They just isn't a lot of accessible parking. This is a great event space and they have awesome coffee. I just wish the menu was a little larger or at least allowed for a full day menu and I wish parking was a little more accessible. read more

i just left this coffee shop & was asked to leave because i was with my service dog. Bree the manager asked for my service dog identification card which i do not legally need to show and she proceeded to ask what task my dog could perform which i shared with her. She walked away and then came back and said sorry im going to ask you to leave because we have a "strict policy". Prior to this, an employee already asked if my dog was a service dog and we said yes. For, them to come ask me not once but twice was very uncomfortable and very discriminatory. We were just sitting enjoying our lovely coffee. We weren't disturbing anyone. I have a hard time deciding how I fell about Earth. I enjoy their cozy atmosphere with plenty of seating options, however their food menu seems limited and I'm never exactly sure how to order my latte. I feel that the menu is somewhat hard to follow. The staff is always friendly, but sometimes I feel that the speed of service is slow. Additionally, they only accept card. Stopped here on a roadtrip on the way to Detroit from Pittsburgh. It was easy to access off of the highway (and near some gas stations as well). The inside is beautiful and so spacious! Love love love this place! The vibe is 10/10. The food is excellent but a little pricey. Coffee was very good, I got an iced latte and tried a smoothie. Both were very flavorful, coffee has a nice smooth taste too it and the smoothie was flavor packed. Skillet was very good, I was able to customize it and get it how I wanted but there's lots of breakfast options! I will be back to try lunch/dinner. All I have to say is... YES. Actually, let me choose a better word: FANTASTIC. This coffee house was recommended to me by my friend Nat, and I'm beyond grateful she told me about it. Being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, it can sometimes be difficult to find places where I truly feel accepted and comfortable. I'm originally from New York, but I moved to Ohio for a slower pace of life because I work in the amusement industry at Cedar Point. Since I'm temporarily staying in Toledo, I wanted to find a local coffee spot and I always prefer privately owned cafés over big chains. When Nat recommended Earth, I was ecstatic. After seeing photos, I knew I had to visit. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by incredibly kind and welcoming baristas who immediately made me feel at ease. They gave thoughtful recommendations and never rushed me, which meant a lot. I tend to get nervous when visiting new places due to anxiety and being on the spectrum, but they made me feel genuinely heard, respected, and welcome. I ordered my drink and sat down on one of the couches, and I honestly didn't even want to get up. it was that comfortable. Then, to my surprise, they brought my coffee directly to my table and introduced themselves. I believe his name was Corey. That small gesture spoke volumes about the level of care and hospitality here. The ambiance was incredible. The coffee was incredible. Everything about this place was incredible. It's more than just a coffee shop, it's a space where I can tell people are seen and valued. Love love love the ambiance. This is a perfect place for a morning date or to spend the afternoon working. There's plenty of space with lots of areas with flexible seating. The service left a bit to be desired. There were no problems but none of the staff (with the expecting of the manager) seemed particularly friendly or helpful. Our food tasted great but portions were small for the high prices, also both of our teas were only 3/4 of the way filled and lukewarm upon arrival. All in all, I would come back but I probably won't make this a frequent stop. read more

What a nice coffee shop! We were visiting from out of town and someone told us about this place. It was a spacious venue with plants everywhere! There were lots of rooms and areas to have meetings or do work. My husband and I only got coffee (Figgy Pudding Latte) and it was delicious! One of the best I've ever had, no joke. The fig syrup was so good and I could tell it was the real deal. The server who made our drinks was also very nice and made a pretty design with our drinks. Too bad I don't live near here! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. Could easily be missed, on the side of a building and when you walk in you think you've come in the wrong entrance. But turn right and the hall opens up to a gorgeous setting, live plants, relaxing lighting and the delicious aroma of espresso. I ordered a simple vanilla iced latte, and it was honestly one of the best drinks I've had from anywhere. The espresso was smooth velvety. Pricing was average, if not a little less than other shops. They use agave straws which is pretty cool to see as well. Didn't get to try any food, but it looked good. Fast and friendly service, engaging with customers. Love to see it! I had been exploring places to hold a group meeting and Earth came up a few times thanks to my algorithm. Since I work in the downtown Toledo area, I thought I would give it a try. Outdoor signage was almost non existent. Difficult to see first thing in the morning when it's still a bit dark outside. Thanks to gps, I made it okay. Entered the side of the building. As you walk up, you are a bit unsure if it's actually the entrance. When entering the building, you are met with a gorgeous decor full of plants and a lovely aesthetic. The inside lights are so dim, I still wasn't sure if I was in the right place. The barista assured me I was. While waiting to place my order, I took three photos of the indoor space and another customer asked me if I was a "member" and that pictures were not allowed. She seemed upset and told the barista I was taking photos. I was surprised and wasn't even aware that photo were prohibited. With everything to see, I must have missed the signage about photos. I explained my purpose to the barista and she told me it was fine, just not to post on social media. I ordered a latte, it was fine, nothing over the top but certainly fine. I asked about the membership and she told me the website to refer to for memberships. It was tolhouse.com. Overall, beautiful inside. Really beautiful. I did check membership fees but the website doesn't give enough info. I probably won't return unless I'm in that area. Parking was pretty limited and I was turned off by the customer that was likely a "member". I had planned on having breakfast there but decided not to since I didn't know if I was allowed to order food. In the barista's defense, she did apologize for the previous customer and said she didn't really want that type of energy in the coffeeshop. read more

Earth definitely charms you with the hip vibe and cozy plant-filled environment, so it does earn a star for that. My complaint is to do with the underwhelming food and poor customer service. Burgers taste highly of charcoal, fries came out cold, waitress/barista didn't seem to care. I asked for new and hot fries. Waitress came back and asked me to clear my burger off the tray and took the fries to warm up. I was finished with the burger and we were ready to leave by the time the fries finally arrived and she offered to wrap the fries to go. I asked for a refund for the French fries. The barista said she would need to text the manager. There was no effort in making this disappointing experience right for us. We left and decided not to spend any more time or money there on coffee or pastries. They seemed totally clueless. Will never go back. By the way. 2 burgers w/fries is an insane $38. read more

The location of Earth is a little interesting, as it's just outside of the general downtown Toledo area and heading into the north end. There's no signage when arriving so it was a little confusing because I was not sure I was in the right place. However, when you go in the front door there are signs pointing you to the right area so you definitely feel reassured when you get through the front doors. The aesthetic and decor is so cute and it almost feels as though you're in a cozy greenhouse with the plant decor and skylights. I can't add any photos, however, because there are signs requesting that no photos or videos be taken, although I'm not sure why since it could be a very instagramable place. The coffee was good and reasonably priced as compared to other Toledo coffee shops and they also have liquor that I'm assuming you can also add in or possibly get a cocktail? The food was definitely a little pricey but I got the French Toast with bacon and it was very thick and delicious and came with a fresh blueberry sauce. Definitely recommend if you're willing to splurge a little. We stayed and talked for hours, and with all the space I don't think you'd ever feel pressured to leave like in places such as SIP Coffee, etc where it's so busy and crowded.
