Our naan order being microwaved - I thought this was an Indian restaurant.
Alex J.

Microwaved naan. At a restaurant. At an Indian restaurant. Wait, what? My Irishman and I enjoy grabbing small random bites to share while walking around. While in Ann Arbor, we took this habit and went on a naan spree. This eatery was in our path when we decided to do this, so it was our first stop. Good thing it was - the naan was so sad in comparison to those from the places we visited afterwards. After placing our order for one naan to-go to share, we watched from the cashier counter as the individual moved behind the kitchen wall, still in sight, and proceeded to microwave our naan. We were as disappointed as we were amused. The naan we walked out with was too chewy and sogged up quickly from the nuking. The crumb also lacked flavor entirely, making for a subpar experience. Being that it was the first of the several we would have, though, we didn't mind too much, simply taking it for what it was. While they had lunch buffet laid out, I don't think we'll be back to try anything else given this experience.

Chana masala, tofu masala, mushrooms in Sauce with kidney beans, Sag Tofu (per pound)

So very incredibly delicious! Every flavor is worth jumping up and down for joy! On top of that, the staff is so welcoming. They treat you like family, truly kind and compassionate. It makes Me feel proud and comfortable knowing that My hard earned money is going to good people, you can tell they have pure intentions. The same can't be said for other restaurant owners who don't care as much for their customers. The food: Tastes home style, much unlike typical restaurant food Delightful variety Healthy Vegan/vegetarian with not a single taste lacking! Worth much more than it costs I can eat this everyday! I bought $125 worth of this deliciousness to have extra to store and eat over the course of a few days. I got SO much food for the money! Any event I have, My wedding even, I will elect to have Earthen Jar cater to!

My second visit to this gluten free and vegetarian gem! The food is delish and you pay by the pound so the portion is just right.

We got seated right before a waitlist started building. The QR code ordering wasn't working for us, but you can just order at the counter and the staff were helpful, so it wasn't a big deal. I got the Juicy Sean wrap, the pkhali side plate, and the chocolate tahini shake. The walleye in the wrap was really good, super fresh and light. I think next time I'd get extra sauce though because it leaned a little dry for me. The pkhali side plate was great. I've heard it's seasonal, which makes me want to come back and see what else they rotate in. The flatbread paired really well with it. The chocolate tahini shake was good. I'd heard a lot about it. It just didn't stand out as much as I expected personally. Overall I really liked it and I'd come back, especially to try more of the seasonal stuff.

We were welcomed in right away and I loved the friendly employees. The menu is completely vegetarian and many items can be made vegan. There is an Asian influence with lots of Korean flavors as well as Indian inspired dishes. We ordered the fried tofu sandwich with fries and the seaweed rolls (gimmari). Our food came out quickly and everything was hot and fresh. The fries were a large portion and super tasty (like McDonald's). I loved the seaweed mayo on the tofu sandwich as it does make it taste like a fish sandwich! The bread was a bit tough for eating as a sandwich but the flavors were great. The gimmari were a little mushy inside but the ssamjang mayo was savory and delicious. They have a cooler of interesting drinks -- I loved that some are labeled with descriptions. They also have other items for sale, like ramen pots, snacks, and stickers. I got a couple of packs of Oreos and some stickers and a postcard. I will definitely be back to try more food! I have never had a bad dish here. Vegetarian or not everything has been absolutely delicious!!!!…read more The 3 of us could easily choose our appetizer. IT IS A MUST HAVE!!!!! A shareable platter of garlic bread, vegan basil-cashew pesto, fresh tomato-basil relish, Kalamata olive tapenade and choice of sesame-crusted Goat cheese or house-made almond 'cheese' (Order with almond cheese to be vegan; Substitute gluten-free garlic bread to be gluten free). SERIOUSLY PEOPLE-IT'S A MUST!!! Unlike my sweet sister I try something different every time we come. The three of us had different meals last night. I had a cup of white bean and kale soup. It had diced carrots, onion, celery and sweet potatoes in a delicious broth. So savory and warm, the kale had obviously been rubbed and was as tender as could be. I ordered another appetizer instead of a full meal. I had the General Tso's fresh Cauliflower with a very light tempura batter sprinkled with sesame seeds in a sweet and sour chili sauce-It was the right amount of heat and I found it just right in terms of quantity for my dinner. My sister had the Taco Salad-which she raves about. I have yet to try it, but it looks delicious. Ingredients include; Romaine, fresh corn salsa, black beans, sweet potatoes, avocado, pumpkin seeds, and corn chips, with your choice of Chihuahua cheese or vegan mozzarella, and your choice of sour cream or vegan cucumber ranch, with house made salsa on the side (Choose vegan mozzarella and cucumber ranch to be vegan, Gluten free.) My brother-in-law was the smartest one of all of us as he ordered the restaurant week meal which included appetizer main course, salad & dessert! I'll post the restaurant week menu below. It was fabulous. since it was still happy hour I ordered a Mocktail- Iced Ginger Spritzer Ginger, lemon, agave and soda, on ice. Wow- super ginger forward. He also had a Mocktail: A Solar Blast containing Orange, grapefruit, lime and ginger, on ice. (Mmmmmm-refreshing!) He had the white bean & kale cup of soup. He chose the Gomadore Udon -a beautiful bowl. Brown rice and Udon noodles in a mushroom broth. Silky tofu, mung bean sprouts, carrots, zucchini, green onion and kale. Veggies blanched but still crisp. What a great entrée for a below 0° day. It was finished with a rich sesame Gomodore Sauce. There was a farro grain salad with it. His dessert was a Lavender Lemon Bar which he described as heavenly. No doubt about it- this was an exquisite meal. Our server was great. He stayed on top of everything without being intrusive. The ambience here is subtle and casual. Nice long bar area and plenty of dining space. We called ahead as they will add you to a wait list and we would highly encourage that you do the same. This is a well loved restaurant that has been here nearly forever!!!! Do yourself a favor -if you are in A2 go to the west side and dine here!!

We had the Hummus Nirvana and California Scramble with Tofu. Both dishes were delicious!read more

I recommend the soups - I love the beef and radish soup and the miso soup. The bao buns are large and filling. I like that there is an option for contactless order and that there are utensils and napkins for patrons along with free chili oil to pack up in small containers for takeout. Many restaurants today are charging for chili oil and even utensils, which I find to be absurd. There is lemon water for patrons to serve themselves as well. The buns are light with amazing fillings. Chicken and mushroom is my favorite. When the beef radish soup is in season, I have to get it every time. It's my favorite. The new menu items are a huge hit. Don't be shy on the chili oil. If you can handle a fair heat, then you'll love them. Angry red but not that spicy. The bbq pork belly boa is to die for and Jessi can make you whatever bubble tea you like. (I don't like a lot of sugar) Don't sleep on this place. It's popular for a reason. Wow. This place really raises the bar in every way possible…read more The drinks and desserts are the best I have had IN MY LIFE. Yes that's right. My husband said he had the nest hazy ipa of his life here too. A wild claim for foodies like us. They offer takeout in case you don't feel like crowding inside. AND they have the only pickle plate appetizer I have been able to find in the state of Michigan. Oh how i have missed these house pickles in different brines. The bartenders are not only incredibly talented and knowledgeable, they are friendly, cool, and so interesting! I think every single bartender I talked to over there had these attributes, and some even went above and beyond that too. I know, hard to believe, and the price tag matches. At least they are neither under or overrated? I come here for the bar atmosphere, the impeccable drinks and desserts and sometimes a snack. I prefer to go elsewhere for fresh oysters and dinner.

We celebrated a bday and my cousin got a churros- which was TO DIE FOR! Soft and crunchy, melt in your mouth. Nice cinnamon and sugar with a dark chocolate ganache dip. Great combo of sweet and savory! We had the blue tuna tapa and it was soft and delicate. We shared but I really think it's a one person dish. The steak with romesco sauce tapas was OK but not my favorite. The meat was too chewy for me. Good size to share The tiny starters: glazed pineapple on goat cheese crostini was good but not worth re-ordering. Yes- shareable. The star is the oxtail paella!! Wow, rich, crunch, juicy and the vinegar from the peppers was a great compliment. Good drinks and wine selections. Next time I'll stick with the seafood selections and the oxtail paella.
