My personal experience with this women's clothing/accessories store was watching Gayle look at and try on various items that piqued her fancy. And after a short while, I assured her that she should take all the time she wanted and that in the meantime I would wander around downtown. Gayle looks pretty fabulous in most everything she wears, so I wasn't worried about having to validate any of her wise choices. However, she does need to take me shopping, because perhaps on a few levels, I don't have a clue. From my perspective, Earthly Goods is a very attractive store that consists of a main floor and 2 mezzanine areas. There were also a couple of nice "male seats" available along with reading material. Gayle liked the selection, along with many of the styles and how they looked on her. However, she was not quite ready to "pull the trigger" on any of her choices. To the woman at Earthly Goods in Ashland, OR who would not let my four year old use your restroom as I was in the middle of trying on 8 pairs of shoes; in the words of Vivian in Pretty Woman, "You people work on commission, right? Big Mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now." I also had a two year old in tow. The bathroom policy is the stores, I think, and not the salespersons. I have tried to supporth this local business even though many people I know will not shop there because of the salespeoples snarky and condescending attitudes towards people they think are "tourists". I will not be shopping there anymore. Everything there can be found online. I think many people will follow my lead based on the huge response the post above received on Facebook. read more

Excellent selection of Birkenstocks! The only store in town which has them at this point. Including men's sizes. We have an Earthly Goods in the SF east bay and it is an over-priced snobby store. This one is no different. But glad to find the shoes! read more

Earthly Good has some beautiful pieces and a decent shoe selection, but I will never shop there again and I am strongly recommending my friends and family do the same. I was in there mid-morning with my two daughters who were behaving just fine - looking at shoes, staying close to my side and being quiet, when what seemed to be the manager came up near us with her hands in the position of picking up soiled clothing and said, "How many are there of you??" In the nastiest, most-pompous voice I have ever heard in a sales person. (I thought the point was trying to sell your goods, not send money-spending moms out the store never to return.) It's truly troubling that in a sweet, little town like Ashland, we have to encounter such disdain for our children. I could understand if they were tearing up the place and running around like crazy-people, but this wasn't the case. It's sad. read more

I always find great shoes here, and I haven't had any of the bad experiences that others have reported, thankfully. I even came in messy after a hike once and I didn't feel mistreated. I come back every time I'm in town .... and frankly, I now have way too many pairs of shoes, and I need to stop! read more

This a great shop with a great shoe and clothing selection. They carry a lot of Eileen Fisher clothing which is unbelievably expensive and doesn't wear or last Any better or longer than things that are $50.00 -$100.00 cheaper. With that said they have amazing sales on their clothing and on high end quality shoes. They also have some real nice handbags. The customer service can be amazing and then also not great. It depends on who you get. read more

I love this store! I have been shopping here since 1998 and I have always received the most considerate and helpful service. The changing rooms are spacious and private, and they have a great selection of organic and earth friendly clothing. At a wide range of prices. The styles are timeless also, so I can always find something nice on the sale rack too. The style is classic contemporary comfort and look appropriate for age 20's-80's depending on how you put the outfits together; so you don't have to worry about the clothes looking to old or too young like you might with some other stores in town. When ever I am looking for a specific item, the sales person continues to bring me appropriate choices until I find what works. Sometimes, I even have two people helping me at once!! I wear a very petite size, and occasionally they are out of my size, so they order it for me and it arrives in just a few days. They also have great accessories, so its easy to come away with a complete outfit. The price range is great!! They carry Eileen Fisher, Michael Stars, Nick and Zoe, XCVI and great comfort shoes. It's the kind of comfortable clothes you can wear anywhere--especially in Ashland. Also, they have the best selection of Birkenstocks in town!! In my experience the sales people are very down to earth and accommodating. The store has a nice protocol where they hand write all the receipts and take the clothing tags off for you--which I love!! The store has rush hours like a restaurant. Sometimes I go in and have the store to myself and other times its packed with customers. I may have to wait a minute or two for the customer ahead of me but its never more than a moment and everyone is so nice. I always look forward to shopping there and I always find what I am looking for--plus a little extra :-). I love shopping there! It's so much easier than getting something online or driving to medford. P.S. I am sorry about what happened to the women in some of those other reviews, but I always go in to the store with my 6 and 8 year old girls and they have been treated very sweetly by the personnel and have also used the restroom there several times while I was shopping, with no difficulty. read more

Went back for another pair of shoes--cute pink Dansko sandals! Have to thank the sales folks there for all their help again. I love that they aren't pushy and in-your-face about making a sale. They gave me time to decide and some helpful suggestions when I needed them. It's my favorite place to buy shoes in Ashland. I also love that they carry clothing made of real fabrics, like cotton and silk. read more

I truly enjoy shopping in this store. It is like an old fashioned emporium for women. The building itself lends much of the atmosphere, but I have found the saleswomen to always be very friendly and helpful but not overly aggressive, which I always appreciate when shopping. They have a great selection of high quality shoes and clothing--things that I know I will own for years. read more

Simply a great store. I have shopped in this store for many years. It is the main place where I purchase clothing in the Rogue Valley. I am a 50 year old woman, and not a size 2. The clothing here is comfortable, fashionable, flattering and of excellent quality. I can always find something here that fits my needs. I get excellent customer service from Ashley and Natalia and I feel safe trusting their opinion - which truly is a blessing when you are searching for jeans! Both of them have gone out of their way to help me (including one time staying late to help me find something before I left the next day on a trip.) They have a huge, comfortable shoe selection and are the only store in our area that carries Eileen Fisher and they have a large selection. read more

I live in Ashland. On June 29 a friend visiting from out of town and I spent nearly an hour in this store, trying on clothes, and not once did the two young women working that day offer any assistance whatsoever. They spent most of their time behind the counter....talking, laughing, and looking at magazines. Toward the end of our time there, my friend actually felt that they were making fun of her/us (behind our backs, of course). When I went to the counter to pay for clothes (several hundred dollars' worth, making this entire incident even more egregious) I asked what they were laughing about. They said something about an issue with a previous customer (um, girls, you just admitted that you make fun of your customers). In any case, my friend said that if she owned the store she would have fired them both on the spot. I am generally easy to please, but I truly cannot comprehend how the store owner/manager allows this sort of behavior to occur in the first place, let alone to continue (obviously I am not the first person to comment on the poor customer service). I believe strongly in supporting local businesses, but this store has lost both my respect and future business. My sister is coming to Ashland soon and needless to say, we will not be shopping at Earthly Goods. read more
