And after a short while, I assured her that she should take all the time she wanted and that in the meantime I would wander around downtown. Gayle looks pretty fabulous in most everything she wears, so I wasn't worried about having to validate any of her wise choices. However, she does need to take me shopping, because perhaps on a few levels, I don't have a clue. From my perspective, Earthly Goods is a very attractive store that consists of a main floor and 2 mezzanine areas. There were also a couple of nice "male seats" available along with reading material. Gayle liked the selection, along with many of the styles and how they looked on her. However, she was not quite ready to "pull the trigger" on any of her choices. I have a strong hunch that we'll be back.

Big Mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now." I also had a two year old in tow. The bathroom policy is the stores, I think, and not the salespersons. I have tried to supporth this local business even though many people I know will not shop there because of the salespeoples snarky and condescending attitudes towards people they think are "tourists". I will not be shopping there anymore. Everything there can be found online. I think many people will follow my lead based on the huge response the post above received on Facebook.

Today when I went to Kixx, I was excited to be looking for an outfit to wear to a family wedding . My friend and I were not welcomed or apparently noticed when we entered. The only other costumer in the store was receiving stellar customer service - attention, praise and enthusiasm - from all three store employees. I was there for over 30 minutes. During that time, I was essentially left to my own devices to search out and try on clothing options. I received no assistance unless I asked a specific question. I felt disregarded. I did eventually find a blouse and jacket that I really liked. However, I did have to pause and give serious consideration as to whether I wanted to spend my money where I was clearly not appreciated as a customer. I decided to go ahead with my $200 purchase, but did not feel at all good about it. What was intended to be a fun shopping experience ended as a disappointment. I will not return to Kixx and would not recommend them to anyone.

Chris was attentive to my needs and I appreciated the fact he was focusing on what I needed, not trying to force sell me anything he can in the store. I ended up buying a really nice 4th of july inspired button down shirt, some hair products, soap and candles, and an amazing filson leather belt that's made in seattle! I am glad i found this spot. A LOT of jeans sizes 0-6. A decent selection for jeans size 6-14 and several racks for "plus sizes". Not a great variety of men's clothing. It's there, but slim pickin's. It's worth a visit just to check out the constantly changing inventory; new arrivals on the front racks. It feels better buying previously purchased clothing vs buying new and better for the environment too!! Today was a sale "buy 5 items, get 20% off your total" I'm a fan :D

I was able to find a device that had been eluding me for weeks: a spiralizer large enough to handle the stupid huge zucchini that my garden churns out every year, and finally, I found success here! I've seen less selection of cooking doo-dads at big box stores, even those that specialize in culinary contraptions. Now, I'm going to have to pray there's a Paddington Station closer to home when I'm looking for the next gadget, or I'll be making frequent trips to Ashland. My wife had similar success, leaving with a dress for herself and our daughter, as well as a couple of cute flower rings. The selection here is almost overwhelming, but if you're like me, and at least *try* to avoid buying everything on Amazon these days, skip the big box stores, and make a stop at Paddington Station. Leela suggested a lot of items with an eye toward what I was wearing. I'm kind of like a cat about new things: at first I think, "No way," but after I've had some time to (figuratively) pace back and forth staring at something, I'll often say, "Why not?" I found some amazing pieces thanks to Leela's willingness to let me go through my process and to not give up on me, and she never ever pushed me. Her philosophy is that Outback in the Temple of Venus is a place where women can go to be heard and seen and cared for and listened to, and also they sell clothes. I felt totally comfortable with her. I was the only customer for most of the time I was there, and we chatted nonstop. I was there until closing time and she never rushed me. They have items from $10 to $300+, and sizes from XS to 3X. Nice mix of natural fibers and synthetics. I would go back there in a heartbeat and look forward to making it a regular stop on my trips to Ashland.
