It's great that there are dog parks here but the experience is a little weird. The large dog park was closed and there were lots of people around walking dogsvin the regular park, but no one in the small dog park. There are water foundations with fountains at floor level for dogs, but they shoot out so far the water doesn't go into the bowl, in fact, it squirts the waiting dog in the face. There are curbs along the driveways that say no parking but everyone seems to park there instead of in the parking lot. Adult soccer games were going on so there were groups of adults hanging out by their cars on the street, it seemed like quite the party going on in the middle of the day. Overall, it seems like this park has a lot of potential, but it needs some tweaks to be running properly. Best part, there was a cool butterfly garden near the dog park area! read more

One of my favorite parks in southeastern LA. It's a beautiful green spot that is fairly well-maintained. There's always people out in the early mornings and a great place to walk and feel safe. I came out on a Friday morning while visiting family nearby and I saw lots of people walking and maintenance screws cleaning up trash. Met up with a few coworkers here. Nice park with great walk ways, lagoon and several species of animals including, ducks, birds and squirrels. There are several trees and a recreational center. Animo Middle, High School and College Prep are located on grounds. read more

I live at this park. Not literally, but I mean I'm there every day. It's where I walk my dog, it's where I take my daughter so she can nap in the stroller. I'm told it used to be a little rough and tumble, but the County renovated it and it gets patrolled a lot. I've never felt in danger there. There's a dirt track around one of the lakes and a sidewalk that goes around the whole park. There are areas on the El Segundo Blvd side that have soccer fields and there's a second track with exercise equipment around the perimeter. It's a good looking park and it's big enough to freshen the air. There's a dog park on the El Segundo Blvd side as well. read more

Big park Ample parking Private rooms inside for parties (I visited for a baby shower) that have air conditioning for the hotter days. This day I visited, there were about 35 young kids in bikes that were riding through the playground where little kids were playing. One cyclist ran over/ into a little kid and said, "well they need to stay outta the way". completely unacceptable. He was without remorse or care. They're didn't seem to be any authority figures around to take care of these young teen & preteen cyclist that were riding on pedestrian pathways. It was a recipe for disaster. The lake looked peaceful and clean from what I could see. The young adults working the front desk were helpful in directing you to the correct room for the correct party. read more

So excited havingHollywood build habitat for humanity event here at the Earvin Magic Johnson Park in Compton! The venue is beautiful with lots of parking. I love the way they set it up. Our soccer team has been practicing at this park for almost a year, today they came up to us to say we need a permit and insurance to play soccer in the park. If our kids can't play in the park where can they? We need a permit to play and get told we can't practice here anymore but they don't need a permit or get told anything for smoking marijuana and drinking beer and liquor in the parking lots. Great dog park! Love that they have a small and big dog section. Also perfect to go on walks right by the big lake. Don't really recommend picnics here just because there is a lot of duck poop on the grass. read more

I love coming to this park. They did a wonderful job with all the renovations. New exercise machines are up but still have the Orange meeting around them, wondering when they'll remove that, it's been a few weeks already. Restrooms are a hit or miss here. Some are clean without paper them some are filthy with paper..... not sure how often they clean these. People are good here about social distancing. They built a new dog park; they still haven't opened that section yet, I'm excited for that. The new Parking lots are very nice, they close the gates at 8:30pm and closed on Sundays. read more

I only went to the area with the ducks and it was horrible. There were dead ducks just in the water and multiple birds that look sick or badly injured. One duck was being held down by another duck and his head was being pecked and his leg was broken. People should be checking on the wildlife. It made the kids sad and it was our first experience. read more

The room we rented for our friends bridal shower was beautiful, the view was great, the was beautiful and calming

The park is not clean, and duck, and geese poop all over the park, and sometimes dog poop. Algae on the ground where the water comes up out the ground my grand kids and other kids has been slipping and falling. Play area for the kids is filthy. Magic Johnson's name is on this park smh. No basketball courts or gym, smh We should've had a say in putting lakes in that park. Not long when the park was built and opened my brother was on drugs jumped in the lake drowned in the lake, others has also drowned in the lake at that park. read more

Splash pad is horrible. It looks like it was meant for 3 years old and under. Playground area is dirty and the amount of feces from the ducks are the trails is horrible. read more

Has been fixed up really nice. They just opened up a dog park section and more to come. My family and I like going to walk there. They have a jogging path, a paved path, and a very beautiful dirt path where you can smell the basil plants. Picnic areas are nice as well. read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The park has been completely renovated, upgraded play ground for the little ones, a beautiful rec hall, clean and sanitized bathrooms, clean and safe park. This is a major upgrade and they are continuing to add more things for the neighbor children to partake in. Way to go! read more

I LOVE this park!! I walk there every morning with my white wolf. He likes to wade in the flowing stream. 2 big lakes and wetland environment. I go in the morning when its cool. We walk off trail so its alittle more exerting.....work out equipment along the walk trail and a new dog park not opened yet. Seems safe but is anywhere safe anymore? I got in a fight with moron who let his husky kill the geese. I brought my wolf close to him and if he didnt leave i would have the wolf tear hiss stupid ass up. And he said; whats the problem? There just stupid birds. I ordered him to leadh dog. He reluctantly did so. The bathrooms needcwork and there should a guard at the womens restroom..,lots of birds and wildlife. read more

I absolutely love this park, definitely one of the nicer parks I have ever visited and I just love how peaceful and calm everything is--the lakes are so beautiful. Everything is just so nice and I'm definitely going to be going more often and I'd recommend it here for anyone in the area. Great spot to go to if you enjoy walking like I do! read more

Dog Park is now open!!!! This is the biggest dog park I've been to and I've been to a few. Bluff Creek, Boneyard, Signal Hill, El Segundo. This park is so beautiful and much needed in our community. Extremely grateful and will do my part to keep it clean and take care of it. read more

This park offers a good walking path. I've been coming for a few weeks now and I'm wondering what took me so long. My husband has walked he for a few years and I'm just now getting on board. With that said, I've been here all of two minutes and I ready to tell people that their dogs must be on leashes and ask if they've brought their pooper scooper to clean up after their dogs! It's enough to mind your step around the path to miss stepping in the ducks poop, but hey, they live there. Also, people should really keep their kids close. I've witnessed children down by the lake unsupervised and that's terribly unsafe. You will also find different activity stations along the path to aiding your exercise routine. I've never had to use the restrooms, but I thought no they close them at 6:00pm. I most enjoy walking in the morning and breathing the fresh morning air. Overall the park is pretty clean and safe. I would recommend you try the walking path and your free to run or ride a bike as well. read more

This park has a couple of goods and bad's . Pros. The park is very big and it makes it great for walking and taking a long jog or run . There are also a lot of work out stations to stop at . The park also has a lot of parking lots and even street parking as well . There is a huge playground for the kids and slot of corn man with Ice's go there during the day .there are slot of ducks and a huge man made lake for you to relax and enjoy on the grass . There are also a lot of benches and BBQ locations to have a nice little party for the kids there or just BBQ with the fan . Cons. The place is run down it needs some serious clean up and maintenance . There is a lot of graffiti around the park (due to the area were the park is located). The restrooms are never clean from all of the times I have been here I have not found it in descent condition . There is a lot of drinking and smoking happening at this park so keep your kids close . The soccer fields here are made of small rocks and dirt and no cops are ever present in the area as a couple of times I seen fight break out or groups of people up to no good . read more

Came for some business in the area and stumbled upon this lovely patch of grass. Turns out to be the Magic Johnson Park. It's so nice and quiet especially for a Saturday afternoon! As I walk around to get a better view of my lush, green surroundings I found the action. Local little league soccer/futbol games going on. People smiling and enjoying their family time has me reminiscing of my childhood and all the fond memories of running around frolicking with my loved ones. A great recommendation for a picnic spot if there ever was one. read more

The fam bam been coming here for years since it was Willowbrook Park for occasional Holidays...Celebrations...and the like. I cant give this park 5 stars because its not. The park actually went down hill over the years especially since the emergence of dog walkers(clean up your dogs boo boo people). Cool park. Has two tracks, one is about 1.3 miles long, the other I'm not sure but I believe its 2/3 of a mile or so. Park hours are from sunrise to sunset but you can find people beginning their walks/jog as early as 4-5am. Ducks, geese and the calming sound of chirping birdies in and around the lake. As always, be aware of your surroundings. I think the overall safety while you're in the park has improved but if you can take a buddy, that would be recommended if you're an early/late bird. 4 stars bc I've noticed nothing is being done about the building smell of bird/duck/geese feces near the bridge. Nice park to go walking/jogging at. Lake with ducks & geese. Lots of bird poop. They really need to work on making the grass better. Lots of dying grass. And the bird poop can be quite smelly sometimes. This park is huge. Sometimes it's 3 or more soccer games going on at the sametime. Other than that it's a cool park. I love this park. During the time the park was called Willowbrook, I had so many great memories with my Grandparents, uncles and mostly my dad around the late 80s and early 90s.
