I'm super picky about my son's hair especially his lineup and this place did a great job on his hair. My son is full black with thick 4C hair. He got a high fade I believe?(his dad took him). When covid first hit a few years ago I started growing my hair out. As someone who has always kept his hair short I wasn't sure how long I wanted to let it grow, but the longer it got the more I more began to like it. Much more maintenance for sure, but I kinda liked the way it looked on me. Which was a big change because ever since I was younger I've never really liked my hair. I could never quite get it the way I wanted and more or less cut it short by default. So after wearing it long/tying in a bun for a couple years, I got to a point where I wanted to do something with it to clean it up, but didn't wanna cut it or take any of the length off. I knew kinda in the back of my mind what I had envisioned, but wasn't exactly sure what it was called, plus I was nervous. I didn't wanna risk messing it up and having to buzz it all off again. I just knew that I wanted the finished product to look something like WWE wrestler Roman Reigns, and I KNEW if I was ever going to do this, I didn't trust going to the local Super Cuts/Great Clips to get it done, I knew I was eventually ready I had to find a genuine barbershop. I started looking up local places to get some ideas, and realized not only was East 2 West Cutz one of the best rated in the area, but it was in the same shopping plaza as the Dunkin I'd occasionally grab coffee at, so it was super close. I went back and forth for a few more weeks as I was kinda unsure if I wanted to go through with it, but when I landed a new job this past summer I realized the time was now. On a whim I just decided to walk in one afternoon with no real expectations, and by pure chance I just so happened to get paired up with Gabe. By complete coincidence, Gabe had long curly hair just like myself. As we got to talking, not only did I find he's from the Bay Area where I used to go to college, but he's also a massive UFC and hip hop fan, so we just clicked right off the bat had a great convo in the process. I showed him a couple pictures of Roman I had pulled, and immediately he knew what I wanted. I told him I trust your judgement so whatever you feel is best just go ahead and do. What immediately stood out to me from day 1 with Gabe is his attention to detail. Never in my life had I ever experienced that during a haircut, it's always been kinda "rush you in rush you out" to get to the next client, but not with him. He spent well over an hour with me that day, combing out my hair with a fine-tooth comb, taking a few inches off the length, and the doing the fade/taper on the sides and back. The finished product was just as I had envisioned, I couldn't have been more satisfied with it. Since that day I've been stopping in regularly every few weeks to get the fade/taper again, as well as do my beard. And the vibe every time you come in is always on point. There's been times were multiple other barbers came up to me to say what up. The place just makes you feel welcome, and every barber/stylist seems talented in their own right. All in all, I couldn't recommended this place more. After all these years I finally have a haircut that I genuinely like, and I thank Gabe for bringing that vision to life. Andrew or Jesus are my GO-TO guys but honestly everyone in the shop has great hands. They educate eachother on cuts and stay up on allll trends. The spot is usually busy on weekends but I've gone on a Monday or Tuesday and had no wait. If you want something specific call the shop and ask. Good service, great hair cut for my son. Super clean and precise. I was able to call same day and get an appointment. When we got there the barber was ready to go and did a great job. I'm very meticulous when it comes to my son's hair cut. I've often had to show other barbers spots that were missed, or seen small cuts on my son's line up. Not the case here, not at all. Funny how I met many barbers in my life and I prefer to drive 25-45 minutes and pay $25+ and wait for the right barber even if there is 5 to 10 people in front of me. The owner Manny which I met back 7 years ago and still to this day I got to know more than just a barber or a friend but family. The haircuts are superb class A haircut. From the clean shape-ups to the perfect full even fades to the lined up beards and the awesome line designs. Any type of hair Manny can make you look like a superstar. And for the best results explain what you want because barbers can't read minds. Another thing, he observes for any imperfections and if there's any advice, he will recommend. The environment is great mixed race with funny personalities if there is any ladies or kids they tone down the from a guys hang out spot to a more interpersonal. The design was made to bring home here which is New York and Manny brought his east coast talent to the west and has overachieved his goals and continues to give great haircuts. All other barbers are great at their job too but as I traveled and learned that there is only a few barbers that can actually give the same excellence and consistency as these barbers here. I payed a visit to this barbershop and requested a low skin taper with 1/2 in. off the top. The right side of my head looks like the barber started the fade but never finished. I have a legit line on my head that gets worse as the hair grows back in which I find funny being that he spent about 10-15 minutes on that one side. The rest of the fade is decent. The top of my head is extremely uneven. Overall my cut took over an hour and I was really disappointed once I got home and saw that I wasted my time and money for a ridiculous cut. Manny, the owner, has been cutting my hair for about 5 years now, all the way up until i moved recently to the bay area. I followed him from shop, to shop, to school to shop and everywhere in between. He is hands down the single greatest barber I've had cut my hair. I wish that i could find a barber even half as good as he is up here, but i have yet to have any luck. I even flew down twice, a month before my wedding, base cut, and a week before my wedding to get my hair cut again, so it would be perfect. He takes his time and ensures that everyone that comes to him hops out of his chair and knows immediately that they will be a customer for life. I cannot speak for any other barber at the shop, but If his skill and attention to detail carry over to his hiring of other barbers, there is no chance you'll leave his shop unhappy. Just got my first haircut here. Cool shop, friendly barbers. They have a Nipsey Hussle mural up on the back wall so I felt at home. Shop was clean and looked to have been repainted on the inside not too long ago. I only needed a skin fade on my sides and the back of my head. No beard or hair taken off the top. I was under the impression that I was getting a basic cut ($25) which was posted on the wall. When he finished and I was ready to pay the basic cut price and a $5 tip as well, apparently the appointments are $40. So I was shocked because only the sides and the back were faded and I also received a line up. I did not question him on the price because I knew what the answer was going to consist of. (Covid, and current high demand of cuts) But how can that be the case for this shop if not a single person was wearing a mask! Honestly, I could care less about my barber wearing a mask but if my cut cost double because of the Virus thats going around, at least follow the damn protocol. They have temp gun at the door for show and a bottle of sanitizer if you feel you need it, but other than that business as usual. I honestly feel I got ripped off for just a skin fade that didn't involve taking the beard off/cleaning it up or anything to do with the top of my head. I am military so it's always hard to get a fresh cut from good barbers anywhere around a military base due to the fact that they know they'll always have customers cause we need cuts to be in regulation almost every week. Second time coming here first time the wait was very short considering it was on a busy Saturday and didn't know how good the barbers were. I signed in and Andrew gave me a legit cut, I took his card and knew I got a new barber. Second time around called ahead of time to let Andrew know I get off at 4 and should be at 5 and wait until his chair opens. Waited a hour (6pm) for the chair to open the whole time no interaction or acknowledgement of me waiting to get my haircut or wanting my business. Still decided to wait until Andrew's chair opened which it did and he decided to cut his son's hair before mine. Definitely take care of your kids 100%. But if I'm going to pay for a service at least me know the wait is going to be longer than expected and let me know instead of guessing what's going on and burning my time up. Heard about East 2 West from a friend who had the most insanely, precisioned line-up I have ever seen. His line-up practically was instigating my curiosity to ask where he got it and I was determined to find out. So being the kind friend that he is, he told me East 2 West, so I had to check it out. Now with me, I'm not really a haircut fanatic type of person. I'll just get a fade, BUT DON'T. TOUCH. THE. TOP! The women at Supercuts usually ask about cutting the top, I say no, then they say "How bout a 'Health Trim'". I say sure and *SWISPOOF* back to short hair.. That's probably the main issue with haircuts and the rest is history. So I step in East 2 West and was sat down by Danny. I asked for a Zero-Medium and he asks, "Anything on the top?" I say nope, and he goes to town. After everything is nicely faded, he asks about the top. "Are you sure?"
