Loud, aggressive, and completely out of control. At one point he got in another woman's face like he was ready to fight. Then he started yelling about being in a gang... sir, you're outside a hair shop in broad daylight, not in a movie. It was honestly embarrassing to watch and incredibly uncomfortable for everyone around. No haircut is worth dealing with that kind of behavior. We turned right around. And based on how the owner responds to reviews, I'm sure he'll have something disrespectful to say here too, which will just prove the point. Disclaimer- i actually called the shop (the individual seemed unhinged! No way I was going in there) to report this and I was told it was the owner who I saw acting a fool. lol

We can even pay ahead of time to make the visits go even smoother if we/you want. Donnell is super respectful and our talented barber! The shop has a cool vibe to it. And again like royalty is how Donnell treats all of his customers! His mentality is "good works deserve to be rewarded" and he says this in the most humblest of ways. The place is very clean and nicely decorated with a flair of Nola vibe. Donnell and crew are very inviting, and the shop is easy to find with lots of nearby parking options near Main street in Vista. I've had the pleasure of getting cuts from Donnell a few times now and he's nothing but pure professionalism, with a lot of knowledge and eager to help you understand what the best option is and why. I've never received this level of treatment at a barbershop. The warm towel treatment with facial massage is a nice bonus. Thanks Donnell. Looking forward for my next visit.

One thing I've noticed about Drew as compared to other barbers, is he always cares about the details, the little things. Other barbers want to rush it, and don't do basic stuff that I assumed all barbers did just because I was accustomed to Drew's meticulousness any time I got my haircut from him. I can honestly say Drew is responsible in some way for me dating so many SoCal baddies because he had my haircut looking fresh so I had the confidence to shoot my shot at girls out of my league! Also, Drew is a chill barber, one you actually can chat with. Some barbers I've experienced are either dead silent and not friendly, or they talk wayyy too much, but chatting with Drew was always good vibes. Quality work, cleanliness, cool vibes are the 3 main things I want in a barber and Drew checks all 3 boxes. James is his coowner is also good people. I've never gotten cut by him but I've seen his work and he's legit too. These guys, Drew and James were coming into my family's restaurant back in the day when I was in my early 20's and they always tipped well, were respectful and good vibes so you know they're good people too. Two solid guys running a great barbershop. I highly recommend.

I wanted a shop that understood their mixed curly hair, but I also wanted the experience to still be something they enjoyed. Haircuts have always been one of those little things the boys and I do together, and I didn't want it to suddenly feel like a chore. Because our schedule is usually packed, the first time we went to Catrins we took a chance and booked three different barbers at the same time. Somehow we went 3-for-3. Lance, Rebekah and Cass have all been awesome. They take the time to listen to what we want, they're great with my boys, and they've created a shop where everyone feels part of the conversation. A lot of times it turns into one big conversation across the whole shop instead of three separate haircuts, and my kids dig it. It's relaxed, funny, welcoming, and still easy to get in and out without turning a haircut into a two-hour event. Most importantly, they're really good at what they do. They've learned my boys' hair and consistently get their cuts right. I even brought Grandpa in when he was visiting and he walked out completely happy too, so apparently they've got every generation covered.
