The customer service is terrible. When you walk in, the receptionist/ front desk counter is so high that you can't see the representative behind the counter. The representative behind the counter doesn't acknowledge you until you walk up to the counter, not friendly at all, and no greeting at all. The receptionist has a nasty attitude, no smile, and looks like she hates her job. The other desk workers stay working and don't know how to greet as well, making you feel not welcomed. Also, the pricing for things are over priced. But, the price doesn't matter, I believe customer service matters most. I definitely will not be a return customer! read more

I went in today for a eye exam and the Dr told me she recommended daily contacts. I usually get monthly contacts and when I asked what is the price difference she said not that much but it is double the amount I normally pay. Now I need to get a new eye exam to get the correct lenses that I can afford and pay for it out of pocket since they billed my insurance. I ended up not even ordering glasses here because the ladies there were rushing me to find a pair of frames. So disappointing since I used to like this place. The glasses here are definitely overpriced. The woman who handles most of the insurance questions comes across as rude and unapproachable. She seems to create a tense environment, and it's noticeable that other staff members don't seem happy working around her. After my eye exam, I chose not to purchase any eyewear, and her demeanor changed immediately--unfriendly and visibly annoyed when I had follow-up questions. It made the experience uncomfortable. Customer service should be consistent and respectful, regardless of whether someone makes a purchase. read more

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to follow up on my previous email dated Sat, Feb 18, 9:46 PM regarding my request for replacement glasses due to a defect in the lenses. As a reminder, I purchased the glasses from your company in 2021, and after six months of use, a film layer on the lenses began to peel off, rendering the glasses unusable. I have not received a response from your company regarding my initial request for a replacement pair of glasses, and I am concerned about the lack of communication. As a loyal customer of your company, I trust that you take your customers' satisfaction seriously and will do everything in your power to resolve this issue. Worst experience I've had at an optometry! One of the woman there was rude and sarcastic when I asked her questions. Don't know her name. They are also very pushy. Sue pushed me to get glasses for myself even when I've used up my coverage for contacts and she pressured me to get a full year supply of contacts. I usually just get enough to use up my insurance coverage and get more online(you save a lot more). These people need to respect patients for their choices and stop being so pushy in selling. Their defense: "we r just informing you of your coverage". I know what my coverage is and now that you have informed me and there is no need to pressure! Sue showed her distasteful face when I said I would not get new frames for the kids and will just get new lenses for old glasses instead. We switched to another office in Newark and love the staff and doctors. They also charge less for contact lens check ups. So we r very happy now. read more

Came here with my cousin to get their frames adjusted. Not much of a wait. We were helped by a guy (wearing a hat). He was super nice and helpful throughout the whole process! Do you want over-priced and outdated fashion frames with horrible service? Come here. ***I saw the same exact glasses frame here for $200+ at Costco for $60, and at Costco I didn't have to deal with an annoying sales lady that graduated from a community college that claims to know about eyes. Been to this place multiple times because I wanted to look at options. Each time I've had horrible service, extremely rude and have no basic human decency skills (that's even though they're Chinese and I'm Chinese). The eye glasses frames look like they were made for 1990's fashion. And they surprise you when you checkout with random additional fees with no explanation (ontop of the frame and lens). Great place to go if you're into that stuff. Manager William, advice, you need to change your staff. The buying power of the demographic you sell frames to is going away year over year. If you want to appeal to new buyers you need staff that actually knows how to be a human. read more

I usually don't write reviews often, but I'm writing here to share my parent's experience because it is sickening and I refuse to let anyone be disrespected like they did. Both of my parents went here for a simple eye exam. The moment they sat down, they were continuously pressured into doing extra checkups such as dilation - even though they filled out the questionnaire claiming that they did not want it. When they refused everything besides the eye exam, the doctor resorted to guilt tripping; poking at medical history and claiming that they won't be liable for anything. Seriously? It's an eye exam. Figure out the prescription and move on. The rest of the 1* reviews are true. I can't believe I recommend my parents to this place. Absolute garbage customer service. read more

The doctor in this office doesn't take appointments for VSP WellVision eye exams if the patient doesn't want to purchase lens and frames from their shop. I called their office. They initially indicated that they have plenty of appointments available before the end of the year and had me confirmed with multiple options to choose from. After learning that I might not purchase lens or frames from their shop, they took back all the appointment times and said that no appointment for eye exams if not purchasing glasses. This is very rude and violating VSP's policies. A complaint is already filed with VSP to investigate their misconduct. Please avoid them as much as you can. Edit after owner's comment: I was clearly told that if I don't purchase glasses I don't get an appointment. Unfortunately I didn't record the phone call. But the representative who took the call checked my insurance and found that my benefit for glasses was already used. It was only the eye exam benefit that I didn't use. The process has been through 4 people, with unacceptable attitude and look so unfamiliar with their products price and procedures. I've gone there a couple of times before. Staff were very friendly. However, recently I went in for a regular check up and it was one of the worst doctor appointment I have ever been in. I waited for 45 minutes even though I came in at the time of the appointment. Once I met the doctor, I was amazed of how rude and unprofessional he was. If you hate your job so much, go do something else with your life. I for sure will never set foot in that place again, and will make sure that none of my friends ever go there either. TL;DR -- rude optometrist that pressures customers and takes advantage of them for money, incompetent staff, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. 0/10, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Do NOT come here if you want to have a positive -- or even neutral -- experience. When I came I was pressured into getting unnecessary and expensive exams because Dr. Lo would not stop insisting that I "needed" them (false, those exams were extraneous). The receptionists are incompetent and miscalculated my bill multiple times. My contacts were also very expensive in comparison to what I have paid for them in the past. When I called later to get a copy of my prescription, they failed to send it to me twice. I was only able to get my prescription the third time. The prescription that they gave me for my glasses was completely off -- I tried to use it to order new frames, and rather than correcting my vision, the prescription made things even worse and gave me the most painful headache. I emailed them asking about the issue with my glasses prescription and requested information (i.e. pupillary distance, etc.) that was notably missing from the prescription they gave me. I got a very rude response from Dr. Lo telling me not to order glasses online and essentially pointing fingers to Warby Parker for causing the issue (I highly doubt that). She also completely ignored my request for the missing information, and only responded after I sent a follow up email several days later. I will not be back again. What a mistake. read more

I've seen Dr. Lo off and on since I was in elementary school, and we have followed her all over the Bay Area in those years. Very knowledgeable and patient and provided great care for my whole family both contact lenses and glasses and our annual exams. Parking in this location is plentiful-except on weekends when it is free for all- plan accordingly. I used to find the front office staff in another of her offices a bit rude, but lately the people at desk and also optician have all been very helpful and pleasant. read more

Just want to post a little more information. I have been wearing for many years. All other prescriptions I got from other centers are good two years. The prescription I got from this center would be expired in one year. In case you need a new pair of glasses or prescription sunglasses in a year. You need to schedule an eye exam again. My wife bought a pair of eyeglasses from EBVC. About 24 hours later, an employee from this office called her and said that the price tag on the frames she purchased was incorrectly priced, and they wanted to know if it would be okay if they charged her another $100 for it. After mentioning how ridiculous she thought this request was, they continued to persist on why they should charge that extra hundred dollars. Their exact words were, "Well those ARE really expensive frames, you know. Another $100 would be fair for them." Needless to say we told them that charging us an additional $100 on top of the sticker price a WHOLE day after the transaction took place was ridiculous. My wife offered to return the entire purchase if they chose to charge another $100. If you buy from them, make the sure the price is agreed upon before you leave the store. read more

Let me just start off by saying that Dr. Eileen Lo is the greatest. I've gone to this place ever since I was a baby. Dr. Lo got me started with night contacts ever since second grade, and I've been able to maintain my eyes at around 150-200 degrees without the contacts despite how much time my generation spends on the Interent. My family has basically been going here ever since they moved to America, and we've never had a problem. The office is small, but how much waiting space do you really need? You'll find that the actual appointment rooms are quite spacious and quite equipped with optometrist related equipment. They've got hundreds of different frame options for glasses and the helpers there are really nice about adjusting the frames for the glasses. Dr. Lo is extremely attentive and helpful to her customers; she's always available whenever I have any questions about my contact lenses--that level of care and attention isn't something you can find easily anywhere else. tldr; such a fan; if you need an optometrist, get Dr. Lo read more

My insurance changed so I had to see a new optometrist and I have to say I'm glad it changed again so I don't have to come back here. Waited about an hour for my appointment which was a bummer but Dr Rebecca Lee was great and helpful. The staff, unfortunately, is where my experience did a 180. The lady who took my card and finalized the transaction for my glasses asked if I wanted to add some extra add ons and when I said no her face went sour and after handing me my receipt went straight to her phone. I asked when I could expect to finish my appointment as I had been told to wait as my eyes dilated while I pick some glasses and it had been about another 30-40 minutes and she ignored me completely. All in all took about 2 hours. And when my father went for his appointment a man at the front desk ignored him and when my father kept trying to get his attention the man told him that he was 'not normal'. This was his third time trying to get the proper prescription for his glasses and was later told by Dr Lo that if the new glasses don't work it doesn't matter that's the last time they'll be helping him. All in all, did not have a good time. My glasses work well and I like them but I could have honestly gone anywhere else for glasses of the same quality and with most likely better assistance but if you don't care about how you're assisted or wait time then this place will be fine. read more

I've been to this optometrists office for about 7 years now because it is close to my house and they speak my parents native language. Overall making an appointment there is okay I had to cancel my initial appointment and I didn't like the fact that their system would email me a reminder of my already cancelled appointment. That was confusing. I really like Rebecca, one of the staff there. She is very knowledgeable and I like her opinion on the frames she picked out for me. I love Dr. Jennifer Hsieh she is incredibly nice, sweet, efficient and thorough. So far she is the best optometrist I've ever had! Today I saw Dr. Man-Wa Lam. My dad really likes him. If I am allowed to give Dr. Eileen Lo 15 stars, I would. First of all, and most important of all, Dr. Lo is the best eye doctor I ever have met (I have been 4-eyes for nearly my whole life, I have gone thru a lot of doctors). She, very literally, saved my vision before I ever knew my vision was threatened. It turns out that I have got a fairly hard to detect bit of glaucoma, and if it weren't for Dr. Lo investing in her visual field machine (an extra testing procedure which I had never had before...), it may very well have gone undiagnosed until...well, I hate to think about that...so let's keep our happy face on, shall we? Secondly, her front ladies are all fabulous and they are like your favorite eyeglasses consultants that will tell it like it is. Amy there will spot the frames you should try (including ones you might never even consider), and will give her unabashed opinion--both good and bad. Then she'll figure out exactly how much my insurance (Vision Service Plan) covers, and she always makes sure I am getting the best value for my money. In short, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I won't hesitate to recommend my co-workers to come to here, including my boss. That tells you how confident I am with them. read more

Dr. Lo had been my Optometrist for the past 10+ years, and she had been the Optometrist for other family members/relatives for over 20+ years. She had been great! and very helpful. My bf also had been seeing Dr. Lo for a few years now, and he also likes her a lot. Dr. Lo offers a good selection of glasses frames, but also offers to order particular styles for us if we have something we like. She is open to and welcomes opinions and suggestions. Bf especially like a staff there (Joli), she was very nice and very helpful, and unlike some other staffs, she was not pushy, which make us more likely to want to order glasses/contact lens from there. read more

I have been going here for years now, and have always had a very positive experience. Dr. Lo is extremely professional and polite, and remembers details about my personal life, even when it's been a year since my last appointment. They are always able to get me a good deal on a years supply of contact lenses, and always give me details on how to get a rebate (so my years supply of contacts only costs me about $30). To top it off, the receptionists always give me a nice sample of supply of contact lens cleaning solution, and sample contacts. I really do enjoy coming here, and based on my positive experiences, would recommend it to anyone. read more

The store is very unprofessional. I purchased a branded frame with them for my daughter less than 6 months ago. During the sales they said all the repairs will be included as you are purchasing from our shop not online. We can get it done on the same day etc, etc. The frame was having manufacturing default. The manufacturer is ready to replace the glasses but East Bay Vision want to make money out of this opportunity. They even said that you can ask your child to wear the broken glasses ? Do you care about issues the customer is facing ? I paid them $300-500 for exam, frame, glasses. I could get better service from other stores/online. I will suggest keep yourself away from these frauds !!! read more

Me and my family was on vacation in USA. We were currently in Oakland and i had just ran out of my contact lenses. I had eyeglasses for a couple of years before but i really felt lenses were easier to handle. However i had used contact lenses for 2-3 months and and had this problem with my eye always itching when i put in the lens. We were just about to leave town and head for this amusement park "Fairyland" when i spotted the eye center. The kids and my wife had to wait in the car while i ran in to purchase some new lenses. I had used this brand Johnson&Johnson before. The lenses were fine but they always itched for 5-10 minutes after i put them in. However the staff was excellent swift, polite and professional are only a few of the positive things i have to say about them. I came in, got a new box of lenses (this time monthly lenses but from the same brand). I mentioned i had this issue while applying the lenses. He knew exactly what i meant and gave me this soothing liquid similar to eye drops. I walked out of there smiling. I will definitely return to East Bay Vision Center and i highly recommend it. read more
