Must be a nice one to have in the Windham area. Mainly a movie-plex, with a few stores and eateries. Although small, they have right about everything: Payless for shoes, a mattress store, a haircut salon, dollar tree, dress barn, a liquor shop,indoor playground(Quester's way) and the best- they have TJ Max too. Plenty of parking. They have Applebees in the same complex for when you've worked up an appetite after all the shopping. Not a place I would drive all the way to, but good one if you're in the vicinity. read more

They are barely worth being called a mall. In the quiet corner of Connecticut, just outside Willimantic and 10 minutes from UConn, lies the East Brook Mall. It's more of an indoor strip center than anything. Half of the tenants inside have little to no name recognition and the other stores come and go. If it wasn't for Kohl's and TJMaxx, there would be almost no reason to come here. The inside feels so empty and lonely, like a sad attempt at a small-town mall in the 1980's. East Brook tried hands at opening a "movie theatre," but the idea flopped. The tiny movie rooms (the most appropriate description) shy in comparison to typical theaters. The Hoot, a seemingly eternal and curiously interesting shoppe in the 1990's, moved out of East Brook and across the street a number of years ago. RadioShack is closing and since traffic is so low, they will be one of the last RadioShacks in early 2015 to close. Even after sitting at 60-80% off for days, merchandise barely seems to be moving here. Their "mall" hours on Sunday are just 12-5. At least you'll rarely have trouble finding parking here. I'm not sure why you'd come here unless you live near the area though. If you want a real mall experience, drive up to Buckland in Manchester. You won't find it at East Brook. read more

My favorite aspects about the mall are Mansfield Movieplex with reclining seats, Kohl's, Questers' Way Cafe with delicious smoothies, Applebee's and Michael's. However, there are several empty retail spaces, about 25% of the interior Mall total number of spaces are empty. I miss Hallmark, the book store FYE, JC Penney and The Hoot which used to be in the mall. The Mall needs more non retail options like a bowling alley, Dave and Busters or an indoor mini golf so they can compete with Storrs Center which has a number of restaurants and retail stores only 15 minutes away. read more

I'm thinking that, at some point, this mall had a lot more going on than it does now. There's a Wal-Mart and Kohl's, probably the only two redeeming qualities to the shopping center -- and maybe, just maybe, the Applebee's out in the parking lot. But once you're in the mall? It's a sad relic of a small town. There are a lot of shuddered storefronts, chains you didn't even know still existed, and pretty much low-level shopping opportunities. You can walk the mall in about five minutes, so don't expect a big shopping excursion. You'd be better to pass it up all together and head out to Manchester to a REAL mall. read more

This mall is very small there is not much to choose from. The only reason I go there is because Asian Bistro is inside and this restaurant rocks. T.J. Maxx is in that plaza and there I do shop once in a while, I think this is the best store in Willimantic. read more

The East Brook Mall is a den of sin. Kids everywhere, bad lighting, off-brand stores and gives the appearance of being unkempt. The Hoot was once my favorite store in EBM, until it moved out of the mall (thank goodness). The carpet in JCPenny is rotten looking, the Papa Ginos is where every high school student in a 10 mile radius hangs out for the unlimited pizza night. Drive the extra half hour to Manchester for a quality shopping experience, or buy local and just avoid EBM at all costs. read more

Without a doubt the worst mall I have ever been to. Period. I walked in, walked down the hall, circled through Kohl's and then left. If there was something redeeming about the mall itself NOT the surrounding businesses (TJMaxx, etc) I couldn't find it.) It was moderately interesting watching everyone work out, as the gym in the mall can be seen from every angle due to the fact that every wall to it was glass. read more

I have to say, after 25 years when I used to live in the area, this so called 'mall' has not changed except for some of the stores. The basic structure of the mall still seems like your in the 80's...I don't know which management company owns this mall but clearly they do not care about fixing it up at all. The few times I've had to go there with with, foot traffic is extremely slow, and there is No Reason to go there. If I wanna go to Khols, I'll drive back to Manchester. Thank you very much. I'm very dissapointed in the owners of East Brook Mall. How about a remake, like they did in Meriden, Ct? Yes, it costs millions of dollars, but ask yourself the question, do you wanna stay in business for another 25 years and attract big name brands or go bankrupt? In Conclusion, avoid this area. Four years have past since my last review so here's an update. The mall is still very clean but many stores have vacated. In addition to FYE and Walden Books J C Penney, Radio Shack, The Children Place, TD Bank North, the coffee kiosk,and a long time local jewelry store are gone. Hallmark is currently holding a going out of business sale. Some of these retailers are no longer in existence while others are closing many other locations. With these departures a new Dress Barn, a Dollar Tree, a gym and a children's activity center have opened. Unfortunately, the two stores have no mall access while the gym and activity center are not a "retail" destination. In addition, there were attempt to open a variety store and a gift shop which was a cross between The Hoot and a Crate and Barrel. Both businesses have since closed. In summary, with the closing of the many specialty shops East Brook seems more of a multi purpose shopping center rather than a traditional mall. Still, many great features remain. One, having a GNC store directly across the hall from a gym is convenient. Two, while Kohls is no Sage Allen having a fully stocked department store along with a TJ Maxx gives local shoppers some good choices in apparel and home goods. Finally, the movie theater and eateries remain open P.S. Hint. With the large vacant spaces near Kohl's an Old Navy Store in the mall might increase both foot traffic and business. read more

This mall is a reminder of how sad a small town can be. Most stores have closed so expect to come here if you want to watch a movie or go out to eat. Not much shopping to do. I liked this mall when The Hoot used to be here but they moved across the street (next to The Salvation Army is). read more

Poor East Brook Mall - it gets such a bad rap. This mall is fine for what it is - a convenient and easily accessible local shopping facility. Don't plan a full day of shopping here, but for those of us who live locally, this place serves its purpose. Obviously it doesn't offer the options that Manchester does, but you also don't have to count on the hassle of traffic like you do in Manchester. There's no wal-mart here... 'Anchor' stores are Kohl's, a very small JCPenney and a TJ Maxx. There's also a bank, jeweler, Hallmark store, a few urban/sports clothing/shoe stores, GNC, a ladies' accessory shop, a hairdresser, Children's Place, a toy store, a gym and a Sleepy's. The food selections are minimal too - Asian Bistro, Subway, Papa Gino's and some snack vendors. read more

They've made a lot of improvements to this mall. Theres a gym now 24/7 with GNC right across. And something for the whole family. While mom gets her nails or hair done dad and the kids can go grab a bit to eat ( Subway or Papa Johns) or go to Gamestop or Arcade. Or take the kids down the street to Lauter Park. And they have some of the major stores like Kohl's, JC Penny, Children's Place, Famous Footwear, Payless Shoes, Olympic Sports, Eblens (thats always hot with the teenagers) Clair's ( which my daughter can't go by without asking for something) Radio Shack, Borders, TJ Max ,Mansfield Movie Plex and Td Bank, etc... And now Old Navy is coming in soon! And more to come. After all this shopping eat at Applebees ( my personal favorite) Asian Bistro or McDonald's.Or have a picnic at the park down the street. And more surrounding stores, super markets and doctors offices near by. All of this without leaving town and wasting gas and time and fighting the crowds and traffic. And still stay on schedule. Minuscule compared to more popular malls such as Holyoke Mall and Buckland Hills Mall. Small specialty stores. There is a small fitness center inside. A short distance away from UCONN. Not much here, but T.J. Maxx makes up for it. read more
