I love my VW Atlas Cross Sport and after owning it 3 weeks, I'm still teaching myself how to open and close the sunroof, pop the trunk and how to use cruise control. The cooling system and the radio still has the former lease holders name on it, both are complicated to operate with technological upgrades, . It took over 4 long hours to make this purchase with a check - no loan. The salesman showed me a few things quickly and most of the time we spent was waiting. I was moved into one chair after another until I sat waiting, in every chair in the dealership. My husband and I got into my VW Tiguan, as I was about to start the engine, the manager came out and had us come back in. Guess what, more waiting. I have severe back pain and I was in agony and told the salesman, George, but we still had to wait for them to sign more papers, wash the car and fill the tank, which they never did. I am still recovering from that day, it was physically and emotionally draining. I don't know how to pop open the trunk yet, but I'll figure it out. The car is a beauty, but the experience was traumatic. George called today and wants me to return for a "second delivery", what the heck is that? He wants me to go over all the things he neglected to teach me the first time. I told him I left in pain and he said he knows what pain is like. I wanted to buy a car, get instructed on all the upgrades and then go home. If George wants a second delivery, he can come to my home at my convenience. As I said, I love the vehicle, but he neglected me as a customer and for that reason, I removed stars. read more

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding My Atlas Lease Experience - Request for Resolution To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent experience leasing a Volkswagen Atlas and the subsequent service I received. I want to be very clear: based on what I have been through, I would not recommend leasing or buying an Atlas. When I initially leased the Atlas, the sales process was excellent. DC, my salesman, was a gentleman and provided outstanding service. Unfortunately, the positive experience ended the moment I picked up the vehicle. Immediately after leaving the dealership and driving to New York, I noticed an issue with the alignment as well as a noise coming from the right front axle area when the vehicle was placed into gear. I brought the vehicle to a local dealer on Long Island, where they discovered an axle leak and excessive play. Although the axle was replaced, I was informed that VW would not cover the alignment--despite the vehicle having only 758 miles on it. When I returned home to South Carolina, East Coast VW corrected the alignment, but I continued to experience multiple issues, including: Noise when shifting into gear Noticeable wind noise The transmission downshifting on its own when hot on the highway I left the vehicle with East Coast VW for a week and was given a Jetta loaner, which I appreciated. However, after inspection, I was told that nothing further could be done about the transmission noise or wind noise. I escalated the matter to VW Corporate several times, but unfortunately received no meaningful assistance. When I returned the car again, East Coast kept it for six days. I was then told the wind noise stopped only after they taped off the grill, and that the transmission noise was "normal," and could not be addressed. As someone who was a service manager for 35 years and has built engines and transmissions myself, I can assure you I understand how vehicles work--and these issues are NOT normal. Additionally, my interactions with Paul were disappointing. Although he is a nice person, he was snippy and dismissive, and I felt he did not advocate for me as a service manager should. I repeatedly asked for involvement from a factory representative or field engineer and was told none existed--something I know to be untrue. Every manufacturer has both. I then met with a gentleman in the sales department who identified himself as the owner. He stated he would speak with the factory and would contact me by Friday, especially since I needed the car for a medical appointment in New York in four days. I never received that call. While my salesman reached out and apologized, the "solution" offered was unacceptable: trading me into a Tiguan for the same lease payment as my $56,000 Atlas, with no money out of pocket. That is a significantly lesser vehicle for the same cost. This is not a resolution--it is an insult. I am not someone who enjoys writing complaints, but at this point I feel my patience and kindness have been taken advantage of. This entire situation has been poorly handled and reflects extremely poorly on both the dealership and Volkswagen. I have owned four Volkswagens, and until now never experienced anything like this. I can confidently say that Toyota or Lexus would never have allowed an issue like this to continue unresolved. This situation is a disgrace, and I am requesting that Volkswagen and the dealership take this matter seriously and work with me toward a proper, fair resolution. These guys are the best! I was tooling down Hwy. 17 when my dashboard warning system blinked "low pressure warning". It scared me. I've only had this car a year, and I'm getting used to all the warning systems on it. I pulled in to East Coast Volkswagen And told them the problem and they fixed it with no problem. On vacation and my VW needed servicing. I had an appointment but got there early and they took me right in and started the work. The waiting area was clean and comfortable. They had snacks, bottled water, and coffee/tea for customers. The service advisor was very pleasant and every single employee that I came in contact with spoke. They have a cute little area by the parts department that sells VW merchandise. I got a nice VW T-shirt and they threw in a pair of sunglasses that was part of a promotion with any purchase. I had my Volkswagen towed there because I lost my key. They told me they needed to order a new key and would take anywhere from 2 days to two weeks. The key came in and I never heard from them. I called and was abruptly spoken to. They told me they couldn't get the key programmed and would have to do a diagnostic which would cost me $500. Really to do a 10 min diagnostic. Than proceeded to tell me they would not even give me a rental, let me preface I have a special needs child that requires me to have a car just in case and I am also disabled. I relayed this message to them and they were extremely nasty and told me it would be $1500 for a new ignition piece and they are not guaranteeing this would work and than hung up on me. They have been nasty lying and stealing. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They take advantage of you because you are female and depend on there trust. read more

I've read plenty of East Coast reviews often siting the same comments. Service Department management who work off of commission based incentives are out to screw the customer for every unnecessary item. I was recently quoted $4800 for two calipers and a shifter cable replacement. Needless to say ALL needed items were replaced for $495. The so called caliper issue was a $18 collapsed break line and tbe shifter cable cost me $165 at Auto Zone. read more

my experience was awefull after they called and said there was a recall on airbag I took it in because the woman said I was putting my life at risk my husband asked them to check the back latch as it was clicking. we got an itemized list of about 2000, for all these little things 45 wiper blade and for the latch it said over 450 they said they have to send it to body shop adjust the hood and remove the bumper so I text just do the recall , then apparently they talk to my husband and said they could just do the latch when I pick it up the bill was 220. for the part and 330.for the labor needless to say I would have dealt with the noise. I feel like I was takin advantage of and will never bother with them again oh and when I get in my car it now says airbag faulty . isn't that something read more

We are down in Garden City visiting from Charlotte and one morning the check tire light came on. It would not hold air so I called East Coat VW and they said to bring it in and they'd take a look at it. David greeted us as we pulled in and told us they would take a look at it and take care of us. While expecting the worst (a long wait in a car dealer while they located a matching tire while on vacation), David came out and said they were able to locate a nail in the tire and repaired it immediately. Only about an hour from start to finish, and they even washed the car! Great service and it was so nice to be taken care of away from home! Highly recommend these folks! read more

They are absolutely the worst dealer I have ever experienced... First they couldn't match the deal Alexandra Volkswagen gave me, however that isn't even the biggest complaint. I finally bought my car (not from them) and took it in because of a warranty item that was defected. (I don't live in Alexandra and they are the dealer closest). After all they wanted to charge me 52 bucks for a piece that is covered under warranty. Needless to say I called volkswagen of American and now they are pending investigation and I will now take my car to Bob king VW 2 hours away. read more

These guys are total game players. Don't be fooled by their nice personalities. They make you feel comfortable but in truth they are playing all kinds of games. They ask you to sign to dedicate that you will buy from them before they even give you terms, rates, price of the car, anything. We had a car picked out that they were working on. I don't think we were approved for the lease but instead of telling us that , he told us to come down and sign that we would only do business with him. That meant even if we weren't approved he was asking us to give up our negotiating power early. A true used car tactic. I think he saw we were also working with the Wilmington vw folks from our credit inquiry. Instead of giving us their best price and terms, they just wanted to be slimy. Stay away or go to Wilmington VW, those guys are true professionals with no haggle pricing. They got us approved with a little money down, with not great scores. read more

People at the dealer are nice but they just don't want to deal with issues that would become defective or not work within VW spec due to high mileage. We put 30,000 miles a year on our Passat TDI SE. Around 32,000 We noticed the passenger low beam going through bulbs every 2,000 miles. The service department treated us like we were nuts! Clearly there was no problem because nobody else has had that problem (keep in mind 99% of the other passats in the area probably only had around 7k-14k miles) but guess what!?! About 68k miles There was a recall/campaign on the passenger side electrical system wiring harness. Who is crazy now. Idiots! Now we are getting the run around with the driver side AC blowing hot air for up to 2 minutes occasionally. The service guy said to solve the problem we have to keep it off AUTO. SERIOUSLY!?! Took it back again and they said they had to add freon to the system. Freon was eliminated from vehicles years ago and it's a closed system. If they have to add, then there is a leak. Well it's still blowing hot air from time to time. Just fix it already. Driving to another dealer for the 100k service. I'm done with Audi and VW. read more

In early August,My son purchased a used 2009 GLI at the dealership for around $9700. They took his 2002 Chevy Impala as a trade for almost nothing around $700 .They told him the Chevy was really no good.Anyway they he and his Grandmother bought the GLI and a warranty.My son is 17 and never really drove standard so needless to say he needed to learn.The very next day the car wont shift ,my mom calls the dealership they say it was his fault because he wasn't a trained driver.It would of been nice if they cared about that before they sold him the car.Now the dealership has the GLI listed as a mechanics special and the 2002 Chevy Impala that was no good listed for $5100.I am in another state Ifeel this Dealership took advantage of a kid and his grandmother. read more

I found them to be honest in the assessment of what needed to be done, avoiding unnecessary maintenance and repairs. Horrible experience!!!!!! Go anywhere else!!! We worked with the dealers to buy a new car. The facts about the car were incorrect. We found this out on our own. When we went back to the dealer they said that we were correct and that they were wrong. basically, some key features of the car were misrepresented. They said they would look for a replacement for the new car we purchased. After weeks of calls to them, they said they could not find another car anywhere in the US. We finally started to work on it ourselves and found some cars we were ok with. But, they still wouldn't make it work. Finally, the owner said that we never had any admittance from them in writing that they were at fault (although I did record them on my phone). They would never return emails and I thought they were covering themselves from a potential lawsuit. Bottom line - we had to sell the car they sold us to another dealership aNd take a loss to make it work. These dealers lied and were dishonest. I would never buy a from the again EVER - do not work with this dealership. Overall, when you walk in they seem nice - when it comes down to it they are vicious. read more

This is the absolute worst dealership I've ever had to deal with. I took my 2009 Jetta in to have an oil leak fixed. There were no other problems with the car. After they had "fixed" the car the oil light came on. I'd had the car for almost two years, and the light had never came on prior. They removed the oil pan to see what the issue may be. They found aluminum, the cam bridge screen, and oil pump housing which suggests the car had been run without oil. I had done routine oil changes myself, so I know that I had not caused the problem. They said to fix the oil pump and the cam bridge it would be about $1700, which still wouldn't guarantee no future problems, and $7000 to replace the engine. With this knowledge, I didn't have much choice but to buy a new car. A week later, the Jetta that was originally mine, was on sale for $7000 after they had given me $2500 for it and told me that they would send it to the auction. I've been back up there and checked to see if it had a new engine, and it was still the same one. I also had the guy I was dealing with pull up a carfax report on the car, and the last thing on the report is when I put new tires on the car. They didn't even have where I had taken to them to fix the oil leak on the carfax report. This dealership is scummy, to say the least. They probably cleared the codes on the car for a few thousand miles. I highly suggest that nobody ever go there for repairs or to even buy a car. read more
