Absolute crooks. Every stereotype about used salesmen and mechanics apply to this business. I purchased a car from North Carolina, the clutch of which failed immediately upon it being delivered. That'll be a separate review for that dealership, but I digress. I took it to Hyundai since the car was a Hyundai Veloster, thinking they would have the expertise to fix their own brand of car. They charge me $3k to fix the clutch. My boyfriend picks it up, drives it 13 miles to work and back twice, and the clutch fails again. The dealership takes absolutely no accountability for the failure and blames my boyfriend for "driving it badly." Bro. My boyfriend has been driving manual for approx 20 years, and even a 13-year-old practicing driving on mommy's car wouldn't have resulted in that severe of a clutch failure after four short drives (which the service manager Jason shamelessly lied about and said there were 200 miles put on it since the repair. Not true. I know where that car was being driven and how long it was driven for. Pure gaslighting tactic.) I consistently tried to reason with Jason explaining that I recognized everything regarding the reality of the situation, and he was consistently condescending in his lies. Jason... I still know my boyfriend didn't destroy this clutch. Your employees inadvertently admitted that they encounter very limited instances of fixing manual cars, and that was evident by how mine was repaired. But it was the manipulation and refusal to take responsibility for me. I begged them to examine it for free to make sure they installed the new clutch properly. They refused for two weeks straight. I had to have it towed away back to my home to do God knows what with it after paying this dealership $3k to fix it, have it fail again almost immediately, and have them not even be willing to investigate the POSSIBILITY that they f*cked something up. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Do not buy a car from here, do not take your car here to get it fixed. They're scumbag liars. read more

I purchased a 2025 Tucson Limited from them in 09/2024 for $43K. My experience start to finish was horrible! I had TWO individual sales employees tell me they would sell me the car for MSRP since I was driving 3 hours (150 miles) to buy the car. When I got there the sales manager was rude and smug and advised he was tacking an additional $600 onto the purchase price for no other reason than, "You drove all the way here to get it, supply and demand buddy. If you want it you'll give me $600 more for it." I didn't buy the car the same day and this negative first impression almost caused me to not buy it at all, but I really wanted this car. I wired them the money a few days later and they agreed to drive it to NC to deliver it. I was happy about that so 1 point back to them. The car was delivered and my sales person left quickly after I signed the bill of sale before I inspected the car. I found unacceptable damage to the (brand new) car and contacted her about it. She admitted she did not inspect the car prior to delivery. (See photos). Then her and her manager attempted to pressure me to leave a perfect score survey (even though I wasn't happy and had damage to my car) so they could get their sales commission bonus. My sales person then texts me using "TV mature words" because I told her I'm not leaving a positive survey until my car is fixed. Ask yourself, is this how you want your sales person talking to you after spending that kind of money at their dealership (see screenshots). Customer service at this dealership ends the second you sign your paperwork and pay them!! Please learn from my $43K mistake and steer clear of this dealership! Absolutely horrible experience. I plainly stated when I arrived what I would pay from shopping other dealerships. I had a $14000 offer from Carmax to buy my car which they knew. I also stated I would not pay the bogus extra charges and asked if they could do it. When they brought the paperwork for me to sign they had charged all the bogus fees and was only giving me $12500 for my car. Bought a new car decided it was too small. Asked if dealer would buy it back. They did the appraisal and agreed value was good to pay it off. We were entitled to receive money back on our extended warranties around $5500. When we called to ask about timeline to get it we were told they decided to keep our money. A dealership cannot legally confiscate a warranty refund from a customer. We have filed a complaint with the SC consumer affairs and plan to sue for our money. Never had a dealership cheat us out of our warranty refund before. Needs to be further investigated. read more

After oil changes for 4 yrs. without additional repairs my luck ran out. I had an oil chang a month ago, but my airbag lite came on so took it to the Myrtle Beach Hyundai. My advisor said it would be a $195 diagonistic fee, but all was free. My advisor left early. My 2012 Sonata SEL with 72,662 miles and 3 hrs later after 5pm, another advisor checked me out stating they are a lot of major things wrong with my car and my advisor will call me on it, he didn't want to get involved, but he said the car is ok to drive over highway 31 to NC. 2 days later I finally talked with my advisor at closing Friday nite, telling my my car is at risk of driving and may need to be towed in. I shouldn't drive to an event that nite, telling me the valor &timing cover is leaking oil, cv axile is leaking grease, lower control arm bushing &lower ball joint are cracked and torn, cabin and engine filters needed. I was very concerned with this conflicting information. So Sat, I called for anyone that would answer, but was told to wait for the service manager Monday. Monday AM he called we had a nice talk, he looked at the tech's and advisor's notes and assured me that I could drive to Missouri and back w/o a problem, he promised, another conflict. My advisor said that she had been in contact with car shield service for me and told me to drop off my car and car shield would give me a rental, just call them. Wrong, I called car shield to rent and they said that I need a claim number, conferenced hyundai advisor with car shield and the advisor was silent, when car shield said that she is incorrect. I called car shield again to get a status of hyundai advisors progress since my hyundai advisor was evasive with me on what was happening after 2 weeks. Car Shield informed me that Hyundai has never called. A new car saleman called telling me to bring my title to trade my car in on a new car, without a conersation with me, wow. Took my car to local mechanics for a overall check and nothing is wrong. A hyundai new salesman text me the last couple of days, really. If you have a good product, you shouldn't have to rip seniors off to serve your needs. The service manager, his team and new carsales team are all involved, I feel. What did you do to my car!!! I purchased a warranty for my 2014 Santa Fe. Had a rack put in. This took 2 weeks to complete!! Ordering and delivery took 9 days! My car sat there at service for this time. When I finally got it back I drove off to find it wasn't driving correctly, the car was hesitant and bumping as I drove it. I got out to look and found a different tire and rim was put on the front driver side. Never again service department!! The Myrtle Beach Hyundai service department is horrible when it comes to their scheduling service, and their communication skills are the worst. Members of my family has owned at least 6 Hyundais over the last 15 years and we always had great sales and service experiences with our Hyundai dealerships when we were back in Pa; but since we moved to Myrtle Beach that has been far from the case. The folks who run the service department seem to lack competence, and when you do finally get someone on the phone and question them on the status of your vehicle, they will often sound confused about who you are and then verbally attack you saying you "the customer" are out of line and need to have patience. On a somewhat positive note, after a month of sitting on our problematic 2013 Sonata (without offering us a loaner I might add), they were able to finally get the Hyundai factory to give us a new motor. Still, it saddens me to say that as a result of our poor experiences with their service dept. over the last few years, we will no longer be purchasing Hyundai vehicles as long as we live in this area. read more

I am so disappointed in the "resolution " I was offered from their Client care team. I am on my 3rd car from them and was anticipation buying a Palisade shortly. We have a 2019 white Tuscon which has huge chunks of white paint peeling off the hood. I started with the manufacturer to give them the opportunity to address the concern. It seems they have large scale white paint issue country wide. I contacted them several weeks ago. I have the emails. I finally spoke with a local client care representative. She was very professional and pleasant. She took our information and let me know the next steps. They would review the "claim" by Friday 10/04/2024 and get back with me. She called me this morning, Oct. 7th and said since my car is out of warranty they would do nothing. I asked her how I was supposed to get warranty work done when the paint stripping just happened in the last two months??? I understand my car is out of warranty but there is the always the dealership who can "chose" to do the right thing based on repeated business from a client. Sales team was great!!!!!! . When got my car is when problems started. When I brought my car home noticed a scratch on the rim. Dealer did not fix after bring it to their attention. I then began to have a shaking from the transmission when stopping . Brought the car in they were unable to find the problem so i am still dealing with that periodically . The car has lose body panels that i told the service team about yet they did not look at when i brought my car in. The car also displays the wrong information on the screens , the accident avoidance system is extremely sensitive and will display a warning only message , ( but it seems to be actively applying the breaks - not a warning but an action). I was having trouble working with my cruise control system settings , trying to put in in manual mode so service team said to bring it in no appointment needed because it would only take a few minutes to show me . After several members of the service team looked over the car I was informed that the car no longer has a manual mode . The cars cruise control feature will not often not work and display an error message . The screen for the radio system often freezes and will not function . But worst of all Hyundaiusa.com put false information on their website about the car . I was stated on the website that the car had a manual mode on the cruise control. It does not it has a very unpredictable system that will often hit the breaks at times when a rational person would not , can be very dangerous . If the false information was not on the Hyundaiusa.com website I would not have purchased the car . Hyundai corporate admitted in an email to having the wrong information on their site and offered no solutions. Again sales team was great . read more

This place is a rip off in service. I had a 2007 with 47 thousand miles and the warranty was for 50, 000. When I brought the car in due to the brakes locked up they said the would take care of it! They did alright!! They said it was the abs system and that the car would be tied up longer. They then called me and said it was ready but it was not the ABS system but the master cylinder! I was traveling and needed an oil change so I went to this dealership and that was a mistake. When I picked up my car I have a habit of check things out before paying. I found my tires were 10 psi over inflated from the the door data plate, when I checked my oil it was low. I brought this to the attention of the service advisor and was told the tires are fine my car was sitting in the sun and that's what caused the increase. I explained that wouldn't be the case they were just over inflated. He didn't think it was a problem, so I released the Air to the the proper level before leavening. They also said it was Hyundai's policy that as long as the oil was in the hash mark it was fine. I pointed out to the Service Advisor the Hyundai Service manual for my car states that I take 6.13 qts with filter and their paperwork indicated they only put 5 qts in, if I wanted more oil I would have to pay for it. Brought this to the attention of General Manager (John) and he wanted me to talk to the Service Manager (Jason) he has yet to call me back and correct this with me. I have left several messages for both John and Jason and neither has had the decency to return my phone call and fix this problem. read more

RECALL GONE WRONG I went in only for the recall on ABS for my 2016 Tuscon. After being there a few minutes I was called in the back and told that they replaced 2 air filters and added oil. They wanted me to pay $72 for each oil filter and $16 for the oil. I refused of course because I was never ask should they perform this service. So after leaving their location the SUV begin to sound different. Then about 3 days later my dashboard had all kinds of service lights on. The BSD check light, traction check light, rpm does not move, a/c stops working and more. I contacted the service department and of course it was no worries to them. They guy stated all he did was replace a fuse and hung up. I called numerous of times for the service department manager and no one called me back. I only received a call after I place a review on another site. He asked me to bring the vehicle back which I did, the same day. I was there for 5 hours he told me their was paw prints under my hood and there was a fluid leak but they did not know from where...(sounds crazy you have my vehicle in the air and you can't see the leak) So I said why does my BSD light comes on now after you "fixed" the recall. The answer he gave me was "Sometimes when you fix a recall it can mess something else up"... LOL. He then asked if I could leave my vehicle over night... NO SIR!!! If I could give 0 stars I would because now I have to pay someone to fix what I do believe they messed up. read more

I would highly recommend Kevin as your salesman, although all the salesman were very friendly & courteous. I visited this dealership 3 times intending to purchase a certified pre-owned car. Kevin was very patient & always gave advantages & disadvantages of my decision to purchase a certified pre-owned. After lengthy discussions & working with Mickey, I ended up purchasing a 2019 Tucson. After my purchase I spent time with Ross. He went over EVERY aspect of my car including setting up my Hyundai Blue Link. I hope they are paying Ross well because he is definitely worth it. This place was the worst buying experience I've ever had, not just in car buying but in general. I got a car with 2000 miles on it that I paid full new car price for. Then it took me 2 weeks to get the car mats, because they said I needed the invoice to show that I paid for them. Finally the rat like scumbag that sold me the car had to steal them from another car. I brought the car in several times for miss timing while shifting. The 3 times I bought it in they could not figure out that it was just a loose clutch pedal. So they fixed it, but after 30000 miles the damage was already done. Also needed a new wheel bearing which costs me 800 from a repair shop because they wouldn't fix it while it had bumper damage. I've never shopped anywhere like Myrtle Beach Hyundai nor will I ever go anywhere else for a vehicle. These are the most down to earth honest people on the planet and yes it's unheard of. They gave me an incredible price and initially was told my interest rate would be somewhere from .75 to 1.5 higher. Surprisingly, when I was given my actual interest rate in the finance office it was much lower. These people are saints. They are all laid back no pressure and the warranty speaks for itself. As stated from the numerous reports below their service advisors need training in basic customer service skills; my suggestion is to have them all replaced. Specifically, Eddie Garrett and Jeff Davis as each lack the following skills: empathy, caring, listening, note taking, and time management. This is the only Hyundai dealership in Myrtle Beach and there serivce advisors realize it; they can treat their customers with disrespectful. Unfortunately, if you seek resolution to any issue at the dealership, save yourself a phone call to American Hyundia they/GM of Dealership did not return my emails/phone calls after Mr. Davis, lyed and then cursed at me, deliberately hanging up on me several times. Mr. Davis went as far as telling the receptionist not to accept my calls, when I was the level headed one attempting to seek a compromise and/or a solution. Mr. Garrett is another service advisor and he is no better: rude, condescending, and disrespectful. I can confirm the below claims of poor customer service in the Myrtle Beach Hyundai service department. Finally, as it appears that no one from their public relations department reads these posts; Save yourself the headache/time and visit Myrtle Beach Kia (also owned by Hyundai Motor Company and not owned by the same franchisee) to have your Hyundai repaired, e.g. oil change, tires/brakes, battery, wipers, small/large service repairs.
