The reason that this probate law office took so long is due to them 'forgetting' about it!!! My father passed away with a Will, and as the sole beneficiary I found I had to find a Probate attorney. I contacted Gresham Law, Patton Echols. Initially, his assistant, Kay setup my first appointment, confirmed. I arrived, and he didn't, until another attorney helped me, and we called him. He thought it was the next day?! He arrived an hour after appt time. Please note for future probate customers: - Keep him on task, he likes to converse at $250 hr (Kay's cost $125hr, but if she contacts Patton, then your question/work is transferred to his rate). There wasn't any overview of paperwork to see the outline of procedures at the first meeting. Kay sent later: very confusing with messy verbiage outline - Call often to check on process! If they say it will take 2 weeks, call them in 2 weeks! The office forgot about my probate several times, and literally for 3 months one time. . . It was not a good experience, as I was going through shock, grief and mourning. The good news is that it's finished!:)

Over a month passed with only two service attempts despite me repeatedly providing detailed information about the defendant's work schedule and location. The workplace was only a few blocks from their office and the defendant was not actively hiding from service. Communication eventually shifted away from actually completing service and toward asking me to remove my negative reviews before they would proceed with alternative service paperwork. My request for alternative service was later denied by the judge because additional supporting information was needed, which caused even more delay. I understand service can sometimes be difficult, but in my case it felt like there was very little urgency or effort despite being paid for the service. I ultimately had to pursue other options myself to move the case forward.
