We've been to East Dragon a few times when we are in the mood for Chinese food, but don't want to leave the area. The food is made fresh and is good. It's not the best I've ever had, but if you're in the mood for Chinese food that is fresh, not a buffet, they are a good place to go. I've had several items on their menu and have never been disappointed.

The redfish was served regular (at our request did not want blackened) and was very good. Crab cake salad was great as well. I did get the concrete on the side and the crab cakes were a little salty if you ate without the salad - I paired with with the veggies and was perfect...ate it all!! Redfish cooked perfectly and was tasty! GENEROUS portions for the price!! Ambiance is nice, but not for the hard of hearing as it got quite loud as the crowd grew.

Horrible service. Didn't greet us, no hospitality. She basically rushed us to give our order of drinks, appetizer & meal. We didn't have a chance to talk to her or ask questions. Very unwelcoming. The mozzarella sticks were good. My grilled cheese came out cold. My cheese was no longer melted & the sweet potato fries were so freakn greasy I ate 2 & couldn't eat anymore. I still left her a tip because unlike her, I'm not rude. But she didn't deserve it. Only time she said anything to me was when she was giving me the check & said have a good day. I left a review on the card reader when paying. So you can probably see my review of that night. 4-28-26 6:30pm and see who was my waitress. African American women. Then found a dead roach in the rr after we paid. So sick.

Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. My favorite touch this time was the brown sauce with fresh-sliced ginger. That ginger was EVERYTHING! Such a simple detail, but it really made the meal stand out. Three visits in, and the food and service have been consistently great. Definitely a Baton Rouge favorite!

There are also several house Asian fried rice, chow mein, and Szechuan dishes. We had the Red Oil Wantons appetizer and the Pork Bao and the Shrimp Xiao Long Bao. One note before the food review. The table was sticky. Pardon the pun, but I'm a stickler for clean tables and floors. My rule of thumb is if a restaurant is willing to have a not so nice dining area, imagine what the kitchen is like. Everything looked clean, except the tactile table. The did clean again upon request. Very friendly staff. The Red Oil Wonton were delicious. Well spiced with only what can described as a tiny meatball inside the soft wanton. The stuffed wanton are worth a trip back. Xiao Long Bao is a filled dumpling with soup in it. You put the dumpling in a spoon, take a small bite or poke it with a chopstick, then eat. The broth on the bao was great. Very flavorful as you "popped" the bao and drank it (they supply a big spoon). Other than the logistical challenge of using chopsticks and a large spoon, very tasty broth and stuffing. Special mention for the shrimp broth. Unusual taste. Some in Louisiana may think it's a bit "off" but I really didn't think so. It reminded me of those little dry shrimp they used to sell next to the cash registers at grocers, lol. Just a different shrimp taste. Overall, worth a return trip. Or a visit for something different. On Siegan Lane. $$
