    Chicken Mediterranean -- so good

Our first stop in Baton Rouge. The service and food was exceptional. It was very fresh tasting and had just the right amount of sauce for the noodles. I tried the Phoenician coffee too, but I wouldn't recommend; it is strong but has a strong spice to it that is similar to a Chinese seasoning? Anyways, this restaurant was a great pick and I would highly suggest to any locals or visiting parties to enjoy :)

This place is actually worse buy the week. Last time was terrible but today I was really craving a feta salad so being that this is the only Greek place in town I said well you can't F up a salad! Yep, this place can I ordered the Mediterranean salad which is feta salad with artichoke hearts. Long story short it came out looked and tasted like maybe they lighted sprayed oil on the lettuce and then put it in a bowl and charged $8.95. I took a bite or two but it was so dry I couldn't eat it. I asked the waitress for more dressing to find out that dressing for the salad was an additional charge. So I sent the salad back because it was inedible without enough dressing to cover the salad instead of just a light spray. No way was I gonna pay to get dressing that should of came with a $8.95 salad... THE NEW OWNERS ARE GONNA PUT THIS PLACE OUT IF BUSINESS FAST

Nice little dining gem in Zachary. Cafe Phoenicia has excellent customer service. I had a to-go order and from the phone call to the pick up the service was awesome. I had the Shrimp Phoenicia which consisted of eight large perfectly cooked shrimp in a wonderful white wine sauce with mushrooms, red peppers and artichokes. The dish also came with rice pilaf which was nicely flavored, hummus which was ok but not a stand out as it could have used a little more lemon and garlic for my taste and a nice simple Greek salad of lettuce, feta and dressing. The pita was a downer as it seemed bought and kinda stale but overall an excellent meal especially for under 15.00. I'm looking forward to more experiences at the close to home gem.

After visiting Greece a few years ago, I really have a hard time finding a really fabulous place. My friend brought me here. Looks pretty small on the outside but there was plenty of seating. Waitress was very knowledgeable. Very friendly on helping with our questions. I was very satisfied with my dinner and portion size was big!!! Def will be back when I am out that way again.

So I was skeptical about a Mediterranean restaurant in Zachary Louisiana, but this little gem of a place that's located in a strip mall definitely rivals restaurants in major metropolitan cities that serve the same types of food. I've had food from around the globe and I honestly have to say, this little restaurant really does a fantastic job of actually making authentic med style dishes. Kudos to the chef for actually doing a fabulous job putting together as close to authentic Mediterranean dishes as possible. This is definitely my new "go to" restaurant.

This is one of three Albasha locations in the southeast Louisiana area. Thank god this location is near our field office in Baton Rouge which is where I was assigned to in early October allowing me to dine at this spot for lunch. The dining area spacious with plenty of seating. It does get a lot of traffic during the weekday lunch hours; probably cause of the lunch specials that are offered which we took advantage of. The menu consists of your typical Mediterranean eats such as hummus, baba ganouj, stuffed grape leaves, spanakopita (spinach pie), chicken/beef schwarma, lamb shank, moussaka, and kabobs (just to name a few). Lunch specials involve plates which include a feta cheese salad, rice pilaf, and hummus that accompany the entrees. Ranging from $14-18, this is quite the steal, especially during times like these. The Lamb Shank lunch I ordered was delicious with plenty of food that I had to have a to-go box to bring the remainders with me. The chicken shwarma and vegetable platter were ordered by other parties who both loved them. And we also started with the fried cheese which is served in a bed of olive oil and spices with some cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives. Very tasty, especially with the vegetable garnishes. I need to get another assignment in Baton Rouge so I can come back here again!

Having lived…read morein Houston previously, where there were many great Greek and Mediterranean fares, this restaurant surpassed them all. The portions were perfect, the flavors all blended nicely, with nothing too salty, too bland, or overpowering other flavors in the dish. Their hummus and pita are all made fresh in house, and a must try for appetizer. I then ordered the rice, chicken and lemon soup bowl along with the politika meatballs. The soup is best described as slurping down comfort food. The meatballs were a blend of beef and lamb, which helped to bring down the bold flavor of lamb, and allowed all the flavors of the saganaki tomato sauce to complement. All of that still some left room for desserts. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. They all looked good. I went with this custard filled filo that was drizzled with honey. It's baked to order, so it was fresh, warm, crispy flakes of filo, and sweetened with honey and a hint of orange zest. Honestly, it's difficult to put it into words to describe it perfectly, but it was very good.

The space is clean, welcoming, and service was attentive throughout my visit. The saganaki was quite a show! Watching the flamed cheese arrive at the table was very entertaining. While the exterior wasn't as crisp and the interior not as gooey as we'd hoped, it was still a fun and tasty appetizer. For mains, the Chicken El Greco was a bit on the dry side, but the salmon from the Billage by the Sea was absolutely phenomenal. It was buttery and just melts in your mouth!
