I have to say I was impressed with my dog's first appointment. He was severely paralyzed over a…read moreyear ago. When I mean severely I'm talking about the level of injury. I didn't see this vet until a litter over a month. She addressed several concerns that I had brought up to several other vets. She took them all seriously. Many vets didn't bother because of exactly how bad his injury was. His injury made it impossible to do any of his needed bodily functions so I took care of all of that. Then a few months after his injury he started to self mutilate. I fought that as best as I could physically as well as with the use of medications. He never healed from that. It was at least nine month of me trying to take care of that. He ended up with multiple UTI's also. No one addressed his hair loss that started as soon as his paralysis. Never really addressed it or the skin pealing that was happening. He also started having frequent ear infections. None of his other vets even bothered with the hair loss or flaking. It ended up spreading over a lot of his skin then the hair would just peel off with his skin. She addressed that and ALL of my other concerns. She even saw the small part of his tail that had actually died. I hadn't seen it. I just thought his tail was looking a bit strange along with his skin problem. We scheduled surgery for it. In the wait for the surgery that section of his tail fully died. I let her know and she came up with a much closer appointment. I know she had squeezed him into her lunch break because she was packed prior to that and with no cancelations. While I was waiting for his surgery even more things happened that caused me to think about his quality of life. I decided that euthanasia was the best choice for him instead of the surgery. She was extremely kind and compassionate. Much better than another vet I won't name which treated another dog of mine like a piece of meat. All of her staff were amazing. Today I received a condolence card in the mail from the clinic. I think that was amazing of her and her staff to do. Dr. Toups is amazing as well as all the staff. I HIGHLY recommend them. Thank you very much to all of you at the clinic Marsha

There is no advantage to being a loyal costumer. I'm not suggesting allowing some to "cut the line" but I am telling you that I am being forced to find somewhere else to go due to your inability to see my dog when she is in dire need. I will take this post down if anything ever changes.

I will not ever go back. I took my 3 year old Chow Chow dog…read morein 3-8-19 because she was having a seizure. (2nd in her life) While they were very courteous and the facility was clean, I found out NOTHING as to why she was having a seizure. They asked if she could be kept there for observation. Assured me meds were waiting if she had another one. Perfect! Let's do it. About 3-4 hours later, the tech called and said they tried to draw blood, but my dog was getting very anxious and they were afraid it would trigger another seizure. Ok. I appreciate that fact. However, bloodwork is a very important part. I asked if they had given her an IV of fluids, she said no, but she will give her some water. None of that sounded "normal" to me. I mean, my dog is already there, I know they can get labs drawn, what's the problem? I called back and told them to do whatever to get the labs drawn. So, they sedated her-got labs drawn. Sent them out to be tested. Got results today 3-11-19. Thankfully her labs were normal. When I asked if they had any ideas on what was the cause, I was told they had no idea. However, if it happens again, be sure to bring her back so they can find out why. WHAT??? Why would I take her back there??? Mind you, I NEVER even saw or talked to a veterinarian in person, or on the phone. Never even saw one just walking around. Nor did I talk to the tech in person. I just don't get it. When I picked her up, I asked why sedation wasn't even offered when they called about not able to draw blood, I wasn't given an answer. They blew me off saying they were afraid it would upset her to draw labs. WHAT? Beware people. Something just ain't right here. I do believe 100%, she was treated like this because they were afraid of a Chow. Even though she is NOT aggressive in any way and is well behaved.

Even though he had just been vaccinated at the same clinic about a month prior. They quoted me a treatment plan that would take at least 2 days. I paid nearly $1000 for the treatment plan. Then they said I owed them more. They can't even vaccinate correctly. Do not trust them if you care for your furry friends at all. They will also charge more than is quoted.

In 2021, I took my dog to the (now) Mexia Vet Clinic to be spayed and to have a tumor removed. On…read morethe day she was scheduled for surgery, they never got to her. I was called to drive back and pick her up, and I was told to bring her back on a different day. Because she was prepped for surgery, she had not been given food or water all day. After her surgeries had been completed on a different day, I arrived to pick her up. I was then informed I needed to leave to purchase a cone collar from Tractor Supply because they were "out of supplies". As instructed, I arrived back at the clinic with the cone, I checked out, and then I had to load my 60 pound dog--with zero assistance from the staff--into my vehicle. No one offered help, even though I was visibly pregnant at that time. After some time had passed, my dog came back in heat. I called the vet's office and spoke to the office manager, Belinda. She explained that a piece of the uterus was "left behind". The only method of reconciliation she offered us was an exploratory surgery (at no additional charge), where finding said "left behind" piece would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Feeling uncomfortable with taking my dog back to the same clinic--where she had already undergone one failed/incomplete surgical procedure--I requested compensation so I could attempt to have the problem solved elsewhere. After being told the aforementioned, with no budging on Belinda's end, I moved on. I did not want to put my 9 year old dog under their treatment/anesthesia again. At the end of August 2023, I took my dog to another vet office for an issue unrelated to her heat cycles. The vet at this clinic had her medical history following "surgeries" listed above. After his evaluation of her, his medical opinion was that the surgery of having her spayed was most likely never performed. She still has cycles, and he found no indications of scarring or tattooing. He recommended that I call the original vet's office, relay his findings, and ask them to make the situation right. Belinda, the office manager, was not helpful (yet again). Furthermore, she was unapologetic and she completely lacked sympathy. She continued to blame their incompetence and their lack of professionalism and etiquette on their "new ownership". To hear how eager she was to let me know they would not reconcile in any way was sickening. Belinda not only could have handled the situation in several different ways, but most importantly, she could have carried out her message without the smug attitude. This line of work--BELINDA'S line of work--deals with not only people but their beloved pets as well. The way in which our local vet handled this entire situation is sad and disheartening. I paid for a service that was never done and I was treated like an inconvenience at every turn. It is my most sincere hope that the new owners will address all aspects of this terrible situation, and that they will move forward into the future of their company with more care and compassion. I would like to point out that I have never had an issue with any of the other employees in the office. I understand this is new ownership, but it appears as if most of the staff remains the same.
