It's been over a month and we have been visiting East Lawn weekly and so far everything has been kept very cleaned. If there are any trash, most likely caused by the four turkeys that have been raiding the grave for foods. They are harmless, so leave them alone. We noticed that the weekends are quite busy here, so it tells us that lots of the family are living nearby also to visit on a regular basis. read more

Bob one of the directors there is so friendly, helpful, patient and a pleasure to work with. While I sought out this funeral home for their services.... Ultimately, I did not go with this chapel based on other family related decisions though I really wanted my loved ones service to be held here..... Nonetheless, Bob was delightful and still extremely understandingly beyond nice as can be and also gave me so much love in reminding me to eat and sleep while he clearly deals with people in mourning. My only critique is that each time I have visited the grave, the metal flower tube has been emptied of dead flowers, BUT not been returned to original upside down/closed position. All other graveyards I have been to, have caretakers who do this when removing the dead floral arrangements. SO, I have had to dump and rinse out the metal vases and because they have been sitting for months, they smell FOUL and are full of mud. Caretakers can and should do better. read more

My family pre-purchased a large niche for my elder parents and grandparents years ago. There's a reason why they are a bit pricier than other cemetarys... their service is TOP NOTCH! Since our purchase, my father and grandma have passed and ashes are resting in that beautiful niche. So if anyone is considering final resting places for themselves or family members, I recommend calling and asking for Victoria. She is sweet and caring, and you can be sure that your loved ones will be well taken care of. read more

I called last week inquiring on the different arrangement packages. Staff called me back after a few hours, and we still had our loved one with us, so we were still deciding. After a family discussion, we decided to go with a direct cremation. It took a few calls but eventually I was able to speak to Pegah. Unfortunately, our hospice placed the call. I called after and they came within an hour and half.. The two staff members were polite and considerate. I was surprised how the stretcher had a very nice decorative cloth. We will be setting an appt tomorrow to finalize the process. read more

PART 1 of 2 for My Daughter Maleiha's Homegoing - I am too fatigued and grief-stricken to write a review, so I will share the email I wrote that went unanswered here. As an aside, Deanna S., Natalie, and Michael on the funeral side are good. On the cemetary plans, avoid Diana Timashenko and Pegah (manager) at ALL costs. The cemetary operations team overall lacks any integrity, is unethical, inconsiderate, and lacking empathy. I admit that I signed a contract with requirements. I am upset about the Non-disclosure of my rights related to that contract, and as a result, certain rights, such as being able to be buried with my daughter, will not be permitted. They took advantage of my grief to force me into spending more money on an additional plot. My next steps, when I have the energy to continue, will include arbitration with my attorney, a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and a complaint with the Consumer Protection Bureau... For now, here is my situation and a warning to other buyers with family to consider before buying a plot here... BUYER BEWARE because you will be overwhelmed with grief and they will leverage against that. Here is the email I wrote that they never responded to: To Ms. Timoshenko, East Lawn Leadership, East Lawn Legal Team, and East Lawn Leadership, I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the handling of the cemetery contract for my daughter, Maleiha Smith's, burial, which Ms. Diana Timoshenko at East Lawn Cemetery in Elk Grove facilitated. I believe I have been treated unfairly, dishonestly, and unethically, and I request specific documentation and clarification as outlined below. As an aside, I would like Deanna Simpson and Natalie Thrower to know that I appreciate their genuine care and support for me and Maleiha, particularly in relation to her homegoing service. This email is not tied to them. It is strictly related to the cemetery contract and my mistreatment during the process. Background * Original Agreement: When my ex-husband, Mr. Smith, and I purchased the plot for Maleiha on July 9, 2025, the contract was originally in my name. I later requested that both my name and my ex-husband's name be included, as we were splitting the costs equally. At no time was it disclosed that either of us would need the other's permission to be buried in the same multi-interment plot, which allowed for the burial of three individuals. We had not received any details regarding Interment rights at the time the contract was executed. If it had been adequately explained and disclosed at the time of the contract, we could have selected a plot position for Maleiha that would have allowed me to be on one side of her and her father on the other. * Subsequent Events: On August 7, during a visit to the gravesite for Maleiha's birthday, I inquired via email to Diana about an adjacent plot. Diana came to the gravesite immediately to hear my request to be buried next to Maleiha, and then giggled when she said that someone else had already purchased the adjacent plot, but mentioned that she would get me pricing on being inside the plot with Maleiha. I asked her about other plots for my mom, my niece, and my nephew. I was then told I could be buried with Maleiha in the same plot and to stop by the east lawn office on the way out. When I went to the office to obtain the pricing, it was then that Diana first disclosed to me that I would need consent from Mr. (my ex-husband) to be buried with Maleiha in the Mult depth plot that we had purchased equally. I was given pricing from Diana for this, along with pricing for an additional plot, not just for my mom, niece, and nephew as requested initially, but also for myself. There was no benefit to East Lawn to have my Ex agree to have me buried with Maleiha because you all would make extra money on me getting three additional family plots instead of 2. I felt that East Lawn had leveraged on this contract requirement and was using Mr. 's consent against me to demand extra money/profit. This requirement for my Ex-husband's consent had never been mentioned before the contract was executed. Again, if this had been disclosed, we would have at least had the option to strategically place Maleiha in a center lot to allow each of us the opportunity to be buried on either side of my daughter. * On Friday, August 8th, I learned that my ex-husband had purchased the only adjacent site next to Maleiha. Mr. agreed during this call to allow me to be buried with Maleiha. I let him know that, per Diana, she would be emailing him a document on Monday, August 11th, for him to review and sign. By Monday, August 11, my ex-husband had changed his mind about me being buried with Maleiha, and Diana was calling me AGAIN about the new additional plots for me and my family. I told her that my only options were to be buried with Maleiha or adjacent to her. read more

A Heartbreaking and Traumatic Experience - Please Read Before Choosing East Lawn!!!!! If you are dealing with the unexpected death of a loved one and considering East Lawn, I urge you to read my experience in full. Let this serve as a cautionary tale--ask questions, listen carefully, and read every document before signing. East Lawn failed my family and me during the most devastating time of our lives. My husband passed away unexpectedly at just 37 years old, leaving behind me and our three children. In the early hours after his death, his body was taken to a different cemetery. After an extremely unpleasant experience there, I had him moved to East Lawn, having heard better things. We paid to have his body released and transferred, and I was reassured that my family would be treated with care and compassion. That assurance quickly unraveled. When I met with Karissa to select a casket, I specifically told her that my husband was a large man and asked to only be shown options that would accommodate his size--starting with the most affordable and working upward. I asked multiple times if the casket we selected would fit him. Each time, she confirmed it would. We moved forward with planning the funeral service, then met with Pega to select a plot. Because of his size, we were told we had to pay thousands more for a larger vault. We didn't have a choice--so we agreed. A few days later, after his embalming, I was told an open-casket viewing was not recommended. This was a gut punch, as I had clearly stated that an open viewing was important to our family's Polynesian tradition. I couldn't get a straight answer from Karissa about what had gone wrong. Still in shock and grief, I let my family follow up and uncover the distressing truth--something had gone terribly wrong with the embalming process. Then, just two days before the funeral, I was told that my husband did not fit in the casket we selected--again, the one I had confirmed multiple times would fit him. We were forced to purchase a more expensive casket at the last minute, and told we would have to purchase another plot to accommodate the new size. Even after the new casket arrived, they still struggled to fit him. To make matters worse, in my grief, I didn't realize until later that the plot we purchased does not allow for an upright headstone--something I was not made clearly aware of at the time. When I pointed out that the neighboring plot has an upright headstone, they admitted that was a mistake. A mistake, like so many others they made throughout this traumatic process. Looking back, if I could do it all over again, I would never have chosen East Lawn as my husband's final resting place. They failed in every way that matters during a time when my family needed support, professionalism, and compassion the most. Please--learn from my experience. Ask every question. Demand clear answers. Read every detail. And most importantly, be cautious in choosing where to entrust your loved one's final care. read more

My dear niece had recently passed away, and with great sadness, I needed to see her one last time at the memorial held in her honor for all of her friends and family, given to commemorate her short life here on earth. We arrived early and decided to wander the grounds to check out some of the head stones. I was quite impressed at how lovely, peaceful and well maintained the lawns were kept. I felt like I was in a nice park setting complete with trees, flowers and other natural plant life. There is a "Garden of Honor for those who have served", mausoleum, crematorium, and East Lawn Memorial Chapel. Due to the pandemic, our memorial took place outdoors and under a tent. The idea was to hopefully make it a more socially distanced gathering. Everyone wore masks as required, but social distancing was a rather difficult situation to say the least. That being said, the memorial was very nice, as friends and relatives talked about memories they shared with my niece. I missed the chapel atmosphere, but prayers were appropriately given and blessings. Still, there was some levity which is always a nice little relief to a sad event. All of the funeral arrangements went smoothly from beginning to end as visitors were treated with compassion. It was a sad day, but I felt that my niece would have been pleased with this final place of rest...... read more

Pegah wont give you her 100% attention and has to talk to her manager Lynn for deals. She treats buying plots like a used car lot. We were helped before by respectful cemetarians. She will be on her phone most of the time. Avoid Pegah at all cost. She is unprincipled. read more

I normally shun media as an avenue to correct poor customer relations but as this is the 3rd time of poor service, I will use it. If your loved ones final resting place is at this cemetery, I pray they are treated better than ours (see the attached pictures). Allegedly they mow on a schedule but I guess they lost track of the schedule. If I did not know where the headstones were, I would never know they were at their final resting place. After spending an hour cutting the overgrowth with a knife, we put flowers at each headstone and spent a little while with our loved ones. read more

Eastlawn provided cremation and outside service for my brother. They handled our family services very well, showing compassion and concern thru our family process. Most arrangements had been previous made and paid. Cremation was delayed a little due to covid 19, but very short period. We like location by entry water fall and our mother is buried by the Shepard's wall. read more

Have attended services twice at East Lawn and appreciate the compassion and professionalism of the staff. Most recently I the unfortunate honor of attending a Covid friendly service that was held outside. The mortuary had staff directing guests where to park, where to sit/stand, what time service would begin, etc. Hand sanitizer was available for all guests, staff, family, and all other mourners wore masks. Staff advised guests where the restrooms were, and provided direction after the service, with regard to how to navigate to the interment area, with respect to the hearse and family travel to same area, and post interment family wishes for mourners. The staff at East Lawn made an otherwise worst day ever, one we could bare by taking the "think" out of what to do, where to be, next steps, etc. Thank you East Lawn staff for your compassion, professionalism. read more

It is never a great time when you have to visit East Lawn but if you need to this is the place to go. From the time we made our appointment to the day we placed our loved one to rest, this place takes care of these matters very quickly. I've been coming to this Cemetery for years. I know some people buried here. On my visit to the "Sierra View" there's a lot of ground level tombstones that are not being kept up. Some are completely covered by the grass. I find that to be in poor taste. Yeah they mow the grass, but don't make any effort to make graves noticeable. It expensive for a grave. Why can't this place get their shit together? Cutting corners! Sadly during my visit here. I saw a lady crying as she was pulling the grass and weeds from here families grave. She said it was completely covered. This place should reach out to the Scouts and or someone with a really good weedeater to get around the edges of these Graves. read more

This facility was clean, updated, well lit and had a great visual / audio system. Wanted to send a big thanks to Matt for his help during our 2 day visit. Sir, your funeral director Guillermo who helped our family with the arrangements was VERY well aware that we had every intentions of burial for my daughter's ashes. We actually looked at plots at East Lawn but because your organization is for PROFIT and your plots cost an arm and leg we had to seek burial at a different cemetery. You obviously need to take accountability for the sale of the wrong urn and you should make things right. But again your company is for PROFIT so I can see why you won't make it right. read more

My husband and I bought plots here 6 years ago for ourselves and my mother in law. Liz was our contact at that time and she was very patient and kind, answering all of our questions and taking the time to make sure that we were comfortable with our choices. Sadly, we had to arrange services for my mother in law 2 weeks ago. Liz and Guillermo have been wonderful every step of the way. They arranged for the DVD for the video tribute. They provided the certified death certificate, and they even provided fresh linen tablecloths for the reception room. All of these are small things, but when you're dealing with a long illness, then death, then a million little details, you'll be grateful for every detail that's taken off your plate. I want to first start off by saying I give 5 stars to the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. I also realize staffing might be an issue. But the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds is severely lacking. This is my first time visiting my families grave since before covid. Thinhs are being overlooked or just let go.The grave are overgrown, some so bad you cannot see their plaques (luckily not the case for my family) and the seem to be having an issue with gophers, cups are filled in and clipping are just left on plaques instead of just blowing after mowing. I just remember it being much nicer and better maintained. read more

I have had to plan two funerals in the past 6 months. I have to say that everyone at East lawn has been amazing. They are comforting , understanding and very accommodating during this difficult time. Its taken 2 years to get a name plate and plastic flower vase put on my mother's grave. Everyone I've spoken to at East Lawn to get it done has been careless and completely without sympathy during a time of hurt and mourning. They've even put the wrong person's name plate on and didn't seem to understand why I found that to be unacceptable. It would have been cheaper, faster, and less emotionally exhausting to go on Amazon and order a name plate and vase myself. read more

When the time came for compassionate attention in the case of our "prepaid arrangements", we were shuffled to the bottom of the priority list despite days of advance notice of the impending death. And while their model may not be repeat business one it certainly won't be with anyone in our family in the Elk Grove/Sacramento area.
